Absolutely disgusting! Overcooked pasta, gooey«Alfredo» sauce was something out of a jar. If it was their recipe then they deserve zero stars. The Lasagna had nothing to it. overcooked lasagna noodles with a blob of cream cheese filling and a flavorless red sauce. Meatballs were two tiny misshapen things. I couldn’t even tell what they were by looking. Again, flavorless. And the server was slow and whiney. Very disappointed and will never go back. The only upside to the experience was the HOT watier with long hair who came by the table once in a while. Nice eye-candy.

I just moved to Richardson from the Lakewood area so I was very happy to see a new Scalini’s nearby. I recommended it to some friends and so my husband and I met them there for dinner last night. The place was stone cold silent. No music, no buzzing conversation… just silence. That is very strange if you ask me. We all felt a little weird. We sat at the bar for a while and had a couple of drinks. When we got our table it all just got stranger. Our waitress was sweet, but inexperienced. She took order for mussels as an appetizer, then about 20 minutes later came back to tell us that actually they don’t have any’. So then we ordered the calamari. I don’t like calamari so I can’t review it but my husband and friends seemed to like it. As main courses we ordered a variety of dishes and everyone was very pleased. Our main courses redeemed Scalini’s. I think our friend Mike was the most impressed with his dish and he had the chicken lasagna. I will go back because I do love their food, I’m just really really hoping the atmosphere improves. Strangely, the Lakewood location is so loud that I mostly used to order out from them. It may be that the Richardson location is so quiet that I do the same!

Great pizza delivered quickly. I ordered 5 large pies to feed 18 people lunch. It was just the right amount and everyone seemed happy. Would definitely recommend.

Sauce was tasty, service a bit slow. Decent place but not very memorable.

I have a few things to say here. First of all, I have always been a fan of the Lakewood location. When I found out they had a location in Richardson, which is close to my house, I got very excited. So, we went for lunch/carryout yesterday. Pluses: The customer service is decent The mozzarella sticks are delicious! You can tell the cheese is fresh The pizza is stellar. I usually add a ton of toppings and they have good, quality toppings to choose from Convenient location(right off Bush Turnpike and Jupiter) Easy parking Half price appetizers if you are purchasing any bar items Large selection of alcohols and decent sized bar Minuses: Although the pizza is amazing, the pastas and signature dishes tend to lack authenticity. I like REAL italian The place is in a new, cute shopping center and it seems like they should have more traffic coming in and out than what I saw. Maybe they need to market better or have more events to draw crowds in. If they don’t, I don’t see it lasting long in this area. Overall, i will definitely be going back for the pizza and mozzarella sticks

I can’t believe I haven’t Unilocaled this place yet. We eat here probably once or twice a month. Not huge fans of the spag sauce but we really like the pizza. They changed the way the make it, for the better. I do have a bit of an issue eating my pizza off of a plastic red tray you find in a cafeteria, but I put that aside because the pizza is tasty and stays nice and crispy. The service is consistent, we ike the side salad, but wish it was a tad bigger. What’s really nice is they deliver, and sometimes you just don’t feel like going out.

We went to this place because it was my old co-worker’s favorite place to go for lunch. It’s really close to the office, so it was really convenient, and we walked into a cute little place, very homey feeling, and full of people for lunch. I was excited to try the food. It felt very authentic Italian, and so never have been to Italy before, I didn’t know any better to assume pasta would be the best option. They had a lobster ravioli that looked really good, but most of the people who eat there a lot actually recommended the trout. Now, I was skeptical — VERY skeptical… Dallas isn’t really known for it’s seafood… and the seafood that I have tried have fallen a little bit short(what do you expect when I lived in San Diego and now live in the Bay Area??? high standards.). But regardless, I gave it a shot, and let me tell you. it was possibly the best trout I’ve ever had. I don’t regret getting it at all, even when the guy next to me ordered it and I sneaked a glance at his plate. Very tender fish, and the sauce was REALLY good… it was served over herbed rice and with a side of very prettily colored veggies. Next time I’ll really have to think about the lobster ravioli or ordering this beauty again. I will say though, portions are smaller than I expected. Perfect for me. but if you want a big meal, this is not the place. Quality over Quantity!

Overall, the food is good. The reason for two stars… I didn’t make it home with my left overs. We ordered a hamburger pizza and some how ended up with someones ham pizza. Also, I ordered a kids spaghetti with extra meat sauce and when we got home we noticed a very small portion of meat sauce. I called the venue to inform them of the mix up and ended up even more frustrated with no apology and a sarcastic attitude.

Dined on a Monday night which I assume is normally slow because they only had two people on the waitstaff. Unfortunately they were slammed with almost every table having a customer. This resulted in a long wait time for drinks and food. Our waitress apologized and continued to let us know this wasn’t a normal night. In regards to the food, overall I would say it was just okay. The garlic toast with cheese was really good. I also ordered a pizza. They offer a good variety of toppings to choose from. I went with pepperoni, Canadian bacon, garlic and sun dried tomatoes. It was good, but nothing that would make me go out of my way for a repeat visit. If I’m in the area, sure perhaps.

I had the lunch sized pizza with italian sausage crumbles and fresh mushrooms. Super thin and crispy crust. Just the way i love it! The staff were super friendly. I will definately be back!

While the pizza seems to be the draw, for my family we love the pastas, and we have yet to have a bad meal! The prices are reasonable, and while the service can sometimes leave a bit to be desired, the food has always been good. The pizza has a very thin, cracker-like crust. I loved it, however my boyfriend likes a little more dough to his pizza. Spaghetti with meat sauce and with meatballs was a good, basic dish. Not the best I’ve ever had, but good. My sister raved about the spicy chicken scallopini, my daughter loved the cheese ravioli, I am a big fan of the manicotti and the parents couldn’t get enough of the fish! What impressed me the most was that we came in with a huge group with no reservation and they were able to set us up in the«party room» and have drinks and food on the table in record time, which was great because we had tried to go to Twisted Root for dinner and there was no way to accommodate all of us with the counter service they offer. Our drinks never sat empty, our food was prompt and every special request(and there were many because of our plethora or picky kids) was nailed. I wish they had more to offer in the way of dessert, but the bar is stocked and the food is great.

I cant speak for the other food but if you are an Italian resturant shouldnt you have good pizza? We ordered italian sausage, peperoni and black olive. When it arrived at our table I litterally had to look for the toppings! The whole place seems tenative from the hostess to the waiters to the food. I dont think the owner/manager is into this location. there are much better«known» options in DFW. I recommend not stopping here.

Rarely would I ever dare to quibble with my friend and foodie compatriot Aimee z, especially with 500 amazing reviews under her belt but I have had nothing close to a five-star experience at Scalini’s. I wanted to love it. It is 2 minutes from the new house and in a wonderful little shopping center that houses the likes of Main Street Bistro, Silver Fox and the Rose Tattoo(obviously there will be reviews of those places to follow). There is nothing better than to have a great, reasonably priced Italian restaurant available at a moment’s notice(except maybe a kick-ass burger joint within walking distance, a dream I can only aspire to some day). So, after several visits the best I can unfortunately muster is that it is rarely crowded… but even that can be a problem at times. During our last visit, which occurred on Sunday evening, and only because the Rose Tattoo was closed, we entered a virtually vacant restaurant. We waited for someone to seat us but the staff(manager included) was too busy watching a group of friends out in the parking lot. When the server arrived, he was quite jovial, however. Three pasta dinners later, our group remained unimpressed. Scalini’s subtle touch with its sauces is much like Whitney Houston’s with her music: overbearing. I kid you not the lobster ravioli was so inundated with sauce that I was tempted to call State Farm and put in a flood claim… and I love sauce. We actually commented to the waiter about the situation and he replied, «I know. Customers say that all the time. I’ve told the kitchen but they don’t listed to me.» I wish that this was just a singular experience but sadly, it is not. I don’t want to say that I’ll never be back because that is more harsh that intended but with several worthy competitors in the same parking lot, the truth remains that I will certainly visit one of them instead.

I am bumping up my review for Scalini’s after they catered our lunch on Thursday at work. I emailed the manager a spreadsheet with every person’s name and what each person wanted. This is not an easy thing to do in my office since we have a no-fat-eating vegetarian, a person with an extreme sensitivity to sodium, I’m allergic to lettuce and the rest of the clan are just picky. They called 3 times to clarify and make sure everything was right and then they arrived right on time with our order. I started unpacking the food and noticed that each individual order had been labeled, all of the special requests and substitutions were perfect and everyone enjoyed what they ordered. Our office will order lunch for everyone about once a month or so, and my boss told me in our meeting to call them and thank them for a perfect showing and that we would be calling them again soon.

Ok so in my world, you don’t give a restaurant with decent or passible food 1 star, you reserve the 1 stars for if the food was inedible, did not digest with you, or the server spit in your food. As such to counter all these one stars, I’m going to say 5 stars, even though it truly probably deserves 4. I haven’t tried the pizza(their Especial item) but I“ve had salads(a slightly bitter caesar) and the meat loaf(more like a meat slice in its small portion) and everything was tasty and left me wanting more(though that might be for the small portions!).

I’ll just come out and say that the food is passable if you’re hungry, but nothing you’d ever crave. Similar to heating up a frozen dinner. That long-haired, blond guy… has no people skills at all. It’s almost as if you could read his thoughts, it is clear that they would say«What the heck are you doing here?! I don’t really have time for you. Don’t ask any questions. Just order. And when you get your food, eat it, pay, and get out.» Plain uncomfortable. Just not enjoyable. I haven’t been to a Lakewood location, so the one I’m talking about here is the one on 190.

I ordered pizza and had it delivered on 4⁄20 for a meeting lunch and it was bad. People seem to be having a hard time with the pizza. I ordered a pepperoni, bunch of meat and the pesto pizza. All of them were bad. The pizza seemed like it sat for a while. I guess this Scalini’s is no good for pizza.

Very disappointing! It’s been a couple of months, but looking to save some ‘dough’ on dinner– ordered their 2 for one pizza special– to go. Picked them up without looking inside the box– my mistake. The 18″ size ordered were 14″ if that. By then I was miles away. Should have called to complain but didn’t.

Wow! What a disappointment! After waiting for this place to finally open, we ventured out on a Saturday evening around 7PM to arrive to a disaster zone! After being seated by the hostess who was all of 16 years old, our waitress finally showed up who apparently never waited on tables before in her life! After receiving horrible service — wine did not come until 75% of our meal, 3 issues with the check, waiting 25 minutes for the right check to arrive, and the manager who obviously had never managed a restaurant — this place really has some growing pains to work out. It just goes to show you, just because you are successful in one location, doesn’t mean you will be a hit in a new location! It’s too bad since this location(190/Jupiter) is a VERY desirable location for Richardsonians!
