Good HK style food. I’ve been to quite a few of HK’s Michelin starred wonton joints and it’s HARD to find good wontons. Trust me. This place has pretty good wontons… one of the better ones I’ve had in the bay in a looong time. The wontons are big and come with good flavor. The wrapping isn’t too thick or sticky with a good amount of meat to shrimp ratio. Noodles had a slight bounce to them and the broth was ok… nothing a little hot sauce couldn’t fix. Also ordered the Chinese doughnut wrapped in rice noodle(one of my faves). Sooo good. Service is typical of an Asian joint. make sure you flag them down for service.

I can get over horrible service, impatient cashiers and the usual screw up of an order but the cashier not taking my money without using the marker or asking assistance cause you think something is wrong is insulting. I don’t like writing bad reviews cause I know the restaurant business is rough, I just don’t understand why these people treat me like poo every time I go in there. Needless to say they won’t see another dime from me.

Better than average Chinese restaurant! They have duck, shanghainese dumplings, dim sum, and all kinds of dishes you don’t get at a typical chinese restaurant. Food is good!

My family and I come here quite frequently for late lunch and late night dinner. Great place for meals at awkward hours since they’re open till very late and don’t have a resting period between lunch and dinner. Quick, affordable, and delicious; what more can you ask for? The atmosphere and décor are very casual, so if you’re looking for a more fancy Chinese restaurant, Daimo may not be the most suitable place. We’ve been coming here for years and the quality of the service and food have been quite consistent as of lately. They also serve complimentary red bean sweet soup after your meal, but come early before they run out! Some of our regular and favorite dishes: Stir-fried green beans(not sure what the exact English name is), roasted duck with plum sauce, beef chow fun, pork & mixed innards porridge(dont let the name scare you haha), etc.

Do you want to eat some good Chinese food??? Go where Chinese people go to eat Chinese food. 99% of the people here on a busy Saturday night were Asian — and that’s not a bad thing. If you want to eat at a restaurant where your waitress walks up to your table to take your order and asks«what do you want?» Then this is the place for you! Quality of service, poor etiquette and bad attitude of the servers and wait staff will have a negative effect on your overall experience. Food was really good though. Huge portions and had plenty left over to take home. But a very noisy and hectic environment to have dinner. And not all that clean either.

Daimo is a very matter-of-fact Cantonese + seafood + BBQ + dimsum restaurant. It’s somewhat pricey for what it is due to their postioning as more of a banquet family style restaurant. I really like their vegetables with tofu and mushroom dish for $ 13.50. It was served wok hot, fresh, with just the right amount of oiliness. The xiao long bao(xlb) /shanghai dumplings had much to be desired. They were sorely over-steamed, so the skin was practically melting and any soup had long evaporated or soaked into the skin. Didn’t hit the spot at all for soup dumplings. The women’s bathrooms were quite horrific compared to the rest of the restaurant. The bottoms of all the doors looked burned or singed and parts of it were broken off. The floors and doors were all sticky too, making me lose much of any appetite I had started with. Ugh –_–

Been coming to Daimo for years and it used to be one of my favorites. Especially the shrimp won ton mein. On the plus side, their portions are quite large. On the downside, their prices have gone up considerably to the point where they’re now off my go-to list. The quality of food and big portions aren’t enough to make up for the higher prices. I had my favorite shrimp won ton mein. 4 won ton, noodles for $ 9. Fried rice and chow fun for $ 12-$ 13. No thanks. Can get the same food cheaper elsewhere. Buh-bye Daimo.

My family and I(party of 6) went to this restaurant on Sunday and I was unsatisfied with my experience. This was the first restaurant I’ve ever been to where I had a piece of garbage in my food! The place looked greasy and dirty and staff were unfriendly. The wait for three out of four of our dishes wasn’t too long but the chow fun I waited for, took forever and was the one with a wrapper in it. The food was salty and greasy as well and I’ve definitely had better Chinese food. When we notified the lady giving us our check about the piece of garbage in our food, her response was«It probably just dropped in there while they cut the package». No apology whatsoever as if it was rude of us to notify her. Completely unacceptable, one of us could’ve accidentally eaten it! Will definitely not return, I feel ripped off and I feel bad for anyone that comes here.

A better-than-average Chinese restaurant, located in a stand-alone building next to the Pacific East complex. A big, airy room with an open kitchen. We were seated immediately on a weekday lunchtime visit, though only one menu was offered to our party of two. Chopsticks are the default utensil option – always a good sign in a Chinese restaurant. Lunch specials are in the $ 9.80-$ 10.80 range, a bit more than in several other restaurants in the area. We tried the Mongolian beef(very spicy, with ten whole red peppers; one of the tastiest renditions of this dish I have ever had), and a rather less characterful eggplant and spare ribs; bite-sized rib bits, mostly on the bone. Big, somewhat mushy eggplant strips. Accompanied by a good, spicy hot and sour soup. One thing we missed from a previous visit(a couple of years ago) was several ostrich dishes. Very limited beer and wine menu.

This food is bland, the service is unacceptable. I ordered kung pao chicken but it had no flavor so I ordered sweet & sour chicken. There was no white meat in it. I don’t know what they coated it had a consistency of skin. I didn’t pay for my food and I won’t be returning.

My Husband loves eating here, especially if we had a late flight back to SFO and in need of some late night food. Me eh not so much. Food here is ok, nothing special. Extremely greasy and large portions is what you can expect here. Service sucks, wasn’t served water right off the bad.(But for some reason I think i would avoid the water here. seems rather dirty) And don’t let me start with the bathrooms. think rest stop bathrooms out in the boonies.

This is a family style restaurant so the dishes are enormous! Plates here can serve up to 5 – 10 people! Went here to eat dinner for a pit stop plus there’s too much traffic on the freeway around 6PM on the bridge. My family and I(total of 4 people) got seated immediately near the kitchen and ordered food. 5 minutes after we ordered, we realized we ordered too much but the waitress said it’s too late to cancel. Wonton noodle soup: broth is good! Noodles are very soft and chewy. I also thought the wontons are big pieces as well as lots of shrimp and pork bits inside. Good to eat on a very cold day. BBQ duck plate with rice and veggies: I tried one piece and it’s hard to chew off the meat and it’s pretty fat. I didn’t like it. The portion is huge though. Fu kin fried rice: my reaction when it’s set on the table — DANG! WHOA! THAT’S A LOT. Definitely shareable. I felt it’s very saucy but overall I loved it and it’s my favorite entrée. The taste is unbelievable and I thought this plate was very mouth watering. I couldn’t get enough of it. Beef w/black pepper sauce: also another big plate and shareable. Beef and noodles were easy to chew and slurp. Lots of sauce on it, but I thought the food was still bland. This entrée was just ok. I just loved how big it is. Overall: This restaurant is surprisingly good and I would try other appetizers and entrees next time.

Great for late night dinner. We got wonton ho fun and wonton mein and black pepper chicken chow fun. The black pepper chicken chow fun was tasty and had a good sauce to noodle ratio. We always order the wonton noodle soup when we come here. The wontons are great! It was filled with plenty of shrimp and were larger in size compared to most places. The mein wasn’t too soft and just perfect. The roasted duck was hella salty and fatty. Would not recommend.

An old favorite. Authentic Cantonese food. I like the clay pot chicken with tofu and salted fish. I ordered plain chow fun panfried with scallions and ginger. It was a big hit at our table. Eggplant in garlic was really good. Prices went up. Not a cheap place. Stay away from the non-Cantonese dishes. Open until 3AM.

I’ve been coming to Daimo for a few years now and the food has never disappointed me. I really like how they have a variety of Chinese food, dim sum, and you could always order duck or BBQ pork that they have on the side which is always super good! My favorite is the BBQ pork rice plate and the wonton soup. I don’t like my wonton to have like random stuff wrapped inside but they make it really good here. It’s filled with meat and shrimp and each won ton is pretty big as well. The beef with Chinese broccoli should be a must have also. I’m not super into Chinese food because if it’s not homemade it just rates the same to me but they definitely make it different here. v

This place is great… IF: You are drunk, like a skunk, and it’s 1:30 am. You just want some wontons or congee You want to order stuff to go, and they are quick with the to go orders. You love to be punish by spotty service. You enjoy dirty dirty restrooms. Besides that, this place is actually pretty cool for the traditional Hong Kong breakfast experience. The food is greasy, it’s tasty and edible. It’s basically the stuff I grew up on. You can’t go wrong with any of the congee, the wonton noodle soup, the shrimp dumplings, or just the plain old BBQ pork over steam rice. I wouldn’t really have a date night here, or anything other than the causal dining experience, but if you are not looking for that, good place to go.

Review #020 — 2016 I’ve been coming to Daimo for many years. It’s very big and conveniently located off of 80, with plenty of parking. I remember when it first opened way back in the days, it was one of those restaurants that I would be afraid to walk into because it seemed too nice and over priced for my affordability. Our first meal here was great. We ordered banquet style Chinese food, all seafood and top of the top menu items. Then slowly as the years passed by, it kind of turned into a late night hang out spot for most of the drunk kids that stopped by after club. My most recent visit was not very memorable at all. The food was just subpar. Of course, being that we showed up after 1AM, we didn’t expect great service nor top notch food, yet we still wanted good food and some type of service. Everything we ordered was plain and just ok. Nothing stood out and made us want to come back. The restaurant looked run down and uninviting. There were drunk people standing outside just being loud and obnoxious. Guess we won’t be coming back here unless we’re desperate for late night Chinese.

Daimo isn’t bad if you don’t wanna drive to Oakland Chinatown for Asian food. I used to come here a lot back when I lived in Richmond. Daimo is your standard Asian restaurant with dim sum in the mornings and yes it gets super crowded as with any other restaurant near a Ranch 99 plaza. For the most part, what I order is pretty typical. Today was cold so I opted for a liver porridge which is usually my go-to. I also ordered some dim sum and my mom ordered Japanese ramen? Haha I thought it was strange considering we were in a Chinese restaurant but the broth wasn’t too bad. Actually better than a few ramen places I’ve been to. Prices are average and they take care which is a relief. I can say that I prefer the Saigon City restaurant just a few doors down.

Did another midnite snacking with the gals… it was very good… service was quick… they don’t slack around… We ordered wontons… big wontons with shrimp, cleaned deveined very well… Pigs feet, so tender… Fried salt n pepper tofu, ask for hoisin sauce to go with it, so crunchy and delish… Noodles with veggies, clean and simple, meant no meat added… Beef brisket with daikon, very very good… worth it, just the same as in the City’s famous RG Lounge…

Maybe it’s my childhood upbringing in Asian central, but there’s something oddly homey about the sound of vaguely angry Chinese/Vietnamese in the background and the fragrant smells of oily, msg-laced dishes steaming that really calms me on a subconscious level. I’m not saying that Daimo is heavy handed in their use of msg or that their food is too oily, but you get the picture. I’ve have been here twice so far, both times in need of a serious pick-me-up from bad days and this place has never failed to cheer me up. The garlic sauteed string bean here is always a winner, crisp and oh-so-deliciously salty. Huge plate of it too! My friend and I have never been able to finish this one off alone; there’s always some for lunch the next day. Tried the Malaysian chow fun once and it was oddly curry scented, but not very strongly curry flavored. Still delicious, especially as it comes with a variety of meats and shrimp. The rice porridge game here is strong too– try it with the fish and chinese donut on the side. Soooo goood. That’s definitely my kind of comfort food. Haven’t had the chance to try the late night dimsum here, but the fact that they even offer it during non-brunchy times is a huge plus in my book. I will definitely be back to try that soon.
