Stopped in this afternoon for a lemonade, delicious! It melts slowly so you have time to savor the lemonade without getting a brain freeze.

There’s lemonade and then there’s Deb’s. It’s a perfectly made crisp refreshing lemon drink with just a touch of sweetness and no sharp lemon bite. I’m told the ice that comes with your Deb’s is also frozen lemonade so your drink doesn’t ever loose that perfect flavor. It’s really a thing to behold. It’s not often you find something as special as this and it’s worth the drive if you’re in the mood for an exceptionally refreshing drink. I also tried their chili dog. I have to say it’s some really great chili. I’m told Deb makes it herself and I’m here to tell ya I believe it. The dog is an all beef dog and the buns is a standard white bread bun. It’s self serve and as a result you can smother as much chili on there as you want. The service was good however the women working on this particular Saturday afternoon seemed a bit frazzled initially. She didn’t ring up the bill correctly and over charged out friends a few dollars. We eventually got it worked out. Overall this is a great place with the drive and I highly recommend giving this place a shot.

The frozen lemonade at Deb’s is different than the frozen lemonade many people are used to. There’s more liquid than the Minute Maid frozen lemonades you get at the grocery store and you drink this one with a straw. However, it’s not entirely liquid. There’s still a frozen element to it and small pieces of lemon that give it texture. There’s plenty of sweetness but not the heavy artificial sugar taste that you get with many lemonades. A tall glass of lemonade is a very refreshing, summer drink. A large cup of Deb’s frozen lemonade is one of those unique food experiences for Roanoke.

Somehow I don’t get to drink enough lemonade these days, but the sunshine this week has me thinking about it. When I was a little boy my grandmother used to make the best lemonade I remember, but I watched her pick the lemons from a tree. Short of that experience, I can’t wait for a cup of Deb’s. Bring on the sunshine and the lemonade! Thanks Deb for making your juice! David Lawrence
