This place is so legitimate. They opened up about 3 – 5 years ago and they have grown in clientele so much. They have a special vegetable and cheese empanada that is an owners invention and secret recipe. ITS delisioso ! Must try! On my way there now !

The lady was very nice and cute. We spoke to her in Spanish and she was very understanding with our gringo Spanish. We had eggs with rice and beans that were decent. I got carne de res and the meat was a little questionable but the place was overall nice!

Fantastic empanadas. I have a sensitivity to corn and I can still eat theirs. Delicious. Neighborhood gem!

My favorite pastelillos come from Son de Cali bakery. My grandfather first introduced me to this place and their tasty pastelillos and I have since become a huge fan of their cheese one. They are herby, cheesy and never overdone. Like with all pastelillos, some are less filled than others, but they do an okay job of filling most of them well. Most of the staff here is very friendly and fast on their feet. I like that it seems to be family owned. I like sitting down and enjoying a coffee here once in a while, in the mornings it can get kind of full, but any other part of the day you can probably find a small table to sit at and read and relax over a coffee and pastry. There’s no place around to sit for coffee that’s as nice and cozy as Son de Cali. I also enjoy their guava pastry and Columbian coffee. This place is kind of a hole in the wall treasure. For the area it’s a fantastic addition. The food is freshly made, the place is always clean, the crowd is friendly, the staff is friendly and the coffee is good. I encourage people to support this local business and keep it going strong. This place is one of my absolute favorite Bushwick spots.

My roommates and I LOVE Son De Cali! The owner and her family are so sweet, the pastries are AMAZING, and the prices are great! Everything I’ve had I’ve loved including my favorites: Arepas Almohabanas Daditos Tres Leches Something like Almohabanas, but with guava paste and cheese inside. They can heat up your pastries if you ask if they are no longer hot(which i recommend). I haven’t tried any of their cooked meals(they serve breakfast and also columbian lunch/dinner dishes), but I’ve seen other people order them and they look good and portions are huge. They serve coffee with freshly ground columbian beans. They have Wi-Fi! The only thing I don’t like is the décor. I think if they changed it a bit it would attract a wider variety of clientele and business.

Cheap and tasty arepas! I love my new neighborhood. Get the cheese on your arepa. You will not regret it.

I love this place. I found it by accident – on Wycoff street across from some parking place, just off the L Hasley stop – when I was stuck at a terrible job for a few days and the only thing I looked forward to was coming to son de cali to try a different amazing pastry. I wish I could have borne the job for a little bit longer just to try all their other food. great people, delicious food! arepas!!!
