My friend and I were visiting her parents and they insisted on taking us to Dots. I’m so glad they did because it was absolutely delicious! I got a cajun burger with bleu cheese and jalapenos and it was one of the best burgers I’ve ever had. They said that they’ve been there many times and have never had anything they didn’t like. Everything was extremely reasonably priced and the staff was very friendly. I wish it was closer to where I live so I could go there more often!

came here for sunday brunch, was very busy but was seating promptly. menu is eclectic and offers more than enough options. had the chorizo omelet as well as the chunky monkey pancakes. chorizo omelet was very unique and tasty, couldn’t quite place it but it had a very distinct flavor. pancakes were delicious as well, wasn’t reliant on the chocolate, whip cream or banana for it’s flavor if you’re in the mood for brunch and have a few minutes to wait for a table, you wont be disappointed by Dots Back Inn

Went for brunch on a race weekend, and it didn’t disappoint. Massive portions, delicious grits — bacon was cooked to perfection. Highly recommend for brunch, we will definitely return.

Dots Back Inn doesn’t look like much, but trust me, you need to try it. I went on a Sunday for brunch to find a line out the door. Although the small restaurant was packed, the service was friendly, accommodating, and fast. I ordered the biscuits and gravy with a side of grits — delicious, I would order it again. The inside of Dots is decorated with old photos and news paper clippings so they were neat to look at. I would definitely recommend Dots and hope to visit again sometime.

Nice local family owned type place/flash back in time diner. We went for brunch and got breakfast. I really enjoyed the food here, just simple home cooking with a smile. I had eggs Benedict which was great. I love places like this, wish there were more of them. This place gets real busy, I can see why.

Perhaps we went to this place at the wrong time? I ordered the rueben… it was flat out terrible. Burnt on the outside and cold on the inside. I could barely see/taste the Swiss cheese and it was heavy on some kind of marinated olive stuff… that’s all I could taste. The ‘fries’ were big cuts of fried potato, more of a chip type instead of the slender cut. I also ordered a kids pancake platter and was surprised that is was only 3 silver dollar sized pancakes. I felt for $ 3.50, the portion should have been a bit larger. My friend ordered an omelet with tons of veggies… she seemed to enjoy it. I think I just ordered the wrong thing. Service was good and the staff/other patrons were really friendly.

This place is always consistent. My grandmother would be in here at least twice a week to drink a few years back. On occasion, I’d come up and keep an eye on her. Never disappointed with the famous amos or the chicken Smithfield. Brunch is delicious too. Up in Maryland now, but always come in here if I’m in the area because I know, I’ll be happy. Jimmy, the owner is the man…

Solid brunch spot if you’re in RVA. While there might be a wait it is totally worth it; plus you can order some Bloody Mary to sip on while you wait. I love their pancakes! so that’s my go to. Lastly, I generally don’t dine for lunch since I’ve found it to be hit or miss depending on the day but weekend brunch is great. It is also family friendly which is a plus and the staff is always attentive.

Went during the dinner rush one night before Christmas. Had to wait for a table but no biggie! The atmosphere and food were amazing. Can’t wait to go back!

I wish I could give 3.5 stars. We do like Dots. It’s a good local hole in the wall. Food is always good. It’s a small, busy, loud restaurant though. I’m giving it 3 stars for the following: We’ve had mixed service, either really good or really overwhelmed servers. The hostess can be testy too. We’ve walked out before because the hostess got an attitude with us. And it seems as if you aren’t a local to the northside, you won’t get the same amount of attention.

Didn’t know it was a Triple-D joint until posting this review. I can see why Guy likes it — a cozy little neighborhood joint, were all the food is tasty. We were a party of three for lunch: the two different burgers were wonderfully cooked with spicy potato salad on the side; the salad was equally well received. Service was prompt and friendly. Though it was packed for lunch, we’d only had to wait about 5 minutes. Lots of locals, including the Fire Department, which is a sign of good food. It’s in a small commercial block in the middle of a residential neighborhood. There’s plenty of parking. That’s the really good news. On the flip side, the music is a bit loud, so conversation can be strained inside. It’s quieter outside(enclosed in winter.) Might have been 4 stars, but the place isn’t the cleanest we’ve seen.

This is a hard one to review for me so I’m certainly not going to slam the place. I just had a horrible Dining experience. I had the fried chicken and there was something wrong with it. I couldn’t eat it. The waitress apologized and asked if I wanted anything else of menu but I couldn’t stomach anything after that. But everyone else seems fond of the place so don’t take my review as a complete picture of the what to expect. I have only been twice. The chicken time and the next time I didn’t eat(I don’t think I can here again). But things happen and I’ve never had anyone else complain about the food. I would just maybe hesitate in ever recommending for a meal… But for a neighborhood type bar /hang out spot… it has that Great vibe going. Don’t shy away worried about the food from my review… but I wouldn’t plan an important meal here.

Awesome burgers, an impressive selection of tasty menu entrees, and a down-home ambience as far away from the TGIFication of America as you can get. Expect to wait for a table regardless of when you arrive. But it’s worth the drive and wait.

My husband and I went here for a nice lunch together. It was a beautiful day so we sat outside. The servers were great. I really appreciate that we were sitting outside and they didn’t forget about us like at other places. Drink and prices were very reasonable(we were on vacation). I had bottles of cider that were around 2.30 a bottle. The food was good. The fries are actually potato chunks! As a potato and cider lover, I was very happy here. I just wish we could have gotten there a bit later to try the specials.

I love this place. I really really do. I may have skimmed the last star off because Guy Fieri’s face is on the wall from when he did Diners, Drive Ins and Dives… but wow! Good, home cooked, delicious food. I typically stick with the tuna melt which is served on an English muffin… perfection Elvis pie is also a great choice. It’s small, but it’s totally worth any wait you may experience. Breakfast, brunch, lunch, dinner, happy hour… the dots experience will not disappoint.

Featured on Diners, Driveins and Dives, we HAD to stop in to check it out. Homey, local and sitting on a quiet street, it was good to have a meal here. Good all around; but what gave it a 4 star was the Elvis cake that had banana custard, Oreos, peanut butter drizzled with Carmel. I had jambalaya, which was homemade, but needed some seasoning for my tastes. A 3.5. Daughter had pulled pork and rated it a 4.0. Wife had hamburger and gave it s 4.0. Great ambience and local flavor makes Dots a place to visit. I’d definitely check out more menu options in the future.

Easy, tasty breakfast. It’s the hipsters breakfast spot on Bellevue. I dig the ease, flavor and polite staff. Service is quick and affordable. I will do it again :)

Tried this little place out for lunch today. Glad we found it! Got in just in time to get the last booth. And people were steady coming in. Usually a good sign of a great place to eat. And it didn’t disappoint! I had a hard time making up my mind on what to choose from the menu, but I finally settled on the Rajun Cajun Burger. This was a nice hand-patted grilled burger with Cajun spices, Swiss cheese and crispy bacon. I added some BBQ sauce. Excellent! My wife got the 5 Star Nachos. We loved those, too! Loaded with two kinds of cheese, black beans, black olives, diced tomatoes, salsa, jalapenos, sour cream and nice dark green shredded lettuce. Finally, my daughter got Blackberry Compote Texas Toast French Toast with a side of scrambled eggs. The best French Toast I’ve tasted in a while. Service was good considering how busy they were and the staff was friendly enough. Definitely adding this place to our list of favorites and I’m anxious to go back. I wanna try the Smithfield eggs Benedict! Really worth the visit!

BRUNCHREVIEW This is difficult because I had high expectations based on all of the other reviews. I loved their bloody mary! Unfortunately, I ordered the Smithfield benedict and just wasn’t impressed. It was good but not FABULOUS or different and that’s what I was expecting. My friends ordered the peach french toast and biscuits and gravy which they both raved about. I’m hoping to go back for dinner and increase my stars. This place is definitely described as a dive but in a good way :) The prices were good and service was good too.
