It’s great to see that independent specialty shops like this are still around in this age of mega-​stores.
My alternator died on me and getting an OEM reman unit shipped to me would have taken 2 – 3 days and cost upwards of $ 130. And after a bad experience with AutoZone parts, I decided to call RG&S. With their advice and parts, I was able to replace the rectifier in my alternator myself for less than $ 50 in parts and get up and running the next day. The owner even stayed a little late so I could pick up the part after their closing time. Now that’s service!
I could have had them perform the repair for $ 90 including parts, which I would highly recommend after doing it myself, but I didn’t have alternative transportation to bring in the alternator after removing it. I’ll definitely come back here next time I have an alternator problem.

I’ve brought alternators here before a long time ago, when Don Sr. owned the business, and never had a problem with them. I really like the idea of fixing alternators and starters instead of buying new or remanufactured units and having parts and pieces go to waste. In this society of disposable and one time use items, Richardson Generator and Starter has really got the right idea. Fix what’s broken instead of completely replacing every time.
A remanufactured alternator would have cost $ 130 and fixing this one was $ 35 + tax. Not too shabby and he had it done within 2 hours.
I’ll be visiting more often and I’m sure I’ll get the same quality and service I’ve gotten before.
