Stephen Michael Stahley

I actually started this review in May of 2014. That is when I signed a contract for a complete front and back yard, drought tolerant landscape plan.
It is now a year and four months later. We optimistically murdered our lawn in anticipation (you are welcome, Governor Brown). I finally have some plans, I know he put in a lot of work, but it was like pulling hen’s teeth to get this far. Part of the deal was Mr. Stahley would see it through to the end. But angrily, there is still no yard and a lot of ancient dirt crying out for TLC.
Worse yet, I still have no clue as to what this elaborate plan would have cost to install. When we got to this part, he no longer took my phone calls, or returned my texts and emails.
First impressions are what hooked me. Humble, animated, charming, smiling, he seemed to be a good match, I thought. Our ideas were in sync. We saw the same end result. But after countless delays, huge gaps in communication, excuses for overbooking, frequent re-​scheduling, empty promises and apologies for forgetting to bring stuff for meetings, and way too many personal issues that stymied his professional responsibilities, I finally had enough.
I think after a year+, you would call me pretty darn patient.
I am still trying to salvage this project, but not with him. SMH and feeling pretty mad and stupid.
End of story.

I am disappointed in Stephen because I hired him to design a landscaping for two homes, he kept my deposit and did not perform. He sent me a plan that is not satisfactory after waiting for him for over 4 weeks as opposed to the 1 week schedule. I relied on his reviews on Unilocal to hire him. I would not recommend him. There are constant delay, excuses and mix up on his part.

Stephen has been a joy to work with. Very helpful knowledgeable and creative in his approach. I’m grateful for his assistance and look forward to working with him in the future.

Stephen designed the perfect landscape design for our home! He took into account the types of plants my husband and I enjoyed, the style of home we live in, as well as which plants do well in our climate (we’re in Riverside), and came up with a look that we love! Another thing that really impressed me was that he got copies of our city plans and was well aware of where our property lines, easements, gas lines, etc. where and marked them all clearly on our plans. I thought we were just going to make our yard look nice, but he gave us so much more. Thanks Stephen!
