Will never go back. Service was horrible. Steak was awful. I sent my chicken back and opted for nothing. Oh! And I chose soup as my «soup or salad» option… Tomato Florentine. The flavor was good but it wasn’t even hot! It was barely even warm. Stay away from this horrible place. I see a lot of people come here to drink and watch sports, but do not I repeat DONOT eat the food.

Went here for lunch today… stuck with the burgers & it wasn’t a bad meal although a few things need improvement: 1. Fries were not cooked well enough– another minute in the fryer would have made a huge difference, 2. The roll was blah — change your supplier or switch to rye toast, English muffin, sourdough, etc, 3. The pickle was tremendous– make it two smaller ones. Overall, not bad & service was good, although the place was empty at 1p on a football Sunday. They have potential and now need to rise above the bad reviews. My vote would be to bring back the pub atmosphere, put the booths back in, shrink the menu, and clean house of the rude staff.

Went for lunch with my steak loving husband. His filet mignon was bland, fries greasy and soggy. My chicken was tasteless and rubbery. I don’t know how this place stays in business.

1 word: Horrendous! I’m sorry but this place was awful! Our waitress was bad. Really bad. When we got there we were the only ones at a table, the rest were at the bar. She took forever to serve us, pretty much spoke to us from two tables away and definitely had no interest in providing good service. The only time she gave any emotion or interest was when she gave us the check. Sorry to put it to you but two seconds of kindness don’t make up for the 2 prior hours of ignorance! oh yea I forgot to mention, I had to actually go in to the bar to ask that bartender for water! I’ll give them the second star because the food was ok and they had the option of outdoor seating. I will not be back and I’ll make sure to tell my friends and family(lots who are in the area) to stay away from this place. What a disappointment considering its in a prime location. Time to take it up a notch Smith Brothers!

I can’t believe I went in here after seeing two stars on Unilocal. It’s rating is exactly right. Overpriced and I felt extremely young in there and I’m in my 40s. Going to a funeral home gives me a better feeling than coming here.

The place is ok, but nothing to rave about. I really like the setup — both indoor and outdoor. Prices are a little high, but I was ok with that being it was a steakhouse. But its not really a steakhouse — it’s more of a bar. Bartender was nice. They have a few beers on tap, but no bottle selection beyond the«wedding» beers. I did not like the wings. They were large(as advertised), but there was a lot of cartilage and no real flavor. And the menu had them rated as a favorite. The burger was ok but again a little bland. Cole slaw had too much caraway seed in it. We went late at night, so maybe I we came prime time and ordered dinner we may do better. We’ll see.

Place is terrible. Bland steaks and boring menu. Place was half empty when I went in there. I have no idea how they are still open.

Smith brothers should be ashamed to be a provider of any service in this town. After a number of outrageous experiences with staff, food and drinks. all bad, the manager assured us he would fix the problem(drunk, belligerent and rude waitress) and also send us a gift card. 3 months later, nothing. Don’t support this terrible establishment.

So relieved to see the two-star rating here. Hope my one can help bring it down a notch. This is a joke of a restaurant. Tired old menu, terrible quality(is there something below Sysco?), amateur cooking and careless service. And the beer selection blows. Every time I go here it is reluctantly because it is simply a convenient bar.

I came here with my buddy for a couple of burgers vas we had a swell old time. Food was more than adequate. My expectations were met. This is a bar basically. The other reviewers should get over it, this is not a Gordon Ramsay restaurant.

Got the french onion soup which was a little bitter and more oily than buttery. Service was very relaxed.

Service: Went here for lunch today with my mom. We were one of 3 customers in the entire place. Considering how empty it was, our server took FOREVER to take our orders. I had to go looking for her to tell her we were ready. Not professional. She was nice though, just not very attentive. Later during the meal, the owner(I think he was at least) came up to us and asked how everything was going and was very friendly, which was nice. Atmosphere: Very casual. Very quiet for lunch today. Don’t sit in the dining room, you will be forgotten. Stay at the bar. Décor desperately needs updating. Food/drink: I ordered a margarita on the rocks, which was HUGE and was served in a beer glass. It must have been a double. It was simple but good and I could taste the tequila(a good thing, I think). Well worth the $ 11. For my entrée I had the crab cake lunch special, which was a crab cake and 2 shrimp served over a salad. It was supposed to come with gazpacho, but I was brought a house salad instead… I don’t know why, and honestly at that point I had too much of that huge margarita to even remember that that was what was supposed to come with it, so I just ate 2 salads. The shrimp were cooked well though, and the crab cake was moist, flaky and definitely showcased the crab(not too much breading.) The salad dressing was very bland. Tasted just like oil and water. You’re better off asking for oil and vinegar on the side. My mom had a roast beef sandwich with gruyère cheese, caramelized onions and a lime slaw, which she enjoyed. I tasted it as well and thought it was very juicy and flavorful. For dessert we had the brownie sundae, which left some to be desired. The brownie was very moist, but was not very chocolate-y. The vanilla ice cream was very icy and clearly low-quality. Overall impression: Go for cocktails or stop in for a quick lunch, but don’t go for a special occasion. I would go back for lunch, but would make sure I got what was advertised on the menu, and would skip dessert.

Mediocre food, thankfully the rancid food I was served was replaced, but what ensured I will not return is that my server was visibly drunk. Hopefully this place will clean up their act, not many places in Ridgewood have liquor licenses.

I’m still trying to figure out why the place was semi-packed. This restuarant cut every corner possible to save themselves some cash… Our crab cakes had imitation crab meat… I swear the bbq platter had BREAKFAST sausage(ugh…)…and the french fries with my filet mignon must have come from the freezer. You know it’s a bad meal when the best thing you’ve eaten was the corn…

One of the worst experiences at a restaurant. The cokes came out first and tasted like some knock-off brand that was gross. I mean seriously, how do you screw up soda?! Then the salads came out – terrible. The dressing tasted like some oil and salt mix. Then the food came out: I ordered shrimp scampi for 21.95: not only did it come out on a bed of rice(which I didnt realize was one of the options besides linguini and no one asked which one I wanted) but I got about 5 small shrimp… so basically I paid $ 22 for a shrimp cocktail. Additionally, the shrimp was incredibly bland. no flavor whatsoever. My boyfriend got the ribs and it was obvious from the moment they came out the sauce came from a jar… it was this strange rust color that I’ve never seen on ribs before. And his fries tasted like cardboard. If all that wasn’t enough we waited about 20 minutes after we asked for the check before we just left some cash and walked out since no one ever came back to our table. We actually had to go to nearby Wild Ginger for some food since 5 shrimp does not a meal make. BTW, the Wild Ginger was delicious, go there instead.

Overseasoned, overbreaded cajun shrimp with ghastly presentation(they actually brought me two servings by accident), undercooked onion in french onion soup. Place appears to be upscale steakhouse but is in actuality a bar trying to be a restaurant. Also, live music. The WORST!

Bar was fun, loud and friendly. The food was served quickly and even with that not really worth the wait — came out room temperature. The lone standout — The buffalo shrimp

This place really needs to drop the whole restaurant aspect of their business. I’m pretty sure the only reason Smitty’s stays open is due to its fortunate liquor licence, which is a rarity in the teetotalling town of Ridgewood. Avoid the food at all costs — my family went there for a late lunch and drinks and literally everything was terrible. The nachos were served with stale chips, my «quesadilla» was little more than a microwaved tortilla with an inedible filling, and my uncle’s scallops dish was rubbery and sandy. Oh, and unless you like your salad blended with Tostitos salsa, DONOT get the gazpacho. As a bar, they are STINGY with the drinks. I’m sorry, you don’t serve Blue Moon or Yuengling in a tiny goblet, they belong in pint glasses unless you’re trying to rip off your customers. Everyone in this place looked miserable, especially the staff. Not only did they manage to mess up our bill completely, but they also spilled salsa on my Mum’s purse! If I had checked Unilocal before going, I probably wouldn’t be writing this diatribe, but c’mon! Maybe it’s time the owners of this establishment got with the 21st century because it certainly seems like I’m not alone with my opinion of this place.

I want to give this place zero stars but Unilocal wont let me Went here on the suggestion that they had a great burger. It was mediocre. The service was horrible. I ordered a medium American cheese bacon and mushroom with sweet potato fries. It came out well done with no mushrooms and steak fries. I was charged for sweet potato fries. Waitress was annoyed with us for no reason and rarely came over. When I asked for a pen she literally tossed it at me. We split the bill on three cards and cash and when she returned she actually said«that was difficult». Needless to say I was completely shocked on the horrible service. I don’t even care if it was«just a bad day» for the waitress I won’t be going back to this restaurant.
