I took a sewing class here many years ago & I remember how much I loved it! Heidi is super sweet & it was very enjoyable.

The visual merchandiser, who is probably Heidi herself, is amazing. There’s always something bright and beautiful in the window that lures me into this boutique. I only wish the selection was larger. I’m usually done browsing for something specific before Heidi can emerge from the sewing room, all super jovial and cool. It’s one of the best boutiques in Carytown, just for the customer service and appeal.

I stumbled across this fabulous boutique when I was wandering around Carytown; I’m not even from Richmond! I loved virtually everything in the store, and got a great black Susana Monaco dress. I know I’ll be back — Heidi was wonderful to work with and the items were unique. It’s worth the hour and a half drive down from Northern Virginia!

This fashion-​forward clothing boutique is set in the heart of Carytown (with a recent move bringing it to a large, bright space in Cary Court) and boasts a carefully selected collection of women’s clothing and accessories. Heidi, the owner, has a great eye for style and can alter anything to create the perfect fit. This is a fantastic option if you’re like me and sometimes have fit issues. Plus, who doesn’t want something custom tailored?
If you’re in the market to learn sewing skills yourself, she even offers classes in the back room of her shop. I haven’t yet taken one, but I’ve witnessed the tail end of one of her children’s classes and it definitely looked fun!
From adorable dresses to on-​trend tops to funky and affordable jewelry (most, if not all, made by local jewelry designers), I always score something fashionable to add to my wardrobe. Thank you, Heidi Story, for providing knowledgeable and personal service, fantastic product, and always coming through when I need a new dress. (I can’t bold «need» in this review, but I definitely do mean NEED. Some people need food, I need dresses.)

Heidi’s background in fashion design sure helps her well-​edited store stand out on Cary Street. From her kid’s sewing classes (my daughter is begging for them because our cute, older neighbor took them and made the coolest purse) to her perfect alterations, you can’t beat her service. Her Ella Moss pics are always perfect, and she seems to find the best local jewelry artists and top notch Chloe knock-​off bags. Love.

I love Heidi Story boutique. I stumbled unto this amazing clothing store when attending watermelon festival in Cary town. It was so hot and I needed to cool down. Little did I know I would fall in love with the most beautiful set of women’s clothing. I literally wanted to buy the whole store and their prices are so reasonable. Heidi herself studied at parsons and she is the sweetest and most helpful shopper I’ve ever met. There is no pressure to buy and if it doesn’t look good on you, she’ll gently let you know. She is unlike any store owner I’ve met. other sales ppl are always pressuring into buying everything and tell you how you look amazing in all the outfits but not Heidi. Heidi is a gem and Im so ecstatic that I found this store. The priceless part is that she alters the clothes for free. I found this lovely strapless dress which was size 10 and I’m size 2 and she was able to do magic to alter the dress and fits me fabulously. I could never find a perfect customized fitted clothes at any store but now I can and this is a fantastic benefit.

Heidi Story always has the cutest, unique dresses. Heidi is fantastic at what she does– selecting great styles for her shop and helping you pick dresses that will look good on your figure (she has never asked
my size but always picks dressed off the shelf that fit). She could not be any nicer or more helpful & will always give an honest opinion when you want one– even if means you won’t be buying a dress! This is my go-​to shop anytime I need a new dress. Oh, and alterations are included when you buy. Your dress will fit perfectly every time. Heidi also alters outside clothing at very reasonable prices. I really can’t say enough good things about this shop and about Heidi herself.

Heidi Story is one of my favorite local boutiques. Owner Heidi Story is in her namesake store most of the time and she’ll enthusiastically help you find something perfect in her well-​edited collection. Her friendly personality makes you even happier with your purchases.
I love the Susana Monaco collection (which I haven’t seen anywhere in town). These jersey dresses can be balled-​up and shoved in a suitcase and still look great right away. They also can be machine washed. Even better: because Story is a seamstress she offers free alterations on anything you buy. You can also bring in other clothes for alterations for a fee.
Along with the clothes, make sure to check out the selection of local jewelry. I love the tub of sale pieces from Richmond-​based Maslo Design. You’ll also find Sylvan Spirit designs along with items Story has picked up in New York.

I popped into Heidi Story completely on a whim while window shopping with my mom, sister and uncle, for I found the outside of the boutique to be just so freakin’ cute. [Might I mention that there was also a big «SALE» sign in the front window that lured me in. Yeah, it doesn’t take too many marketing tricks for me to feel incentivized to shop.]
To my surprise, I immediately recognized several dresses hanging on display by my latest favorite designer, Susana Monaco. When I asked the shop owner about it, she was like, «You’re a smart girl. Susana Monaco is an AMAZING designer and innately knows the shape of a woman’s body.» My sentiments exactly!
True story, I tried on the last coral-​colored strapless dress with the cutest pockets and immediately got the thumbs up from mom, sister and uncle — and the shop owner, Heidi Story herself! Which, might I add is so completely charismatic, social, charming and fun! She’s straight out of Brooklyn and her shop is just the cutest thing ever.
The next time I find myself out east visiting the extended family, I’ll definitely be swinging by Cary Street and stopping into this oh-​so-​cute boutique and will most definitely be snagging another Susana Monaco dress.
