I visited Hawk’s with my boyfriend. He purchased the fish & I got the shrimp. Huge disappointment. The shrimp is basically the same frozen shrimp you can get at any grocery store for $ 6.99 a box only here you pay $ 10 for frozen deep fried shrimp. Sucks when«restaurants» buy frozen/boxed food and mark up the price when all they do is drop it in grease. Would it kill them to peel and bread FRESH shrimp. Will not return. I can get the same food from the grocery store for half the price.

The cheeseburger was phenomenal. Would’ve been five stars but the lady at the front did not seem very friendly when I walked in but then completely changed her attitude when others walked in behind me. Sketch.

The food is great but also a little pricey but I gave Hawks BBQ a 1 star because they need to improve their customers service. They don’t acknowledge you once you enter there small restaurant, staff have on shirts which look like someone had on for weeks, there where 2 people at the front counter but one lite skin lady was sitting on her butt not helping the other person take orders or even helping anyone. I had someone call and place a order for pickup. Once I walked in no one said anything. The person behind(the employee) was helping someone and she took their order then wrote it down then passed it to the cook. Then she helped another lady who placed and order and she paid for her food. So I assumed she was done with the other customers after I approached the counter and said I’m just here to pick up an order she said I’m helping these other customers. She had already took there order but the proceed to assist the other customers asking them to pay. Afterward she was not ready to help me after waiting 6 minutes then she asked me what you order I said«6 pieces of fish and extras it was called in» then she had this look on he face and then said in a rude tone«What’s the name the order is under?» I told her the name but if she just asked me that in the first place she would not had to get rude. Hawks BBQ& their employees needs to be professional. Everyone should have on a work uniform with a T-Shirt that say Hawks BBQ or at least have the employees were matching the same shirt like Black, White or etc also train them on how to be professional and remove that tackle spray paint sign and get a logo and have the business name on it. The appearance of the inside of the place needs to be revamped. The entrance looks uncleaned, so I suppose the rest of the restaurant is uncleaned too. Clean up the restaurant so you can bring in more customers. I support your business but just if you revamp your business to bring in more customers because I was completely turned off after visiting the restaurant for the 2nd time. However, my mom always order from your restaurant but once I visited twice this establishment needs some improvement.

Delicious!!! Food was great, definitely recommend the trout specials, more than enough food we got a medium order and was able to split it, they have a large order and I can only imagine what that one looks like! The bread that comes with the fish will melt In your mouth and the trout are crispy and well seasoned! Great food and inexpensive!

Good food, great prices. Stopped in for a burger and hush puppies. The burger’s only come well done, but still had a nice flavor to it. It was a bit of a wait, and their space is small. Several other regulars had called in their orders and they were in and out very quickly. It seems that the fish is very popular, I will have to try it next time.

This was my first time at Hawks. I needed to eat and this was close to where I was going so I decided to give it a go. Don’t expect to sit and eat. There are only 2 tables which were taken up with patrons waiting for food(which personally I thought was rude). There were only two people working – one serving the counter and the other furiously working the line – which really isn’t enough. They were working very hard but it was a looong wait for«fast food.» Kudos to them for handling a lot of customers. The counter lady was a little rude at first but warmed up as the line slowed. I can understand the stress. I got the small lunch special – a BBQ sandwich with fries and a drink. Cost was reasonable. The side of fries was VERY generous. The BBQ was ok… not serious BBQ if you know what I mean. Decent flavor, on the sweet side. All the food was steaming hot which gets a big thumbs up! The cakes looked delicious but I didn’t try any. Maybe I’ll come in for a slice of cake. I think their fish is popular but I don’t like fish so I’ll leave that review to someone else. Overall, weighing the wait vs. food, you get an equal meal faster at another fast food restaurant. But I’d still say give Hawks a try if you’re in the neighborhood and see what you think. YAYNORTHSIDE!

Real good Southern style food! I’m in Richmond for the weekend & we just happened upon Hawk’s after we got lost going to another restaurant. Best mistake I’ve made in a while! I got the ribs plate with Mac & cheese, it was the bomb. Everything just melted in your mouth & tasted great. The only reason I gave it 4 stars is because they don’t have a lot of indoor seating but besides that, I’d definitely go back again.

I hate to give One star reviews, especially when a place has so few reviews. Unfortunately this place deserves it entirely. The place looks nice. The inside reminds me of a neighborhood diner. The service was kinda meh, They greeted me as I walked in which was nice but they offered no help whatsoever with ordering from their unorganized menu. About their menu. Im not sure how they call this place BBQ. As far as I could tell there is no smoker. They don’t sell Brisket. Theres only 2 actual BBQ items on the menu. Pork sandwich and Ribs, Everything else is fried fish(which is ok, but you shouldn’t declare yourself a BBQ restaurant) After being underwhelmed by the menu I decided to order a Pork Sandwich and a side of Fries. I never order fries, I only did this time because I feared anything else would be premade from the store. Right after I order the waitress disappears into the Firehouse Subs next door to cool off in their A/C. This didnt affect my rating, but it just seems unprofessional. So i Wait… wait… and wait. Other people come in to order. Order much more complex items than I did and get their food before me. Finally I hear the guys in the kitchen say order up. Now there is 2 people working the register, one is busy cutting a peice of cake for someone that was 2 orders behind me and told them to wait. So my order continues to on the expo window for another 5 minutes until the cook tells her to get the food out of the window. Finally I have my food. I opt to eat in my car because 2 of the 3 tables were taken up by employees. I open up the styrofoam box containing my sandwich. I cant even pick it up without it breaking in half. The bread is soggy, the coleslaw is obviously premade, and the pork looks like a manwich. I struggled through a few bites because I was starving before throwing it out. The fries were equally bad, but whatever, theyre fries. I really wanted to find another BBQ spot in town to like but unfortunately this was not it.
