If you have heard the old hymn verse, «They will know we are Christians by our love», then this is the place to see it put into action from the get go. The people here are definitely holding that as their main draw and doing it well. This place is a traditional Baptist church, basically a little country church in the suburbs of Richardson. I would ascribe the line from the Osmond Show: «a little bit of country, a little bit of rock n roll» as a fitting description of the musical portion of the services. You can go from one of the members singing a good ol’ country hymn, such as «Build Me A Cabin in the Corner of Gloryland» to hearing«Iron Man» being the warm-up song for the praise band. The pastor is a quirky guy that is down home and Biblical, spicing up his sermons with frequent 80’s references, bad jokes and illustrations based anywhere from his army days to hockey, particularly of the Dallas Stars. To his members, he is known affectionately as either Preacher, Brother Tom, Tommy or Super Pastor Tom(cape included). His action figure can be found at participating stores. There is both an English-speaking and Spanish-speaking congregation on site. They meet separately but they are known to have bilingual services on occasion. If you wish to attend the English-speaking service, there are translating headphones available. If you are looking for a small congregation, where everybody knows your name, and they’re always glad you came, preaching and teaching with a strong Biblical basis focusing on Christ, and a place where you can serve, then this is a place you can call your church home. If you are looking for a place that is very formal, where nobody laughs in church, where you can attend anonymously, slipping out unseen before the end of service, or just warm a pew but not get involved, then this is not the place for you.
