My son attended Youth Skills Center for about 9 months. He learned so much in that short amount of time, reading and writing by the time he graduated preschool. The teachers are very patient and kind. The school has so many learning options and educational play centers, as well as a fun playground and swimming pool for swim lessons. I feel very comfortable when my child attended as the school is very secure with locking gates and security cameras. I would highly recommend this school.

On January 9, 2015 I came into the school for an interview because I was looking for a preschool job and thought this part time position would be great for me with my school schedule. On January 12, 2015 I came back and was told to have the classroom for a bit with 12 students that ages range from 2 – 7 years old which is completely inappropriate because toddlers shouldn’t be with school age children. The owner/director wanted me to see how the school ran and the rules and regulations were. At that time I saw that the children were watching movies on Netflix and first thing I thought was how is Netflix teaching them any preschool skills as well as hand motor skills. I didn’t see any painting projects just worksheets for them to do, which i had no issue with but you cant expect a 2 year old to sit for 30 – 45 minutes forcing them to do worksheets that are too difficult for them and telling them they cant play until the pages are complete with their name and the date. HELLOOOOTHERETWOYEARSOLD. But after that day, I thought that maybe things would change, which in fact they didn’t at all. Through the one week that I was there the children were able to run behind the building and I had safety concerns about no enough proper fencing for the children’s safety and needs action to make sure all of the children are in a safe environment especially when the school is on a busy road and the children can open the gate on their own. When I asked the director as well about what happens if a teacher needs help or a child runs away unsupervised, she told me to text her cell phone. I talked to the director and nothing was being done about it. So a few days go by and still no more results were done. So I asked her on January 19, 2015, can we please put gates up for the safety especially around the pool areas and I felt that wasn’t her main priority and when i approached her about my concerns as a teacher watching 12 children, she fired me. I don’t recommend this preschool to anyone at all! Pay more money to get with a school that allows their staff to have high safety and allow the children more toys, art, and a better snack + lunch. I allow realized after I was hired that there is a medical marijuana store across the street. I WOULDNOTWANTMYCHILDATTHISSCHOOL!
