My kids and I love to spend our afternoons here at this great local library! A wonderful place to find a nice comfortable seat and curl up with a favorite book or magazine this place holds many memories for my kids as they grew up! I am so fortunate to live in this community that provides such a beautiful place to spend a quiet afternoon reading or just enjoying all the great programs they seem to have all the time! They just recently went through some remodeling and the place is really nice and cozy now! Many places to sit with comfortable desks and chairs throughout! Their periodical section is a favorite. I love catching up on all my favorite magazines in this place! One of the best libraries in the area!

Fitzgerald’s Great Gatsby! This library, year after long year, remains the undefeated BESTLIBRARY I HAVEEVERGAZEDUPONWITHMYPEEPERS. I have been coming to George Memorial since I could put one foot ahead of the other. As a rebellious youth, I used to trespass on the golf course by way of bicycle to transport myself to this mecca of information. I attended the old Shakespeare plays in the summer. This library shaped my childhood. One summer I checked out over 75DVDS and I give GML full credit for establishing my high-caliber knowledge of film history. Anyway. This place has a a great For Sale section, and it’s so reasonably priced that I never fail to stop by and see what they have when I’m home from Austin. Right now they have decades worth of collectable National Geographics for sale. Books are always well-organized, and there is a «New Release» section as well as a place where you can pick up patron holds. This establishment successfully facilitates easy access to anything you could want book or media-wise. I’ve even suggested several titles to GML that they did not carry, and do you know what? They heeded my request and ordered those titles. If George Memorial Library was a person, she would be my best friend that I’d confide in and ask to go on trips with me and stuff.

I call this library the Cadillac of libraries. Why? because it’s gorgeous, luxurious and spacious. Well okay, maybe not so much luxurious but it is very quiet and has a huge window overlooking a golf course. What I love about this place is their study rooms(accomodates 2−10+) you can check out/rent for free. The downside? They just closed their study rooms for renovations starting May 1, 2013 and won’t be complete until after Jan 2014. Darn. I do love that the children’s area is separate and you won’t hear kids running and screaming like it’s Chuck-E-Cheeses or even like they do when you try to study at your intermittently quiet and freezing Starbucks. I can’t wait until the renovations here are complete. It’s a little far to drive from Katy, but I go anywhere so long as I can get some solid studying in, ‘ya feel me?

Definitely the best library I’ve been to. Granted, I spent a lot of time here as a kid since it was the closest library, and I lucked out as a bookworm! HUGE building, great selection of books, peaceful atmosphere… everything that a wonderful library should be. Haven’t been here in a loooong time since I don’t live in the area anymore, but I’m not sure if any other library will compare. It helped that the George family had tons of money and happened to love books. :)

This was the first library I ever visited as a young boy, so naturally I now have an unbelieveably high standard for community libraries. Incredibly fortunate that this location was in my backyard to say the least. The building itself is gorgeous and quite spacious. Two stories above ground and another below, with an amphitheater outside. This has been my go-to place to do research over the years, when I’ve been in the area, due to the extensive microfilm/fiche resources as well as the geneaology department. There are libraries in major cities that I’ve been to that can’t even boast the amenities that this location has. The people also make the difference here. Consistently firendly and helpful, and there are a few individuals who have been here for a decade or more. They definitely know how to assist you and are eager to do so. If you’re ever in the area and need a book to read or want to get your research started with some of the best materials and resources available, this is your place.

Nice quiet and clean library with super friendly staff make this my brand new study cave(that won’t get me fat on mochas and muffins) out in Richmond, TX. This 2-story Fort Bend Co. library is a welcoming and spacious one that soon will be adding an electronic/online system(they say around mid-September) that will make reserving and finding what you need easy. They appear to have a good selection from what I’ve perused and the big selling point to me: free wifi and great study spaces, even private study rooms upstairs. Also, the hours– open til 9pm most days!
