What happened? Where are you? It has been six weeks, no sign on door, no nothing. You could at least put up something. You have no respect for customers. Don’t worry I won’t be back.

Came with a friend for the first time to try it out since the reviews seemed good. We came on a Saturday around 4pm. The place was empty, quiet, quaint, and decorated to its culture. It had a family feel to it but because it was so quiet it made it a bit awkward. We ordered the greek lemon chicken and shrimp santorini. The dish overall wasn’t bad but wasn’t delicious. The portion/size of the contents was a bit smaller than what I expected. The Greek lemon chicken came with 3 pieces of halved red potatoes, a leg quarter chicken, and greenbeans with a red tomato tasting sauce ;the sauce that the chicken was in was tasty. The spaghetti was big in portion as well as the shrimp however, it had a sour lemon taste to it which may have been rhe cheese topping or maybe not. The food overall wasn’t bad but I probably would not go again. Our waiter was kind and polite and the environment felt clean and light.

A friend recommended Greek 4U which just happens to be really close by me. After pulling up the online menu I called to order the Salad with Salmon for pickup. Fifteen minutes later I arrived at the very clean and quaint venue where I was greeted by a very engaging host who promptly brought out my order. I paid and left. At home I was a bit dismayed to find the portion of salmon was much smaller than I’d expect for $ 13.99. The salad was a good but rather plain mix — lettuce, tomatoes, cucumbers, particularly delicious) olives, and less-than-exciting Greek dressing. Even still, the salmon was cooked perfectly, it was filling and I was satisfied at the end of my meal! I’ll likely return and try something more traditional and one of their desserts. CONS: small portion for price. PROS: Easy west end location. Open til 10pm on weekends. Good, clean, real food.

Decent food at a decent price. Very generous portion sizes. Good tasting but nothing exciting. Much better dining choices close by.

My wife was a bit skeptical when I was taking her to the parking lot of Greek 4U. That old strip looks pretty neglected from the outside. The inside of the restaurant was clean. We went with a toddler and our waiter was very kind to all of us. He brought crayons for our kid and said the kitchen could make her something easy. The food we had was awesome! I used to live in Astoria, NY(where there are tons of Greek restaurants). We both really liked our dishes a lot. The service was great as well. We would definitely go back.

Greek food isn’t normally one of the types of cuisine I seek out, but one of the clubs I belong to was having an organizational meeting here, so I decided to check it out. I’m super glad I did. –Food: Let me preface by saying I know very little about Greek food, so if you’re looking for a review that touches on the authenticity of Greek cuisine, I’m afraid I won’t be able to help. But onto the food. I ordered the Calamari appetizer and a Gyro with greek style fries. I also tried some of the dolmades that a fellow diner ordered. First off, I really didn’t think I’d like dolmades as they are seasoned rice stuffed in grape leaves, and think only weird things when I think of grape leaves as a food. But I have to say, I’m a huge fan. I probably could have eaten a whole tray of those things honestly. There was a bit of a citrus herby deliciousness to the rice and they were just excellent. Even more excellent was the calamari appetizer, which was no joke probably my favorite calamari I’ve had anywhere. Sometimes I find the calamari too chewy or the breading too bland or salty, but Greek 4U’s is perfect. There are a couple different types of calamari(rings and what appears to be squid body) that come served, and both were super tender and well seasoned. The marinara sauce was good as well, but the calamari is something I’d suggest to anyone that likes calamari or might like calamari. It was that good. The gyro I had was also very good. The gyro place I used to frequent closed a few months ago(RIP5 Star Gyro), but I have to say that Greek 4U’s gyro was just as excellent as theirs were. The pita was fresh, ingredients colorful, meat tender, and tsaziki sauce refreshing. Everything about the gyro was tasty actually. I will say I didn’t like the greek style french fries because they were large potato wedge type fries, but they did offer«regular» cut ones, so I can’t criticize them for something I chose. –Cost: Some of the items are a little pricy. The gyro and fries were less than $ 10, but the calamari was over $ 10. If you get a small appetizer and a sandwich type item, you can probably get away spending less than $ 20, but if you get a larger thing or a specialty dish it could very easily surpass that. $ 20 isn’t that expensive of course for a legitimate restaurant and they don’t sell themself as a diner, so I think the price is right, just be mindful of the prices on the menu if this is an issue. –Atmosphere: The inside of the restaurant gives the huge feeling of a family run restaurant, and I love it. The tables aren’t elegant, most things are pretty plain, but it just feels right. There are colorful walls and appealing photos of Greece on them. I didn’t meet them, but have been told the owners are from Greece. –Service: It might have been because the waiter knew the party I was with, but everyone we came in contact with was very pleasant and helpful. He explained some of the appetizers and food I knew nothing about and made some suggestions(dolmades, and it was a great suggestion!). –Overall: I don’t know what this place was like years ago. I don’t know what it was like a day ago, or what it will be in a month, but the experience I had the other week was amazing. The food was fantastic, the place has a nice feeling, and while lunch was a little pricy in comparison to some other lunch places, it was definitely worth it. I am sure I’ll be back.

When we got there, we got a friendly welcome from the owners. The atmosphere is relaxed and the style has a nice Greek theme. We ordered the«mezes» sampler(moussaka/pastisio/stuffed cabbage/grape leaves) and lamb Kabob. Everything was impressive, other than the lamb meat which was just average but comes with amazing grilled vegetables. Being from the mediterranean, I have pretty high standards for dolmades(stuffed grape leaves) and Moussaka, and I really thinks theirs is excellent. I will definitely go there again. It’s a bit pricy though with most entrees above $ 10.

Great food. Taking home jumbo shrimp Athenian and lentil soup. Greek4u has better food than Bertuccis and the prices are better. Great service too

Went for lunch and the restaurant was clean and we were immediately greeted by Jonathan who was not only our greeter but also our waiter. He was personable and attentive. We ordered the triopita as an appetizer. It was excellent, although slightly overpriced for receiving only 4 for $ 6.99. The small Greek salad was a healthy portion, and ok, it would have be nice if they used«real Greek feta» instead of the Athenos feta you get from Food Lion. For our entrees we ordered the pistichio and the pork souvlaki. The pistachio was ok, but the souvlaki was excellent! Overall I was lightly disappointed but I have high expecting for Greek food! It’s better than the Crazy Greek but not as good as Greek Cuisine. John Pappas

I understand it is under new ownership, which may explain why the food is just not quite as good as I remember on previous visits.

Verdict It’s like a homemade comfort food. But I like bold flavor, so I won’t go back for another visit. Overall experience Friendly service with large portion of homemade, comfort food. Food I ordered the sampler. The portion was large. It was a hardy meal with high carb. The meat sauce reminds me of pasta. The complimentary bread was not impressive, plain. Service The service is really friendly. Both waitresses seem to work really well together and support one another as needed. Settings It’s a casual, family style setting with picnic tables. Location & Parking It’s located in a plaza so parking is easy. Price Very good for the portion size.

We live right around the corner from this place and drive by it all the time. We finally decided to stop for dinner one Friday night. Ok greek food! Hole in the wall. Not your average chain restaurant. Family oriented. Friendly staff. Highly recommend the dolmades(stuffed grape leaves) and home made spanakopita(spinash & cheese in crispy layers of phyollo dough).

Visited Greek4U on Friday for lunch. Was very quiet but it might have been due to the July 4th holiday on Thursday. We were greeted kindly and sat quickly. The service was excellent throughout our meal. We started with Spanakopita. I LOVE Spanakopita but was slightly disappointed with these. The filling seemed oily and the feta chunks seemed too big so that sometimes I got a whole bite of spinach and sometimes a whole bite of feta. Just not my favorite. For my main meal, I had a bowl of the Avgolemono Soup. I was actually expecting more of a broth-y soup when I read the description. The creamy soup has nice chunks of chicken and rice in it and a very light lemon flavor. We also split a hummus plate. This came with pita, hummus, feta, some tzaziki and tomatoes. Lots of food on this plate and probably could have been my whole meal. The everything was good and it was nice to get pieces of all of the ingredients in one bit. I finished with a Galaktobouriko which I just call a «Galaxy Burrito» because it is out of this world. Super tasty pastry and sweet cream custard inside. YUM. I must try! Overall the experience was good. The Galaktobouriko and the service were the only things to really«Wow» me though.

#41 Came here for dinner on the way back from a day long turnaround trip of visitng family around VA. Went all the way south to VA Beach and on my way back to DC, visited family in Richmond and met with them here at Greek4U. It may not be very fair as I just had a salad and soup. But both were very good and my cousins seemed to enjoy their gyro and chicken kabob plate. I had a little bit of the rice pilaf and that was pretty delish as well! I’m hardly in this area and would probably want to check out more of the asian restaurants as I’ve heard many good things about it in the area but if I’m craving greek and am in the area, I would definitely find myself here again!

Whenever the Greek Festival rolls around, I hearken back to the good old days(barely ten years ago) when the crowds there were manageable, the parking was tolerable and the er, um, ah clientele was a tad bit more refined. Well, the past few years, we’ve tried, oh how we’ve tried to go to the festival but after waiting in incredibly long lines and hearing about shortages of food choices… even on day one… we have found ourselves saying… why? You go, of course, mostly for the food and drink… well I’ve found a place in the West End that will give you that authentic vibe without the hassle… YEAR ‘ROUND! It is Greek 4U, an unassuming Greek place at Pump and Patterson Avenues. Now, in the interest of full disclosure, I have this place on high«potential to close» alert. The adjacent businesses have pulled out, including a CVS and rug store, and not much is left of the old Patterson and Pump guard save Rare Old Times. So this would be one of those places I would URGE my West End peeps to try if only to give it a chance to thrive in this tough economy. Grape leaves, spanikopita, souvlaki, you name it, we got it, partly on the appetizer sampler and in entrees, and we were not disappointed. They also have a great wine selection, reasonably priced, and a side room that seats 30 with a large mural of Santorini, one of the most breathtaking places on Earth. I think the only drawback was the absence of a kid’s menu, although there is enough choice for even the most finicky eater. However, the pasta dish put in front of my son could have fed him for a week(and did). The salad ingredients were fresh, the sandwiches were stuffed with meat and perfectly seasoned. We are going to go back and try wines and desserts for sure, but for now, I am quite happy not having to wait until June to visit the Greek islands, because Greek 4U brings them back to me in a satisfying and reasonably-priced manner. FYI — Greek 4U is closed on Sundays…

Last summer when Greek 4U became a bigger Restaurant, I could not wait as I am a huge fan of Greek Food. I have friends who Open/Started a Greek Restaurant here in Richmond on W. Broad St. They have sold it, and moved back to Greece, however the Restaurant is still going. This is my 3rd trip to Greek 4 U. If I had written my review after my 2nd Experience, it would have been 3 stars; if that. The food was mediocre with little flavor. They served Ice Tea in glasses the size of tea cups, and I hated asking the waitress a dozen times for more tea. I even asked for a BIGGER glass and she said the owner didn’t want to spend the money on larger glasses. I think after waving down my waitress 3 times… she hid from me, and I did not see her until it was«Check» time. The 2nd time I came in, I had the same waitress and she disappeared entirely after bringing out the meal. And again, I had to TAKE my glass to the Wait Station for addition Tea. When I left, I said I would never return… and for many months, I refused to go back… HOWEVER, the other night I was wanting to find a place to eat as I was starving. Greek 4 U was close by and I said to myself… What the heck, I can deal with bad food and service one more time at this place. So upon entering, I went to the same table as before in the hopes the lousy waitress I had before, had left. Well, to my much surprise a waitress came over and introduced herself to me and her name was Lorraine. She asked what would I like to drink and the first thing I said… Ice Tea in a large glass Please! When she came over, I was surprise to see a «Large Glass» and I asked her when did this happen as I told her about my past bad restaurant experience in this place. She said, it was under NEW management as of last October. So, now I was really intrigued. She also brought me over some«Homemade» fresh Whole Wheat bread which is made daily at the Restaurant. I am a BIG bread fan, and I was impressed in the fresh taste as I could have made a meal out of this bread… it was that good! So, I decided to order the Lemon Chicken with Lemon Potatoes. While waiting I ordered the Small Greek Salad. It came out and looked like a Large Greek Salad which I have ordered in other Greek/Italian Restaurants. The vegetables were fresh and had a nice crisp taste. Oh, she asked if I wanted Anchovies and I told her to hold the fish. lol… While waiting on my dinner, she came by twice to put more tea in my glass… Man, I was impressed. I usually deduct or give more in my TIP on how my Tea Glass is treated… this is Fact! When the Dinner came out, I was looking at a Chicken breast which I thought was part of «Mae West». It was Huge! When I cut into the Chicken I could not believe in how tender it was and it was not dry at all. The juices of the Chicken was flowing out of the meat. It was perfectly cooked and moist with flavor of a Lemon and olive oil taste. The new potatoes they had was also covered in the Lemon Sauce and I felt like I was eating 5PLUS star meal… It was one of the BEST dinners I have had in a VERY long time. Upon finishing my meal, the waitress knew how to work for her TIP! She brought me over several deserts for me to try. She explained how they have a Pastry Chef who makes all the Pastries daily. Well, I took a bite of each as I was so darn full from the Chicken and extra bread… I hardly had room for the deserts. I felt each of the deserts had just come out of the oven and the flavor was OUT of this World. I could not eat them all, so Lorraine boxed it up for me. So, when I paid my bill, I left a 45% tip for her as I felt like I was the Number 1 Customer in the Restaurant. It was one of the BEST Restaurant experience I have had in a VERY long time. So, make sure you ask for Lorraine. I am sure the others are wonderful and are just as good… but Lorraine knows how to WOW you! If I could give them a 5PLUS rating on Greek 4U, I would. I am looking forward to a return visit as their food in very reasonable priced for what you get and that is a LOT. I cannot say enough good things, and I have a feeling Greek 4 U will become a TOP Restaurant here in the Westend of Richmond. I hope I see you there as I plan to go back VERY soon. Take a look at some of the photos I took, and I am sure you will agree. Remember, we eat with our eyes!
