I had a last minute party planned for the NBA finals game and needed to feed 16 hungry friends! Called Rudys and since it was also Father’s Day I was told they had a line out the dooe! The nice lady still made it happen! She had my order ready on time, was very accommodating and food was amazing! Love this place! Thanks for making my party a success. Everyone loved the food

I’ve always loved Rudys. From their melt in your mouth brisket to their bbq sauce. Their food alone was easly 4 stars. But pulling up to my neighbrhood rec center to volunteer when my neighbors were hit with the wrath of the overflowing Brazos and seeing Rudys so selflessly donated breakfast tacos for the volunteers and first reaponders made me wish Unilocal had a 10 star rating. Thanks guys. Your generosity has not gone unnoticed! *river’s edge resident*

I love this place! The staff is so very friendly every time that we go! The food is sooooooo cheap and soooooo good! Even the turkey is moist! The potato salad is just like my moms! I love that they do charity work as well. We go go here a lot for lunch, it’s easy to get in and out of quickly because the staff is on top of things! I plan on going here many more times!

I had to have some BBQ while in Texas, so a friend recommended I try Rudy’s for the first time. Where I’m from, it’s hard to find tender, moist, flavorful brisket. Rudy’s does not disappoint! The«moist» cut has everything you are looking for in a brisket: flavorful bark, nice smoke, and enough fat to give it moistness and a punch of flavor. The Cream of Corn was the best side in my opinion, whereas the beans were so-so. Also had samplings of the sausage, chicken, and pork ribs, which were all also delicious. But the brisket is what is going to bring me back to this joint!

You have to have either the creamed corn or potato salad. Best sides! I had the baby back ribs here for the first time and they are my new favorite. I thought nothing could beat the moist brisket but I was wrong. This location is always clean and they are very friendly. Great place to stop for good BBQ.

wow! Hugo, from London, is totally the bomb and the food is too! seriously, great service(his taste for food is on point for sure and he’s not even from Texas) this bbq is seriously next to none. there’s not many locations inside Houston but I promise it’s worth the trek. beautiful night on the Parkin. clean facility and did I mention the delicious food!!! sheesh thank the lord I was in the area and wanted to try it(plus a gift card incentive lol) but I’m hooked!!! will definitely be coming back for a sausage sandwich and some«moist» brisket. yum times 9,000!

I don’t know what all the hype is about this place. They are overpriced and I have had much better brisket. The wait staff are friendly and the restaraunt is nice and clean. If you want some really good brisket, try Witt Pitt, just a few miles further in Rosenberg.

The food here is great. It’s BBQ that’s worth showing off to non Texans. Each time I go I buy the meat by the half pound rather than a sandwich. More meat without the hassle of consuming bread. The chocolate pudding and corn are hands down the best. It’s a little tricky to find off of 59⁄69

Ah, Rudy’s. Land of hearty, flavorful(yes, greasy!) meats. A place where there are no plates — you eat directly from«plates» made of wax paper. Finger-lickin’ good. * Pork ribs: 4 stars. great flavor, really moist * Baby back ribs: 3.5 stars. almost as good as the pork ribs! * Brisket«moist»: 3.5 stars. everyone always loves the brisket — I think it’s only OK * Sausage: 4 stars. TASTY. * Jalapeño sausage: 4 stars. medium spice level — packs some heat! a little on the salty side, but delicious nonetheless. * Turkey: 3 stars. Not bad, but obviously it’s going to taste more dry and less flavorful in comparison to the other grease-a-licious meats on the menu. * Creamed corn: 3 stars. super super rich… too rich for me, but others like it * Three bean salad: 4 stars. slightly vinegar-y — provides a nice, lighter contrast to break up all the heaviness and greasiness of the meats that you’re chowing down on There are 2 sauce options: regular and sissy«sause» — both of which you can buy in the store to have your own stash at home.

I am happy to update my review for this Rudy’s location. When I first visited, they just opened not too long ago. Possibly due to the new location and staffs, etc, I didn’t enjoy their BBQ as much as I wanted. However, it’s different this time. This location has opened over half a year now and they have improved their skills! We ordered our typical food, moist briskets and pork ribs, along with their amazing sizes, cream corn, cold slaw, and beans. I loved their moist brisket! It was juicy and well seasoned and smoked. Although it was slightly fatter than I normally liked, I really enjoyed it a lot. Their pork ribs were also very good but slightly light on the seasoning. They could use more seasoning rubs on the ribs. Sizes are always amazing. I really like Rudy’s because it’s simple style yet amazing flavors.

I will always have a fond place in my heart for Rudy’s as it was one of my favorite restaurants to frequent back in my undergrad days at UT. I was so excited to find out that they were building one out in Sugar Land because we don’t really have many bbq places out here. You can’t really go wrong with anything on the menu. Personally, I love the extra moist brisket, St. Louis pork ribs, jalapeño sausage, creamed corn, potato salad, and smoked chicken. Their chopped beef isn’t bad, either. The banana pudding is also pretty good, but I’m not that impressed with their beans. The food isn’t the cheapest, but it’s meat, which is a higher cost item to begin with. They sell breakfast tacos in their grocery store area as well as bottles of their Sissy and regular Rudy’s bbq sauce. Don’t forget to pack baggies of pickles, onions, jalapeños, and peppers if you’re taking your food to go!

Yesss. I haven’t tried many BBQ places growing up, so Rudy’s definitely takes the top spot on my list compared to Old Hickory, Pappa’s, and SpringCreek. When Rudy’s first came to Houston, I was disappoint all their locations were all the far corners of Houston except for South West side. So I was very ecstatic when the Sugar Land location finally came around. I always go for the moist brisket, love how juicy that meat is, with the perfect amount of fat and seasoning. Sometimes I get a cut that is so moist that it glistens. I could practically die happy and go to heaven right there on the spot. Occasionally it’s a miss and I get some dry parts with a hardened crust — my reason for the missing star. I also get a half regular sausage(can’t really handle spicy) to go along with the brisket, topping it off with some onions and the rudy’s unique bbq sauce on a slice of white bread. But the best part, obviously, would be the cream corn. A pint of that shweet gooey goodness will have me squirming in my seat with joy.

Barbecue in Sugar Land! Thank you, Jesus. Just what this town has been missing. I was really excited when Rudy’s came into town, because it’s my gold standard of barbecue, back from my college days. Honestly, if you can’t beat Rudy’s brisket, I don’t think you’re ready to be in the Texas big time yet. Rudy’s brisket may not be king when compared to the Texas greats, but it’s still darn good. And I don’t think I’ve found sauce I’ve liked better yet. It’s cheap, fast, and delicious, every single time. Do yourself a favor and get the moist brisket. Lean brisket shouldn’t even exist in my opinion. And creamed corn, always. Top a slice of bread with some brisket, creamed corn, and some Rudy’s BBQ sauce, and you’ll have a good time. Only thing about this location is it’s hard to reach from the freeway. You’ve got to make some weird navigational turns to make it here, but do not be deterred! Delicious barbecue awaits. Welcome to Sugar Land, Rudy’s — hope you tenure here is long and glorious!

The location is a bit obscure and is a bit hard to reach from the freeway. I would definitely recommend using some sort of GPS to reach it, especially in the evening. The location has plenty of parking. The interior is the typical Rudy’s setup and decorations. Plenty of TVs around so you won’t miss a game that you want to watch. The food is the usual, Rudy’s quality. Pretty good BBQ. No complaints on the food. Everything is what you expect it to be. The quality doesn’t disappoint. I’ve never had to wait in line to get food here either. Everything was really quick. The next bit is the reason why I gave this place a 3-star versus a 4-star. I’ve been to this location 3 – 4 times and a couple of times in other locations. I’ve never really felt like the service was great or friendly at this location. It would be nice if the guy/gal taking the order would smile a bit when I’m trying to make conversation. I didn’t feel like they were friendly at all. True, they did their jobs and gave me whatever I ordered, but I didn’t feel welcome at this location. That is definitely not the case at any of the other Rudy’s I’ve been to. This is one area I hope this establishment can improve in. All in all, good food, not sure about the atmosphere created by the employees.

Being a California boy, a good BBQ had to be my first stop for food after arriving in Houston. Thank you fellow Unilocalers for your Rudy reviews. Your reviews are the sole reason why I ate way too much, and needed to drink a whole bottle of Pepto Bismol after eating way too much. Getting to Rudy’s was not easy. My Garmin GPS took me to HEB market. My iPhone took me to a Garden Center on the other side of the highway from Rudy’s. When I finally spotted them, I still couldn’t find the right street to take me there. But, getting lost only got me hungrier. After 15 minutes of being lost, we finally walked through the front door of Rudy’s, only to be totally confused. Rudy’s is like no other BBQ places that I have been to in California. Luckily the manager was there to give us directions and samples of the meats. They are a giant meat market. All their meats are sold by the pound. We ordered a pound of brisket, half a chicken, and half a sausage. The food we ordered was all placed in a plastic soda case, with sheets of wax paper for us to eat on. They had a condiment bar with pickles, jalapeños and carrots, onions, and tomatillos. Plastic ware was available as well. No napkins, just paper towels. The food was great even though I ate it on wax paper. The brisket was like no other that I have tried. It was moist and tender. It had a wonderful smokey flavor and perfectly seasoned. It was easy to cut with my plastic fork. They had bottles of their own BBQ sauce which gave the meat even more flavor. Even my wannabe vegan daughter liked the brisket, and she hates most meats. The chicken and sausage were not nearly as good as the brisket, but, still good. Rudy’s is hands down the best BBQ that I have ever been to. They put all the California BBQ places to shame. They are a chain. The closest one to California is in Arizona. The scary thing is that I know that there are better Texas BBQ’s that I have yet to try. But since I haven’t been to anything better yet, Rudy’s and their brisket will 5 stars. Luckily, I have another bottle of Pepto Bismol.

Praise heaven for bringing this awesome BBQ chain to southwestern Houston! After trying perhaps the best American BBQ in its Austin branch, I was excited to see this so close to home, and it did not disappoint as it delivers the same delicious BBQ experience. Out of the menu, I definitely recommend the extra moist brisket over anything else. As the name suggests, this meat cut will change your perception of dry BBQ! Every bite into the juicy brisket is such a joy and even more so with Rudy’s signature sauce. The cream corn is also a recommended side too! Sprinkled with ground pepper, it is an absolutely delicious complement to the BBQ. Unfortunately, the service is nowhere near as good as its Austin branch. The cashiers were not exactly as friendly as the Austin branch’s, and I was a bit disappointed that they didn’t ask to sample because I wanted my dad to try out this restaurant that I had raved about. Almost all of the staff are behind the counter, so good luck trying to get someone’s attention if you need something after you sit down since all cashiers are busy handling the constantly large crowd. PROTIP: Make sure you get everything before you leave the counter!

My bf and I were in the Sugarland area and really wanted some good ol’ Southern BBQ. We Unilocaled bbq places in the area but didn’t find anything that sounded good. My bf finally gave in and suggested Rudy’s even though it’s a chain restaurant. I’d never been before, but he’s a huge fan of their breakfast tacos that he’s had at work. I love the arrangement of the restaurant when you first step inside. There are windows to let light in and patio tables arranged around the windows on the outer edge of the restaurant. There’s an outside patio, and inside there are long tables to just sit and enjoy your meal like one big happy BBQ family gathering. I tried the pork loin sandwich, he got the pulled pork and brisket sandwiches, plus an order of ½ lb moist brisket to share, 2 bottled sodas and potato salad. All this cost under $ 40! Shocking! Seriously. The meat in our sandwiches were so tender and the moist brisket is melt in your mouth delicious. I drenched my BBQ in Rudy’s BBQ sauce and it just intensified the flavors. I’m convinced that we have to come here at least twice a month bc BBQ is my favorite. For to-go boxes, there are none. You have to grab some wax paper wrap at the same table where the plastic utensils are and grab a brown bag. You’re good to go after that. The tables don’t have napkins and there’s a huge sink where you can wash your hands after, since BBQ is so hands on(duh). I just wish there was Mac and cheese here too! That would be perfect!

I’m surprised I haven’t reviewed this place yet! I’ve practically been going there every day for their breakfast tacos and the people know me by now! We were so blessed that a Rudy’s opened up in the Sugar Land/Richmond/Rosenberg area! When the rumor spread that they were thinking about opening up a location I think the buzz became viral and when the place finally opened up it was packed! The furor has died down a bit but the place has become very popular! Located off the freeway it’s so convenient for us Greatwood/New Territory people who crave BBQ but don’t want to drive miles for good BBQ! The customer service here is outstanding and I hope they keep it up! The fixin’s are great as always! Plenty of pickles, onions, jalapeño peppers and great green and red salsa… all abundant! You eat everything on butcher paper and there’s plenty! Your BBQ sauces on the table… sissy and full bore! And plenty of long tables if you have a BIG party! Check it out! You won’t be disappointed.

How to get here: turn into the memorial Herman hospital entrance on your right if going south on 59, after passing 99. Then there will be a sign to go left another quarter mile till you see the place. Hopfully they will have more signs and ones that light up so you can see. If it’s your first time venturing out, better go in the day. So happy that a location opened up in Sugar Land. The bbq was okay compared to the location near Katy. We ordered everything because I was starving. I would give it a 3.5 star for now and based on my recent visit. Some of the bbq was dry and wasn’t what I expected to be, such was juicy and flavorful. It had flavor, just not like I had at the other locations. My moist bbq wasn’t very moist. The turkey was very very dry. The cream of corn was yummy. Bathrooms were clean. Large sinks are located right outside the restrooms to hand washing only. They even have a large sign stating so. The topping bar consists of onions and pickles. Plenty of tables for any party size. They hot sauce and bbq sauces are anyways kept filled so kudos for staying on top of that. Remember, no to go boxes. … just bags. Overall will still return !
