This is my favorite restaurant in the world! We come here all the time. The food is the best, and the staff are amazing! Best flour tortillas I have ever had! the salsa is always perfect, and the Margaritas are delicious! My fav is either the tostdada salad, the chili Colorado, or the quesadillas.

I’m highly confused by the mixed reviews for Chito? This is one of my all time favorite restaurants. You can’t beat the Lunch Special or the #10. I dream about their chicken enchiladas with green sauce. The margarita’s are unreal. This family owned restaurant is one that I will continue to visit each and every time I come home!

I’m writing this review as I sit here staring at my plate. Ordered cheese enchiladas with red sauce and it was very bland… inedible. My sister ordered a $ 20 shrimp plate which still had the shells and feet on. The only good thing we had here were the flour chips and salsa. Service was good. Overall we were both very disappointed considering all the good things we’ve heard.

Really sorry to give this review. We we directed here by some friends. We had heard the food was good and the drinks were great. We didn’t have that experience. It was probably the worst Mexican food I’ve ever had. The chile rellanos were like pancakes and rest was just bland. My husband had the liver and onions and liked it. The part I didn’t like was you had to get your own drinks from the bar. The bar was packed so no drinks for us. Who runs their business like this?

This place deserves 5 stars. It is my go to place for amazing Mexican food. I can’t get enough of the flour chips, salsa, and beef tacos. Let’s not forget the cadillac margaritas. Yeah it may get loud at times but it’s only because people are enjoying themselves. The owners are incredibly nice and accommodating. All signs point toward awesomeness!

Worst food EVER! The server was nor attentive, tried to send food back and they WOULDN’T although it was not made the way we ordered it. The OWNER yelled at us for walking out. This place is a JOKE! The best part was when the OWNER told me in MEXICO they don’t know how to make «REAL AUTHENTIC» MEXICAN FOOD!!! This is the WORST restaurant I’ve ever eaten at and that is saying something!

Yuck. Burnt chips salsa was too hot, and I like a kick, greasiest chili relleno ever. And the plain margaritas are straight alcohol… which some may like. Waitress to table ratio was awful. Waited about 15 min for a drink after telling her what we wanted.

People rant and rave about this place. I can understand why. Homemade chips and salsa some of them were the yummy flour ones. I had the shrimp enchiladas with the verde sauce. Just the perfect amount of spice. The staff was great. I’ll be enjoying many a meal here in the future! Took a friend and he said «I would totally eat here again.»

I feel bad giving them a low number of stars because our server was such a gentleman and on top of his game but the food was ridiculously gross. The food was too pricey for the quality. My beans tasted like they had been sitting out all day. The meat also had a strange after taste. I’ll continue going to La P just a few blocks away. Maybe that’s why this restaurant is so hidden to keep people away.

Absolutely the best Mexican food around.
Authentic, delicious hot & fresh every time we go which is often. Plenty of food.
Valentines Day was packed completely, our food was hot delicious and service was impeccable as always.
We highly recommend to everyone!

My boss wasn’t lying when he said this was the best Mexican food. The variety is amazing and the taste is superb. I loved everything from the salsa and chips to the extra napkins I didn’t have to ask for. The rice was done to perfection and the vodka margaritas were killer. And best of all the bathroom was super clean!

I haven’t been to this restaurant in about eight years, it used to be one of the best Mexican in the Greater Modesto area. In fact I used to eat here quite a bit years ago. It seems to me that the food I ate today, the chili Verde, was a canned imitation of what they used to serve.
It tasted like the beans and the rice were also canned or prepackaged, this is definitely not the scratch made food that they used to serve.
If scratch made, authentic Mexican food is what you’re after, EL Ranchito is a shadow of its former self and I would recommend looking elsewhere.
