The session was rushed. The background fabrics are horribly wrinkled and it shows in the photos. The photographer snapped at me while suggesting which background to go with, raising her voice to say «I have 12 years of experience. I know what I’m doing.» Well alrighty, rude lady. We still got good shots of our baby, which was great, but it’s unfortunate the background is so damn wrinkled– makes the photos look cheap. Upon picking up our photos, the studio appeared abandoned and we waited over ten minutes and had to ask multiple JCP employees to get someone to help us pick up our order. They did end up up-​selling us on our package (mainly because my husband thought the prices were fair… yet he was the one that first pointed out how bad the backgrounds looked). Meh, you live and learn. I will not be returning to this location. It needs better management.

This place has everything! Props, backgrounds, great ideas! The creativity is over the top and the prices are always right! You can’t go wrong. I do suggest making an appointment!

I went for Christmas photos, and was planning — how shall I say — a «non-​traditional» photo. Super easy to book online, and when I called Matthew was super helpful with walking me through which backgrounds they had etc.
Truth: I wanted the awesome background and I wanted to be seriously tacky in front of it. When I got there, Matthew was there (he’d requested to be my photographer after we spoke on the phone — talk about seeing the customer service experience through!) and totally willing to go all out with me. I was decked head to toe in Oakland gear, with props, some of them moderately illicit. Matthew told me what I could and couldn’t do (don’t be gross — none of this was sexual), gave me lots of different angles and suggested ways to fit all my props into the frame.
I got 20 or so nice shots before we went back out to decide how I’d pay for it/​what package I wanted etc. And then, MATTHEW SAVED ME $ 116. My total bill for 60 cards, a CD with three photos I have the rights to, an 8×10 of my choice and a sheet of wallets? $ 42. FORTY TWO DOLLARS because Matthew helped me get the best value possible.
So just book it, you know you want to. And ask for Matthew, especially if you want to have some fun with it. He’s a blast.
