The Original Caribbean Pot

My advice: STAY AWAY! If you want Caribbean food, go to Carena’s grill across the street. Don’t believe the few spam 5 star reviews posted on Unilocal.In case you would like to know why I think this place isn’t worth your time or money, here is my experience:
I went to this place after I got a groupon. I still wanted to give it a try despite few terrible reviews I read. I didn’t care if the place smells weird or the service is slow (as some reviews mentioned and turned out true). All what I wanted was a decent Caribbean meal. We ordered: a beef patty, Jerk chicken, and sweet&sour chicken. They charge $ 4 for a beef patty which isn’t much better than the ones you buy from Sams or Walmart 5 times cheaper. The sweet&sour chicken was alright. The jerk chicken was terrible. Chicken tasted reheated (Yes! chicken has a different taste when it is reheated in case you didn’t notice). The cabbage and rice that come with entrees were ok.
As soon as I asked for the check and mentioned that I have a groupon, the guy interrupted me «well.You should’ve reported your groupon as soon as you came». I’m not sure if he was right about that but then he mentioned that many items are excluded from the promotion. I told him this wasn’t mentioned on Groupon and he said it’s their fault. I still got the promotional value but overall I thought my money was wasted on below average food.
In case you still wanna go: They have a dinner buffet on Fridays for $ 17

Very strange place. The sign was blinking open so I thought I’d go in and try one of their Caribbean dishes. I walked into a dark restaurant with most chairs on the tables and two guys laying down. I asked if they were open and the unfriendly woman told me that they were, & I asked who the cook was and she pointed to one of the guys laying down! I just left. Wouldn’t risk ordering anything from this place.
Just weird, like its a front for something else or some nefarious activity

i have better experiences. to start off the rest. is super dark and empty. the cooks are rude. i ordered a groupon deal which was for $ 20 worth of food only to arrive and be told that it was only for dine in which was not specified on the voucher. food was super average and my curry from my curry goat and my curry goat tasted completly diff. almost as if it was a diff sauce. will not be returning

We arrived early for dinner about 4:30. Upon arrival there was a thick incense smell in the walkway. I like incense but not at a restaurant. After passing through that into the main restaurant there was a «gym locker» smell, no food aromas that were appealing. It was last week (AUGUST) and it was very muggy and warm in the restaurant. The television was blaring with a soccer game on it. There was a fan on but it gave little relief. There were two people sitting in the restaurant. One young man listening to his phone? not eating nor drinking anything. The other one rubbing his bare feet at the bar, again not eating nor drinking anything but ‘visiting?” I am assuming. One guy… brought our menus, cooked, delivered food. The menu? ¼ of it was priced $ 20-​$ 50 for a meal the other ¾ was average restaurant pricing. $ 7.50 — $ 15 per entrée. One woman came in her bedroom slippers and picked up a togo order. Our food… healthy portions of delicious cabbage and red beans and rice that was equally as delicious. I ordered Jerk Chicken that appeared to be a nice sized portion but in fact was ½ bones! the taste was average. My friend ordered pineapple chicken and the chicken was brightly colored yellow? as if it were dyed? we did not understand how it got that color but the taste was average and there were no bones. There were no «Meat Pies» on the menu to choose from. Very disappointed in our visit.

Excellent food and customer service.
The curry goat and chicken are very good. The brown stew fish with the kingfish was outstanding however my Caribbean guest ordered the Snapper.
Next time I’m ordering the Snapper with the barbecue stew.
Please don’t forget the ginger peach drink
Now be patient the food is cooked from scratch. No desserts however you’re so filled with the plantains and the appetizers it’s ok.

Ordered my food waited 20mins before they came back out to tell me they ran out of what I ordered.

I just paid $ 20 dollars on Unilocal for a $ 40 dollar voucher to eat at this place, my husband goes to use it and they told him he can’t use it, that they don’t have any vouchers and they don’t know why Unilocal put it up. Ether they are trying to pull something or Unilocal,now I probably won’t get my money back.
