Julia’s is incredible! Truly a diamond in the rough that is the ridgewood culinary scene. Excellent food, phenomenal service, and a great value. I rarely give 5 stars, but this place deserves it. I live locally and will be returning often. Drinks are reasonably priced and food never ceases to impress. They were extremely accommodating with our large group and made sure we were taken care of. I look forward to my next visit(seriously though, I’m craving their food as I write this).

Ridgewood is moving on up, and places like Julia’s is making it happen. Looking for an elegant, wine bar that offers delicates and has a good feel for classiness in Ridgewood? Julia’s to the rescue. Another awesome venture by the ladies at Norma’s was the reason I was excited to back their Kickstarter project to make this possible. The end result a very nice wine bar in the cut of Ridgewood. It’s places like this that keep making Ridgewood the best neighborhood to live.

Julia Julia Julia. Julia Goolia. Man, this place is sweet as freshly baked apple pie. I never come out to Ridgewood. Ever. Though, those darned Queens beer books lured me into a place I would never venture to yet again. The place is pretty quaint and cute. Both smaller tables and picnic style tables with glowing soft candles, interesting art work, and paper dining mats spread before you along with cup holders filled with color pencils. Coloring equals therapy. Enormous amounts of very much needed therapy over a huge and pretty interesting menu of both wines, libations and craft beers. After deciding that nothing was particularly gripping us for the food menu since most of everything was small plates, cheese, and sandwiches, we decided to drink more beer. Between Steph and I we were on a dark beer kick as of late and Mary, who was also sweet as apple pie like Julia the restaurant, suggested the Choklat Imperial stout brew from Southern Tier. She also offered it on a discounted price because they were trying to get rid of them. It wasn’t just amazingly delicious but highly over-proofed and our coloring session quickly turned into tears of both mirth and sadness and beer. I love Mary and I love Julia. I’d come back if I were ever in the hood since this was a super friendly and cute spot in a neighborhood that is ever so slowly growing and evolving.

This place is overrated. You order fresh squeezed juice and you get tropicana orange juice. You order steak & scramble and you get canned meat. Brunch here is just a complete joke. Maybe drinks could be good if you eat small dishes after being drunk. If you look for brunch, try Ltauha Restaurant instead. You will get quality local food.

First time to Ridgewood did not disappoint! We looked this place up on Unilocal after going to the holiday fair and were nervous as we wandered the very residential streets. But then we found Julia’s and it was adorable! We started with some delicious sparkling wine cocktails and then each got amazing egg dishes — the mushroom and zucchini scramble and the arepas were both great. Only issue is they were out of a few things because they were so busy.

Brunch starts at 12:00pm. I had the steak and eggs. Taste was phenominal and the $ 5 mimosas… done. On point with their food. My wife had the arepa con huevos and she loved it! This is their 1st Saturday brunch and they made it my favorite place for a saturday afternoon. End the brunch with a cup coffee and you’ll keep coming back.

I was in the neighborhood @ Ridgewood Market and wanted to finally have brunch at Gottscheer Hall. Wayyyy too crowded to even breathe so we left. I remembered that Julia’s was just a few blocks away and always wanted to go there from the fabulous reviews that I read. What a hidden gem this place is!!! You can almost miss it if you’re not paying attention. I felt like I was stepping into someones dining room. Very rustic and homey décor. Small bar up front in the smaller room and to the right is a bigger dining area. Friendly and busy staff. These poor people need a dedicated busser because the waitresses/servers are always super busy! Only waited a couple of minutes before a table was cleaned and we were seated. Fresh roses at the table. Cold water brought out in old timey bottles. The placemats are paper and they bring you a glass full of markers and colored pencils. You just can’t resist from taking out a drawing item and doodling on the placemats. Totally addicting. You really can’t go wrong with brunch here. EIGHT dollar brunch!!! FIVE dollar Mimosas!!! Holy cow, I want to come here every Sunday! Very swift and attentive service. They have a good selection of brunch items that change often. The Mimosas were so very good. Fresh squeezed orange juice and some lovely and strong champagne. Mostly a meat eater/vegetarian menu with few vegan options. I had the corn and scallion arepas with sunny side eggs and a jalapeño/cilantro aioli and a side of greens. This was quite possibly the best brunch I’ve had. Such a simple item but it was freaking amazing! Definitely a party in my mouth. The greens were arugula with a lovely balsamic dressing. It was so fresh and so bright. I’m not sure how they made that dressing(because I think it was a bit of a step up from a regular balsamic) but I can become addicted to it very easily! The arepas were nice and crisp and flavorful. Whole pieces of corn inside. Perfectly cooked eggs. The flavor combinations were so on point and so satisfying that I hardly ate the rest of the day. Thirty dollars for two brunch items, two mimosas and a lemonade!!! Awesomeness! It’s so nice to have little spots like this in the neighborhood that serve quality and delicious foods! I definitely see myself becoming a regular here!

Came here with my girlfriend to try out a new place — I really liked the atmosphere, it wasn’t pretentious and laid back. A couple of things I really liked: 1. The music — great r&b 2. The wine — they have a lot of different wine based cocktails — I had the warm wine with spices which was really good 3. The food — not an extensive menu but the food they have is very good — we ordered the charcuterie, the pecan salad and the meat pie… All excellent!

Went here for post-happy hour this Wednesday night! Tried some great plates, such as the sweet cheese plate and the roasted Brussels sprouts. The wine list was extensive and I found a tasty white which I could still rave about(coincidentally it is also their cheapest white wine, which makes it double-worth it!). Atmosphere and service were pretty outstanding — the bartender tended all the tables and was pretty amazing in handling the volume! Deducting half a star because we waited more than an hour on our food, which I am not sure whose fault it was — bu no finger-pointing here. I had a great time and would def recommend this spot to anyone in the neighborhood or close-by!

I love this place! We popped in for happy hour and light dinner on a weekday night. The beer we wanted to try happened to be the special of the day and was on sale for only $ 4. I ordered the beef turnover and was really surprised at how filling it was. I also loved that it came with a decently sized side salad of arugula tossed in balsamic vinegarette. It was topped with pumpkin seeds which is my new recipe at home. Ridgewood is benefitting seriously from new places like Julia’s and it’s sister café, Norma’s. Local food and people at its best, nested in a neighborhood that is growing in youger types looking for this type of atmosphere . Our waitress hinted that they will be expanding their brunch to Saturdays in addition to Sundays very soon. Can’t wait to go back!

Julia’s is my Cheers. And I actually worked at Cheers in Boston so I know. Excellent Food, affordable, delightful staff and AMAZING desserts. Always a good time, cool events for all neighborhood types, rotating local art and beers!!! I love Julia’s and what they contribute to Ridgewood. I don’t know where I’d be without them.

I live around the corner from this place and I swear to god I’ve never had a bad meal. Really reasonably priced /great size for small plates and I always leave happy and full.(Really great for sharing a few items) The drinks are always interesting and it’s really nice to see that their business has expanded and now they have more options! Also the music is always interesting– I think whoever is working will decipher what music is playing but it’s always something I recognize whether it’s oldies, or classics or pop from when I was a teenager, I appreciate it all haha. They make a point to change their menu seasonally so it’s refreshing to have meals that are in season and even sometimes local! Super cute, great atmosphere, even better food and drinks; I’ve spent way too much of my money there but I have no problem doing so because it’s always worth it.

It was lovely! Service was great, the drinks were amazing and the sweet cheese plate was divine. Coming back for brunch to check it out. But definitely enjoyed my first wine/cheese date here!

I still really like this place and the food is very good, but I was very disappointed that I was served what clearly wasn’t fresh squeezed orange juice but simple Tropicana, and charged $ 3 for a tiny glass of it :(

This place rulz, all these Unilocalers aren’t wrong. Nice place to unwind and have a drink, and my god — that fancy assed hot pocket — otherwise known as the braised beef turnover or something, is like my childhood wrapped up in pastry. for FIVEBUCKS! This is not where to go when you want to go crazy, or be part of some scene, but maybe you’ve grown up a bit and just want a mellow spot to drink good beer and wine(no liquor) and still feel relevant. Everyone there is nice, and one of the bathrooms is palatial. And you are a fool if you don’t order the beef turnover.

Julia’s is a Lovely place to stop in for a nice glass of wine or a cold Beer, meet up with friends, sit, chat and stay a while. Owners are very personable and friendly and the atmosphere is just right. Menu is constantly evolving with the Turnovers being a mainstay and definitely not one of my favorites. I’m a meat /cheese & fruit kinda lady with my glass of vino so would be nice to see them add these choices back to their menu as a mainstay. Very Lovely Chill spot and one of my Top Favorites for price-point, comfort factor, ambiance and overall pleasantries and another Ridgewood Classic spot!

«I call it a crookie» I can’t tell if this thing is a cracker or a cookie, but I know I have not been able to stop thinking about it all week. #homemade #local ALSO I have thought of their pork turnover all week too — this is wrong… I think I am having a mental love affair with this place… ALSO I have not had a wine here I did not love! Their menu says they have free range chicken turnovers, I asked them if they knew the chickens name and if I could see the chickens profile… we then decided to visit the farm — there were laughs all around #portlandia –Aesthetic– Depending on the night or time that you come Julias can be one or all of the following: Romantic, fun, loud or peaceful, friendly, warm, joyful, etc – ! You can come dressed up or casual and you will fit in just fine. –Service– Warm, kind, generous, accommodating, friendly, talkative, attentive, intentional. Things to know: — If you want to try their awesome food, come early! This is a small, everything homemade business, so they sometimes run out of one or two menu items. — Beer and Wine only. Solid curation of mostly local and some old world type-o-wines. Also has a good selection of local beer. –Markers and pencils on the tables are available for doodlers! *My only suggestion to the business to to add one regular/staple menu item that is all veggies ie: roasted something or other or have a kale salad… you know what I am sayin? Anyways, Julia… I will see you tomorrow probably… Or maybe today? You have brunch on the weekend, right? #Iheartyou

Love. I’m a little late with the review being I went for mother’s day for brunch just me and my almost 1 year old. Must have missed the rush of people. Bartender has the coolest mustache and was super helpful and sweet. I had a julias shandy it’s beer and lemonade. Sounds weird I know tastes great. Had brunch but don’t remember exactly what it was called. It had a salad some purple hash potatoes and like a puff pastry with scrambled eggs and I think prosciutto. Anyway it was hot and fresh oh and $ 8. I would go every Sunday I swear nor every day for that matter.

Attended the soft-opening for Julia’s this past weekend and I have to say that they’re off to an amazing start! The establishment was packed from wall to wall as locals came out to support this classy wine bar. It was great to see Crystal and Denise(the ladies from Norma’s) and the rest of the staff busy and bustling through the crowd with smiles. They were serving up cheese plates(one sweet, one savory), charcuterie, turnovers, delicious wines and beers. This establishment has a bar, in addition to a beautifully decorated sitting room. I can’t wait to have awesome dates here. Amazing to see the owners bring this idea from dream to reality… and to share it all with the residents of Ridgewood! Here’s to Julia’s.
