This was our second visit and we were once again delighted. Best restaurant in Richmond, hands down. Our server was elegant, classy, friendly and incredibly customer service. We said«thank you» so many times when you would check on us that we wondered if our words came across insincere. The drink specials were very South Beach-like, the appetizer was a churrasco-cheese dish, and our shared entrée was the phenomenal pork chop. Dessert was the flourless choc cake, but these aren’t the only reason to patronize them. Unlike many restaurants in Richmond, the owners at Lucy’s radiate their customer-centered focus. From beginning to end we really enjoyed everything about this wonderful establishment. They are the standard to beat

Next time at Lucy’s I’m going to order an entrée. They seem good. For my first experience there was more that was wanted. The Brussels sprouts salad was good just wish there was more of a variety of ingredients. The Panna cotta was not the right thing for me basil with raspberry sauce and candied cashews. Next time I’ll try the ice cream sandwich. Service was on par for the most part for what one would expect. Nice atmosphere.

On a beautiful afternoon strolling around Richmond and into Jackson Ward, we ducked into Lucy’s when another eating establishment had a line that caused us to rethink our options. What a lovely, charming and delicious change of direction. We hit Lucy’s for brunch, and the menu was straight out of a Culinary School. Since you can’t order and taste everything on the menu, you gotta choose something, but in our case we had a brilliant idea: SHARE! I ordered French Pound(French toast made with lemon pound cake, blackberry sauce, local honey and toasted almonds). My colleague ordered Iron Eggs (Two eggs baked in cast-iron ramekin with spinach, red pepper flakes, and parmesan, side of herb roasted potatoes and pan seared tomatoes. Sourdough or wheat toast). The tomatoes, in particular, were really, really tasty. Both treasures cost $ 10 each. Are you kidding me??? All around us were eating options galore, which beckons a return visit. The portions were just right for the brunch hour. Lucy’s has an attractive décor — clean, bright and friendly. The service a-ok, too.

The people alone at Lucy’s are enough to give this place 5 stars. I checked out this place for the first time about a month ago and the waitress and I spoke about my upcoming trip to Spain. She was stoked for me and told me to come back in when I got back and show her pics. Well I decided I needed some good eats for lunch today and went by and she was there and the first thing she said was«Sit at the bar and tell me about Spain!!» Ok people come on, it made my am. What a cool chick. Ok besides people… The food… Oh my the food. The first time I went I got the meatless meatball sub with a side salad. The«meatballs» seriously knocked it out of the park they were so delicious. Today I tried one of their lunch specials and got a mixed greens salad with grilled pork… The meat wasn’t fatty in the least and the shallot vinaigrette was amazing. Since I had a salad I wanted a little something sweet so the waitress told me her fav was the mint chocolate ice cream sandwich. Let me tell you this thing is homemade and tastes like real mint! Not the fake ice cream mint but real mint. It was the perfect size!

Sunday brunch review. Came here around 11:30 and it wasn’t too crowded. Waited maybe 15 mins. My parents loved the ambience and décor. Server was very nice, told us her favorite dishes and we ended up going with her suggestions. The pork and eggs which is their version of eggs Benedict was really good. It came with roasted potatoes which were excellent and the crunchy bread underneath the eggs was a nice change from the normal biscuits. My mom got the quiche dish which was also very good but I think I liked mine more. And finally my dad got the French pound which is French toast with a blackberry sauce honey and almonds. It wasn’t overly rich, just enough sweetness and the pound cake in the French toast was awesome. We all loved the food and my mom even enjoyed her mimosa which was quite strong!

Came here for brunch assuming it would be packed like it usually is, and to my surprise I was immediately seated. We had the witted huevos($ 9) that were delicious! Sooo good, the white beans are such a great touch and they come in a sauce that is just so yummy. We also got the poached eggs with the cured pork loin($ 10); TO-DIE-FOR. The hollandaise sauce is a scallop version and it is the best I’ve ever had. The eggs were perfectly poached. The bread was perfect as well. Just overall great. I definitely recommend Lucy’s for brunch.

Lucy’s is among the best. Thank you for your great food and good service. Just one thing: one of the maître’d’s refuses to seat people at a booth even when the place is just about empty and near closing time.

I came here during my brief visit to Richmond one night, after calling to make sure they served dinner since all of the reviews are for brunch! Spoiler alert… THEYDOANDIT’S GREAT. The entire place was adorable and I had a really great view of it because for some crazy crazy reason, there was only one table occupied at 7pm on a Thursday! Lucky for us, we got seated immediately and it completely filled up an hour later. This may have mildly impacted our service. Anyway, we started off with free bread and olive oil which were basically equivalent to crack. I’m not sure what kind of olive oil it was but they clearly make their own bread and the two together were just unimaginable in the best way possible. We got three rounds. On top of that, we ordered the cheese plate, which came with biscuit/cracker things, olives, pickled onions maybe, and the meat of the day which was steak. Sounds weird, but it was perfect. Next, I ordered the Non spaghetti and meatballs(spaghetti squash, vegan meatballs). I am no vegan or vegetarian or gluten free eater, but god DAMN this was amazing! I ordered it because I had read that it’s a popular dish here but wow I could not believe the texture and flavor of the meatballs, and how UNCOMPROMISED the typical concept of «meatball» was in the form of these avocado dream balls. Lastly, we ended with a perfect homemade cookie ice cream sandwich that they kindly cut in two for me to split with my friend. It was heaven. The servers we had were nice but nothing remarkable. I would definitely come back for the food though, as it definitely spoke for itself!

Finally got a chance to check out Lucy’s for Sunday Brunch. We arrived around 12:15 and the place was packed! It is a pretty small place and there is no separate waiting area so if it is chilly outside, as it was on yesterday when we went, you will be forced to get very cozy with your fellow patrons as you all attempt to make it through being battered and bruised as people are trying to come in and leave out. Although there was a bit of a crunch we only waited about 10 minutes before being seated. This was wonderful since we both had arrived super hungry! My advice is to only go with 1 person; it is a lot easier to get a two-sitter as oppose to anything else. There were several bigger groups there way before us that were still waiting for seats when our food arrived at our table. On to service. Service was friendly, albeit, our server could have been a a bit more upbeat, she was prompt and had everything we asked out within a timely manner. I ordered the French Pound, and not that it wasn’t good, it just wasn’t for me. I felt like something was missing. It could be that I typically like my french toast without all the frills — you know drowned in syrup and cinnamon/sugar — however, a much fancier plate I was brought — covered in a jam purée with almonds and a light syrup drizzle… sigh. I am starting to feel that maybe my palette is a bit too simple for the«new» RVA. Oh well, moving along. I also decided to try out a Bloody Mary for the first time — BADIDEA! I can’t say that this is in anyway a reflection on Lucy’s as I have no frame of reference to compare tastes too, but the ‘Bloody Lucy’ as they refer to it is definitely an acquired taste I took 2 sips and knew it would not be finished. I will definitely stick with my trusted friend the Mimosa going forward. My companion ordered a club sandwich which aside from the onions he really liked. Initially the kitchen accidentally made him a sandwich called ‘The Wallace’ for which the waitress promptly picked up before either of us noticed that it was the incorrect sandwich. Lucy’s then went as far as to not even charge us for the club sandwich, being apologetic that they had brought out the wrong one initially. We were super shocked. We had not complained or even frowned at the additional wait time for the correct sandwich; however, they still felt the need to go above and beyond and for that I will definitely return, this time, for dinner.

Lucy’s has been on my bookmarks for quite a while and I was able to check this place out a few weeks ago. I came here with a friend who has never been as well and she also heard good things about this place. This restaurant has a homey/country vibe to it and is very welcoming. We came on a Saturday for lunch and we were able to snag a table with no wait to our surprise. I had a really hard time figuring out what to get but I eventually decided on the Iron eggs which is served on a skillet. It had no meat and is basically eggs, spinach, potatoes and seared tomatoes with wheat toast on the side with jam/butter. This dish was healthy and good but wasn’t spectacular. I also got a side of bacon because I was still hungry and the bacon here was nice and thick. My friend got the pork and eggs and I liked her dish a lot more; it was their version of eggs Benedict and their hollandaise sauce was on point here. The service was spotty when it came to getting the check and getting my side of bacon but for everything else our waitress was fine. The mens bathroom was very dim which made it hard to do any grooming if needed. haha. If you want to grab a place to eat for lunch/brunch I would come here if you’re in the Jackson Ward area. I want to get something else from their menu that will really impress me.

Where to being. Amazing restaurant. Awesome food cooked to perfection, clean and modern inside and grrat wait staff. The food was incredible. I ordered the Bone In pork chop with Bok Choy and gnocchi. Amazing. My friend ordered the Duck confit and it was amazing. I also ordered the flourless cake and it was great also. Very tasty. Even the decaf coffee was great. The bathroom is very clean also. I definitely recommend this restaurant and I rarely give any establishment 5 stars. A great place to eat.

Went to this place for brunch and it was busy, rightfully so. The Bloody Mary’s were very good, and the food follows. I had the Witte’s Huevos, if you like beans, chips, salsa, and avocado then this is the dish for you. I wish there was a little more to make the chips have something on each chip but all and all it was very flavorful. I would recommend putting your name on the list it’s worth it.

–Meatless Meatball Sub– My vegetarian friend ordered the meatless meatball sub. The«meatballs» were unexpectedly delicious! They are made out of an unusual combo of artichoke, spinach and avocado – it may sound a little gross, but it really does work! The texture of the meatball is softer than it’s usual meat counterpart, but it’s not too squishy and the flavor of the sub as a whole was great. –The Dip– I honestly wasn’t expecting too much out of my sandwich, but their house made roast beef sure knows how to leave an impression! The beef is really tender and flavorful. It is served with sautéed mushrooms and onions with melted provolone cheese on a baguette with au-jus on the side. When I was ordering, I was split between their Downtown Cheddar and this sandwich, but our waitress said she could bring out a side of their horseradish mayo, which normally accompanies the Downtown Cheddar. I thought the horseradish mayo was great with the roast beef and melded really well with the sandwich as a whole so I would definitely asking for a side of that mayo if you can do a little spicy! I also tried their bloody Mary which wasn’t anything too special IMO and my friend and I could not taste any alcohol – which is a good or bad thing depending how you look at it. Overall, this place may seem unassuming, but they’re serving out some pretty delicious food! I can’t wait to try out their bunch menu sometime soon.

I very rarely am WOWED by a brunch spot but I would make the drive to Richmond every weekend for Lucy’s. Stumbled across it because it was close to the hotel we were staying at and decided it give it a shot. At 10:30 on a Sunday morning, the wait was only about 20 minutes which was very reasonable. We ended up sitting at the bar which was fine with us — we prefer bar seats for a quick meal. The bartender was kept busy with mimosas and awesome looking Bloody Mary’s but did a good job of keeping an eye on us and didn’t make us feel ignored which I always appreciate. We started with the cream cheese and crostini appetizer which was AWESOME. I would put this on all of my food if I had it at my house. And what a neat idea to have brunch appetizers! Our main courses were more standard brunch fare but still delicious. I had the iron eggs which were good but took a long time to cool down enough for me to eat them so I got to sample my boyfriend’s entrée. He ordered the pork & eggs and I definitely would recommend that to anyone who loves a good eggs benedict — we scraped the the plate for the scallion hollandaise. The décor of the restaurant is cute. I loved the vertical gardens on the walls and just enough of an antique look with a modern finish. Also, I was very impressed with how clean everything was. I even looked up how old the restaurant was to make sure it wasnt brand new. Turns out it was about a year old but looked pristine still. Kudos to the owners and staff for keeping it that way, it goes a long way!

Here’s my breakdown for Lucy’s: 1 amazing star for the bacon donut holes. They came out piping hot and I almost burned my tongue because I couldn’t wait to try it. So worth it! The warm and slightly crunchy to the center of the donut with the pleasant little bits of bacon was delightful. I’m actually not a huge donut fan but trust me when I say these are a must-have for brunch! 1 star for my dish called the Iron Eggs. If you’re like me and you’re trying to find a healthier alternative(especially eating ALL the bacon donuts) this is the dish. Iron skillet egg soufflé stuffed with spinach, cheese and red pepper which added a great kick with a side of roasted tomatoes. Very filling! 1 awesome star for the corned beef. If I knew how tasty this was going to be, I would have ordered it myself! Their big chucks of corned beef were delicious, topped with perfectly fluffy scrambled eggs. They drizzled a sriracha aioli to finish and it was perfect! 1 star for atmosphere and service. It’s a small joint but very charming. Service was attentive and even though every table was filled, there was no lack in attention. The minus 1 star is due to the homemade Bloody Mary. It could have had a little more kick and spice to it.

Excellent lunch. The service, food, preparation, ingredients and experience were all well executed. Not sure I would have changed anything actually. Hope I can get back soon!

The meatless meatball sub at Lucy’s is, by far, the best meatball sub I’ve ever had. Ever. It may actually rank among the best sandwiches I’ve ever had. The explosion of flavors balance one another for a perfect bite. I was initially apprehensive about the texture of the«meatballs,» but their softness plays well with the stringy chewy cheese and the crispy outside of the bread.(And when they inevitably start spilling out the side of the sandwich this pliability makes it easy to push them back in with your fork.) The side salad that comes with the sandwich is also excellent. No limp romaine to be found here — instead you get a kaleidoscope of different greens, a hearty portion, and a tangy dressing. This is officially my new go-to sandwich in Richmond. It doesn’t get better than this, folks. Now that I’ve finished rhapsodizing about the food, the place itself is adorable. Tucked away on an unassuming lot in Jackson Ward next to a row of nondescript shops, you step in and the space immediately feels cozy without being cramped. Friendly service completes the set. Lucy’s earned its five stars.

I love Lucy’s! I came here hungry on a Friday afternoon. I just got off of a two-hour bus, and we happened to walk past this small restaurant. Lucy’s is classy and has really thoughtful accents like these amazing plant picture frames(see picture). It’s a smaller restaurant, so it can accommodate smaller groups well. I got the meatless meatball sub that comes with either fries or a side salad. The meatless meatballs are made with artichoke, spinach and avocado, i.e. more creative than just tofu. The dish came out piping hot and with gooey melted mozzarella cheese on top. It was hearty, filling, and pretty healthy. Lucy’s menu changes regularly, and they have fun and seasonal specials. Creative dishes, relaxing atmosphere, great service — try it out!

Very quaint place in an awesome looking district of Richmond, VA. I came here with my family in the midst of a Father’s Day road trip. Upon entering I loved the atmosphere that Lucy’s presented itself with. As a family who was just passing through, our wait was about 30 minutes(on Father’s Day) which it might be a little bad for a me on a normal day, I totally understood the busyness. I was perusing the menu before getting seated, and the Brunch place seemed to have a nice, but short selection of food options for everyone. All ages seemed to be happy in this restaurant. I ordered the brunch steak special. Man, I was not disappointed at all! The steak from Monrovia Farm definitely did not disappoint. Though I was not completely filled up after the meal, the food was definitely eloquent and on a different level. The servers were very courteous(maybe it’s the southern hospitality), and everyone just seemed to be enjoying themselves in this restaurant. If I am ever back in the area, I will come back again!
