One of the highlights of college life in Roanoke! They are opened all year and local, so I love supporting this business. Plus they have excellent ice cream sandwiches — so delicious! I get the kid ice cream with the little dinosaur cookies, so they keep me young!

So, I am not someone who even really eats ice-cream that often because I prefer brownies and cookies when I want dessert, but this place is EXCELLENT! From now on when I do want ice-cream, Brusters will be the place! I tried the mint chocolate chip and the chocolate chip pieces were large dark chocolate and the mint ice-cream you could tell was freshly made. My husband had one of their blizzard like treats with Reese’s cups inside and it too was pretty tasty with fresh vanialla ice-cream and lots of pieces of Reese’s cups.

If you ever find yourself on this side of Roanoke, you can’t really beat the ice cream from here. They have 20 – 30 different flavors, not all of them winners. No seating other than outside benches. Sometimes, it’s just more fun to sit in your car or sit on the curb with some ice cream.

Pros: Home made ice cream Every flavor has a rich distinctive taste Con: Small place with no seating I ordered black raspberry sherbet, and with each spoonful I could taste the freshness of the raspberries. Yum!

We are a household of Ice cream lovers, but Brusters ttakes the cake! The flavors have something for everyone! Some of our favorites include: almond chocolate coconut, key lime pie & peanut butter! They have lots of favorites and some you’d never even thought of! Try it and see!

I’m not a huge ice cream fan, but there weren’t a lot of frozen dessert options in Roanoke, and Bruster’s had really nice seasonal options(like the pumpkin in fall, which was always amazing). I don’t know if they still do this, but they used to always do half priced ice creams for certain weather conditions(I think snow or rain), which was also pretty cool.
