We came here on a weekday on a weird time, so luckily there were plenty of seats. The selection of beer was good, but not much local brews. We were seated immediately to a mostly filled bar and semi-filled room. The music was a bit loud, but enough where you could have a conversation. The service was spot-on. The waitresses were friendly and very attentive. My husband had the Black and Tan Burger and I had the Mac N’ Cheese. The burger looked really good, but I knew it would be a bit spicy for me(mustard seeds). He said it tasted really good. The Mac N’ Cheese was good, but a but lackluster for the price. I don’t know if I would come back, but I would recommend it for someone looking for some filling high-quality food. + Location(near downtown Riverside) ++ Service +/-Food — Price

What a joke Great customer service. Truly great The mac n cheese could easily be made at home by a 7 year old child. The beers are all ipa type beers that ALL taste the same with little difference. I had to bed for a normal rating beer. Please stay at home if you do not like beers that are too«sophisticated»(like the 3 professors) And the fruity ones as well Perhaps I picked the wrong day

Absolutely one of the best places to eat I’ve ever been to. We were passing by River Side and decided to stop for a place to eat. This place came up on Unilocal and had good reviews and awesome photos of food. It did not disappoint. Our server was amazing, we always had something to drink and he kept checking in on us. It was our first time there and I had some questions about the menu I really appreciated that I felt like he gave me truthful answers about the food and wasn’t just pushing me to buy the most expensive thing(like some places do) My partner and I split the Mac and cheese, watermelon tomato soup, bacon wrapped dates and the steak and mash. And all of it was absolutely amazing. The Mac and cheese was made with REAL cheese none of the fake stuff you get a lot of other places. The dates were fun and adventurous. They were deep fired, covered in bacon with cream cheese inside. Not something healthy what-so-ever but it’s a treat that’s totally worth every bite. I wanted to be adventurous and get the watermelon tomato soup. It’s a chilled soup and extremely unique tasting. There was goat cheese in it and three deep fired tomatoes in it. Ah, it was to die for. It was so unique and rich. It wasn’t too sweet, it was just sweet enough. And the steak and mash was very yummy the meat was so tender and flavorful. Everything about our experience was top notch. I will be coming back even if I have to drive a bit out of my way. It’s completely worth it.

I went to this place awhile ago, so I’ll just rate the one thing I remember: Service:(5⁄5) The servers were very nice even though they heard me talking small trash. I felt embarrassed, but they were still nice to me. I was given great service as well as indirectly being given a lesson in being a kinder human being… Food: The Roasted Bone Marrow. First of all, it was very very well made. It came out looking divine and was served with bread on the side. I really enjoy the time that was taken to make it. BUT it just wasn’t for me. I can’t «do» super greasy food. I felt particularly adventurous, but overall, it made me feel very«unhealthy». This dish would be GREAT if you’re really into fatty and greasy foods, but if you can’t do that, bone marrow isn’t for you. Personally, this would get a(3⁄5) from me. Mostly because it was so well made. If it were on a scale of enjoyment, then(2⁄5). Environment:(5⁄5) Very nice«date place». Dark scheme and looks hip.

Hands down one of my favorite places. Great beer selection with always something rare on tap. I’m a burger guy, so I always get a burger. They end up amazing! Their home made ketchup is to die for as well, and I’m not a big ketchup person. Do yourself a favor and order the filthy fries too. I think they might be called smutty fries now though.

A group of friend and I came here to dine for my boyfriend’s birthday because it is one of his favorite restaurant. This would be the second time I dine here and it looks like a lot has changed(In my opinion). I guess one contributing factor of why I only give it three stars this time around was because for one thing we don’t live in the area so it is a drive to get there and two the food was not as tasteful as the first time around. Because we are a larger party of(10), we were seated downstairs. I felt really weird because the place looked like a big storage room with just a bunch of tables around it. It didn’t feel very alive. Anyways, I really enjoyed their kimchi Brussels sprout the first time around so I had to order that, which came out pretty good just like the first time. We also ordered the bacon grease popcorn and the filthy fries which tasted pretty mediocre to me. I loved their MSG burger but unfortunately I had to get to-go since it came out so late everyone in my party had already finished their food before my burger even came out. To add the cherry on top of what it is of my night when I got home, still starving, I took a bite of my burger and realized they burnt it. Not ‘golden brown’ burnt but full on charcoal burnt. So the verdict, would I come back? Yes, but only if I was in the area already and there is no other places I wanted to dine at.

There are things about this place I like, and things that are less ideal. The food was a bit hit or miss, so I’ll go through everything one at a time. 1. Smutty fries – 3⁄5. These were ok, nothing special. They didn’t stand out as «great». They were fine. 2. Brussel Sprouts – 5⁄5. These were SUPER tasty! They added kimchi, which made the dish have a more vinegar-y flavor. I’ve never had brussel sprouts that tasted like these, and I’m a huge fan. 3) M.S.G. Burger – 4⁄5. My husband got this burger, and said it was good. Very good, but not a stand out. 4) Black and Tan Burger – 4⁄5. I got this burger and thought it was good. Kind of like my husband felt, it was good, but not a stand out amazing burger, and definitely felt overpriced for what it was. 5. Mac n’ cheese – 0⁄5. I got this as a side rather than fries with my burger and it was literally inedible. So salty, and the«cheese» sauce was thin like water. Very very bad. 6. Lemon cake – 2⁄5. We got lemon cake to go, and it was just… odd. When I imagine lemon cake, I imagine something that’s lemony in flavor, but this had a HUGE layer of chocolate ganache. So the chocolate was very intense(I like that, since I like chocolate), but it really did’t go with the lemon, which I felt was made stronger to stand out against the chocolate. So I kind of ended up eating it in pieces – lemon first(which by itself was too sour), and then chocolate by itself. It was kind of like 2 desserts got smashed together, and didn’t make much sense. Overall our trip was enjoyable, and my husband enjoyed the beers he ordered. The service was friendly and atmosphere was nice, but the food didn’t quite seem as amazing as I expected, and the cost was high for what I felt wasn’t a «stand out» meal. I wouldn’t avoid it in the future, but wouldn’t go out of my way to return either.

It was full of creativity and loved the atmosphere but it was almost like they were trying too hard to be different with their flavors. This place is great for some people just not my cup of tea. Service was the best! Our guy I believe his name was Mark was remarkable!

The Salted Pig suffers from chasing its tail trying to capture the magic that was once a restaurant worthy of 5 star reviews. I used to love this place and really wish it went back to its roots instead of trying out new menu items without perfecting their previous menu items. I fear this place is riding on its previous reputation and not continuing to improve or even maintain the same quality of food. Each time i visit, i feel like this place slips a little more. The first time I visited i tried the pork and instantly declared the Salted Pig my favorite restaurant. The second time i visited i tried a burger that was very small but tasted great even if it left me very hungry The third time i tried the mac and cheese that tasted like something i could have made at home. I also tried the popcorn that was simply disappointing and had nothing special at all. The few times i visited after that i felt like i was looking for something to convince me that this really was my favorite place but after numerous disappointments i finally have had to quit coming here. Please Salted Pig, perfect the menu you currently have and win back this former fan.

Stopped here for lunch while in town for a business meeting. We split the brisket sandwich and the burger with fried egg and bacon. I also had a pint of the session IPA. Food was excellent. Atmosphere is strange – no windows and loud acoustics. Great service. Recommend stopping here if you’re in downtown Riverside.

This is definitely a very hipster restaurant. We came here last night with a group of friends for a nice Saturday night out in downtown riverside. The location is a bit away from the main bar and restaurant area, and the ambience is extremely casual, almost fast food like. Our server was really good and very attentive. The food was decent. The veggie burger was good, don’t know if I would order it again. The Mac and cheese was very cheesy and heavy. The best part was actually their drinks. I tried the clever girl cocktail and all the way cocktail which were excellent and why I’m actually adding stars to my review. My biggest gripe was we put our name down and they informed us the wait would be 1.5 hours so we went to the bar next door to order drinks. As soon as we put in our drink order they texted to let us know our table was ready. This was 15 minutes into putting our name down. I don’t understand how a 1.5 hour wait can magically become 15 minutes, so we went back and asked if we could get a 15 minute extension to the table so we could get and finish our drinks next door and the hostess was extremely rude about it. That interaction left a bad taste in my mouth about the establishment and I will not be returning for that reason. Know your wait times and respect when people make accommodations around what you told them.

Holy crap, this place has gone downhill. I have been coming here for a couple of years and at first their food and their bartenders were the best in Riverside. I’m not from here, but I have made it a habit to come every time I am in town. I noticed that I didn’t like the food as much about a year and a half ago, but now, even the bartenders are horrible. I had a bartender named Destiny today. She gave me the drink menu and went on to help some other people. Totally cool, but she kept deviating her eyes from the customers, cutting limes, cleaning glasses, etc. while I am waiting to order. Once I got her attention, I ask her for a bottle, she poured it, and it is the wrong beer. I was going to tell her something but before I did, she closed out my card(without asking if I wanted to or not) and charged me for the more expensive beer she poured. After that, I did not get any attention from either of the bartenders. My glass was empty for 10 mins when I got the attention of the guy bartender and asked him for a beer. When I asked him for the stout on tap, he asked me which one that was… you would think a bar that prides themselves in their beer selection would hire people that knew beer. When closing, the same guy asked me again what me and a friend had ordered, because he didn’t have anything in the system for either of us. Please, salted pig, hire people with experience, good customer service skills, beer knowledge and are business contentious. I’m to the point where I am done giving this place another chance. Two stars only due to good beer selection.

This spot in downtown Riverside was easy to find off of Market. It is a restaurant/bar. The bar area is where we decided to sit. The draft beer list is up on boards located on the wall furthest away from the bar. The wall opposite of the register has the bottled beers listed. I decided to sample an ale. I met couple at the bar and they told me about the bloody mary so I decided to go with it. Not bad since I am not a fan. I wanted a different taste since I just left a beer festival. I ordered some Mac n cheese, Brussel sprouts, and bacon fat popcorn. All of the items were delicious. I was a fan of the mac n cheese. The mac was cooked perfectly, I like pasta al dente. The brussels had a sweet flavor to them. The bacon fat popcorn was unbelievable. I inhaled that stuff. Bartenders were attentive. I enjoyed hanging out at the bar. Friendly atmosphere. It got a little loud at times so you may need to speak up. I recommend trying this place out. Next time I need to try different food items.

The Salted Pig is a hipster spot. It reminds me of places in Austin, TX. Came here with a friend on a Friday night when I was visiting from out of town. I saw over 18,00 good reviews on Unilocal so I decided to try this place out. My friend had been here twice in the past for lunch and she said it was decent but not outstanding. She gladly took me here anyway. The ambiance was different than what I had imagined. I was apparently overdressed b/c everybody else wore T-shirt and jeans and I was wearing a suit and pencil skirt. Oh well. There was a bit wait for maybe 45 minutes? Our server was very pleasant and personable. My friend got a chicken dish and I ordered the pork belly. We also shared a Brussels sprouts appetizer. My pork belly was good but it was a bit too fatty. I know pork belly has lots of fat in it to begin with but trust me I’ve had better. I tried my friend’s chicken. It was not bad but not amazing either. However, the Brussels sprouts were spectacular! I absolutely loved them. My friend told me that she was not a fan of Brussels sprouts until she tried those. She apparently enjoyed them, too. Overall, it’s a decent gastrobar though a bit overpriced for the quality of food they serve. I’ll probably come back try more things on the menu in the future. And I’ll get the Brussels sprouts again for sure!

I almost hate to give a review because want to keep this place all to myself. On our last visit we arrived about 7:30 on a Friday night. We were told 45 minutes or so. gave the gal out # to text and headed to the W for a drink. sat down and text said our table for 4 was ready!!! We had a guest form out of town with us so we had a few appetizers: Brussel Sprouts(AMAZING) & Yorkshire Pudding. With 4 of us we wanted to share so we ordered: Kurobuta Pork Chop(Spiced Pear & Roasted Almond) about 30 oz I think and the Dry Aged Ribeye(Applewood Smoked Maple Butter, Maldon) 40 oz OMG! With a side of Marinated Mushroom Salad(Soy Dressing, Radish Sprouts, Crushed Peanuts) always one of my favorites. Our kick ass waiter also gave us the Roasted Bone Marrow(Chinese Black Vinegar, Mustard, Grilled Ciabatta) I was going to order it but I thought it might not be so well received by our guests. So stoked he gave it to us :) and my friends LOVEDIT! A night at the Salted Pig is always a delight and you are guaranteed to walk away with a food baby!

Salted pig is probably my favorite dinner spot to eat in dt riverside. The food, drinks and ambiance are superb. You can’t go wrong with any of the burgers!(Trust!) it also comes with a side of salad or fries. You can make the fries filthy fries for extra $$$. The filthy fries are so good, but so filling! It’s something you should share amongst your table. Their Mac and cheese is also so good!!! I’ve come here many times and I always leave satisfied. They have so many different beers and beer flights. If you have room for dessert, you should definitely try their maple bacon ice cream! It’s SOGOOD! Perfect date night or girls/guys night out spot!

QUINOAANDCITRUS SALAD-it was damn good. PORKBELLY SANDWICH-can’t go wrong with pork belly that melts in the mouth. I just loved it. BRUSSELS SPROUTS-Was not a fan. It was saucy and watery. I want them dry and crunchy at least. I didn’t understand why they made it that way. Someone could explain please. MAC N CHEESE-plain but tasty. Just pure cheddar cheese and no added unnecessary ingredients. COCKTAILSAND BEERS-it was a good Sunday brunch and alcohol is a must. The lady server-super attentive. Clean and smells clean bathroom.

We got here at 9:45 and there was a lil late. We were quoted 45 minute wait but got sat in about 10 minutes. score! The hostesses were really nice. We chatted a bit and she was really accommodating and when the one of the hostesses misspelled my name she corrected her without me saying anything. She must have Asian friends. Lol :) Drinks: We ordered a few drinks… cocktails: clever girl and old fashion. If you like sweet drinks clever girl is a good balance of strong and sweet($ 10) old fashion was pretty decent, not the best one I have had but decent($ 8) The beer that we tried was the IPA port hop 15 recommended by our waitress($ 7) Food: We ordered a must-pig fat popcorn, to me it reminds me of a mix Kix cereal and I love cereal :) and kettle popcorn. Tried the MSG burger which stands for Mushroom, Slab of bacon and Gouda… we substituted the meat patty for a veggie patty. It was delicious!($ 16) We also tried the Trout bibimbop($ 26) didn’t really like that dish, it wasn’t too bad but I would not call it bibimbop more like a rice bowl. I like my bibimbop with the sizzling stone pot. But nice try SP I still heart u! :) We tried the coffee and doughnuts and what that is, is 2 doughnuts(raspberry glazed and chocolate topped with nuts) with a side of coffee ice cream. The doughnuts comes out warm.($ 9) Sums it up: great service. great drinks and good food!

Gotta give my favorite watering hole 5 stars! If I was single, had no kids or mortgage, I’d come here everyday like Norm on Cheers! This place has a Grrrrrreat(like Tony the Tiger) beer selection. They constantly rotate handles and source beers from craft breweries all over the US; even as far as the Dogfish Head dudes in Delaware! The food… What can I say? The Salted Pig… Well let’s say they focus on the pig! I’ve pretty much tried everything and my favorite dishes are the bacon fat popcorn(like kettle corn that«oinks» and taste like bacon), mac and cheese, duck bowl, mussels, bone marrow, etc. It’s ALL good! Some of the awesome breweries that they have sourced are: Russian River, Stone, Drakes, Firestone Walker, Port Brewing, Maui Brewing, Green Flash, Great Divide, Alesmith, Lost Abby, Bruery, Avery and many many more. In addition to rotating handles, they also have a decent bottle offering. I’m very passionate about craft beer and when I come here, I’m like a kid in a candy store drooling with a mouth full of rotten teeth! No complaints on the food; I’ve never ordered anything I didn’t like. If your in the area try it! Heck; even if you’re not in the area you need to drive or hitchhike here and try it! Cheers!
