After our favorite ceviche closed down a few years ago we were lacking a good ceviche place. Thanks to the Unilocal reviews we decided to give Armando’s a try and it was awesome!!! Great portion size and deliciously fresh! Ceviche comes with sweet potato and and a lettuce leaf. I miss the corn and potato offered at other restaurants but acceptable as long as the ceviche is yummy! Chicken was delicious but the sweet plantains were not fully ripe. The staff was helpful and accommodating. This is now our new ceviche de pescado spot! Give it a try!

We have been in this place several times and we always come back ! Chicken is delicious ! But they have other alternatives equally good. Lomo saltado for meat lovers. Ceviche for seafood people. Good size, delicious flavor and price not bad . This is a good sample of Peruvian cuisine. Place is big enough to have 10 people or more and not feel asphyxiated. Love the juices. Green plantains fantastic always crispy. Way to go Armando’s

I order delivery from here, usually a whole chicken with fries. The chicken always comes burned and soooo dry, it’s really bad, and the fries smell and looked burned, they smell like the oil hasn’t been changed it weeks, I specifically ask them to not send me reheated/burned chicken and burned fries and they still do it. I attached some pictures so u guys can see how bad the chicken arrives. I will never order from here again. And dont even get me started on how rude the workers are on this restaurant

Worst breakfast ever today. The waitress couldn’t wven bring me a hot tea, it was room temperature. The Peruvian combo was tasteless, the sweet potato was burnt, the chicharron had no salt. On the whole it wasn’t worth a penny coming here. The wait for the food was so long i thought they were killing the poh back there.

I went here for my birthday this year and the restaurant itself is clean and easy to find near 111 st stop of the J train. The food itself wasn’t bad I had steak and tried some chicken but what I’ve noticed is every restaurant has their own spin on the same dish. I’ve had better in other places but what really needs improvement is their service. The waiters need lesson in customer service it almost looks like as if some of them don’t want to be there. They didn’t even pour us water like some restaurants will do for you while you’re going through the menu

We live in the area and we have been here several times. The service is always painfully slow, and it doesn’t seem to matter how many people are in the restaurant. They automatically add 18% tip, no matter the size of your party. They frequently forget parts of your order unless you remind them. The last time we went the kids waited 20 minutes for their drinks and the final part of our order never arrived, and we asked for it to be removed from the bill. They refused, and then brought it out in a to-go bag. They initially refused to make any compensation for their mistake but did finally relent to removing the 18% tip, but only after an arduous argument. Even so, not even the manager came to speak to us. They even initially took back the food they had brought in the to go bag! The waitress was amazingly rude to us, even raising her voice. We are never returning to this restaurant.

Most of their food is salty(chicken, beans, fish,.). That’s why I give a 3 stars. However, they do have the best maduros(sweet plantains) and tostones(plantains) in this neighborhood. They are not too soggy not too salty.

Terrible food, terrible service. Don’t even waste your time coming to this dump. I’m American and I could cook better Peruvian food. They add 18% gratuity for a party of 3. Since when do you include gratuity on a party of less than 7 or 8? What a joke of a restaurant.

The moved now and are located on crossbay blvd. I came in for lunch the service was horrible the food was no better! I was left there with my food served but no fork or knife. I had to get up and ask for one because we were ignored. The place was not even crowd. Not to mention the order was not what I ask for even the bill we had to ask someone else for it!!! No one came to see if we needed anything! Horrible never go back again and I don’t recommend it!!!

This is for the new location on crossbay blvd. This place was terrible! The chicken was soggy soup was cold service was terrible rice was mushy and beans were flavorless. I LOVE Peruvian food HATED this. If that place makes it a year I’ll be shocked it’s really not good and the service was even worse after serving people that came in after us first, charging me for something I sent back cause it was ice cold, waitress sucked her teeth at me cause I asked for more water. God forbid you be thirsty because your waiting 25 minutes for a check in a near empty place. They put an auto tip on for 2 adults and 3 very small children(3,4&5) which I found to be crazy! And you can’t even complain cause you get a shoulder shrug.

Service needs A LOT of improvement. Our waitress gave us the menu, took our order and gave the bill… never a single check up to see if everything was to our likings, in case we needed more drinks, additional orders… NOTHING. Customer service is the key to a restaurant and when other factors lack in presence, this could be a savior. Unfortunately this wasn’t the case for Armando’s Pollo Rico. Ambiance, wasn’t your traditional Peruvian setting, but wasn’t soar to the eye either. I would say that the Mother’s Day signs could be taken down(its May 25th already). Maybe traditional Peruvian shots, sceneries and or music would have been nice to see on the big screen TVs opposed to Channel 7 news. We sat next to a table in where they were preparring the«green sauce», left out in the open since we got there(could be before we got there also) until we left(total dining time was 1hour and half). Someone next to the table that had the«green sauce» exposed, counting money and prepping for what I can imagine a bank deposit. Not ideal to have all of this exposed to the customers. I ordered Arroz con Mariscos, never had I had a bad experience with this order, needless to say I spoke too soon. SALTY is too soft of a word to explain the taste of this dish. Seafood is salty as is, the seasoning needs to be altered for an ideal taste. Tallarin con Mariscos, basically spagettis DRENCHED in soy sauce. No savory taste and again, SALTY is an understatement. Soy sauce + seafood = measure the quantity for savory taste, otherwise prepare for a disaster Lomo Saltado, was the most edible plate we ordered. Taste was not that bad, meat was tender. Highly doubt I will ever return or recommend this place to anyone, even for a simple traditional rotisserie chicken.

The food was so bad that we end up eating the Chinese leftover from the day before. definitely they are not Peruvian.

Went to eat here today and waited first to be seated(20min) then, 15(mim) for a drink and menu. We where then told by the waitress that if we ordered food don’t expect it out for about an hour. Guess what? I got up and left. Never again!

This is a wonderful place to eat and enjoy with your love ones. The stuff is kind and always smile, very friendly and small conversation asking about your week, your family or even your boyfriend: D I feel like being around nice people and good friends. The food is exquisite. Their Ceviche and Roasted Chicken are a must to try :) Tamales are my personal favorite although I do miss their Leche Azada :(I must say this place is full of friendly positive energy :)My Boyfriend has made his favorite restaurant as he enjoys the whole Peruvian Food Experience. To me brings me back to my childhood memories back in Peru :) Feels like home made food: D Prices are pretty fair and talk about the food presentation! it is appealing to the eyes and make you want to eat!!! :D The music varies and not repetitive or boring and the TV always have something interesting to watch Overall Awesome Food and Great Staff :)

Been here a couple of times for some Peruvian food and this place is one of the best around the area. Favorite plate is the Jalea and its a must try if you haven’t done so yet.

Love this place. First restaurant the we ordered from when we moved to Richmond Hill, and we order at least once a month! We always do pickup/delivery, we’ve never actually gone and sat inside. We usually order the combo #2. A whole chicken, rice, beans, hot dog & french fries, green plantains, and an avocado salad. So much food that it’s enough for dinner one day and the next. Some times we replace the green plantains for sweet, and we’ve almost never had a problem with it. We have recently tried different appetizers each time — the cow heart was really good, and the Papa A La Huancaina and fried yucas were tasty too. One or two times they have messed up/forgotten parts of our order when they’ve delivered it, but always have fixed it no problem. Food is delicious, and we’ll be ordering from here until we move!
