My brother took me here during my visit and the food is good. Not the best. Not the worst.

True Vietnamese food that is super fantastic! It is a very small diner but well worth waiting for a table at lunch. Service is quick and the waitresses are very attentive. The food is authentic and the amount of food they bring you can feed a small army! The spring rolls are delicious, they are filled with lots of meat! I had the Bun Rieu Cua, which contained pork blood, fried tofu and egg with fried fish cake in noodles with a nice beef broth. Bean sprouts, basil, mint and lime on the side.(For placing in the soup). It is authentic food so do read the posts to get an idea of what you might enjoy eating. The menu is rather extensive. Bring a friend who knows the food and it will even be twice as good!

Hillary T. and Christina B. is pretty much on the point here! I came to this place, and while they do have great Vietnamese egg rolls, I was pretty much set on ordering the banh hoi 5 mon, which has 5 mon or «items»: egg rolls, pork patties, shrimp patties, grilled shrimp, and grilled pork, and with the banh hoi, which is just thin sticky rice vermicelli patties. Supposedly, I was to put everything inside the rice paper, which is provided with hot water, and fold it up into a spring roll. However, I thought the banh hoi was a little too much and preferred to eat it alone with fish sauce, and I ate the egg rolls alone too — while I put the other meats and the leafy greens, mint and herbs into the roll — and man, my combo worked great! You could try to put everything in, as is customary, and play with the combination and find your perfect match. It was certainly filling, and I think one person can eat it, especially since it really isn’t that much meat, even though there’s 5 different items. Service was quick and friendly — and pretty attentive considering the place is small. It’s definitely authentic, and certainly have more authentic offerings than Bistro B. Next time, I’d like to try these things that are also not very common in Dallas: Banh Canh(noodle soup with crab claws) Hu tieu kho(dry egg noodle) Mi Quang(Central Vietnamese yellow noodle soup) Com ga xoi mo(Vietnamese deep fried chicken) Bun Cha Ha Noi(vermicelli with grilled pork)

Heard this place had very good mi quang, which I was really craving for. As we walked in, server sat us down immediately and expected us to know what we want off the menu when we barely got a chance to look at it. Service here isn’t all that great. We ordered spring rolls, with shrimp and pork, it was delicious, although the peanut sauce could be a better. I had Vietnamese iced coffee, which I expected to come in a french press, but it was already blended in a plastic to-go cup, not all that great. And for my main meal mi quang! The broth and noodle was pretty good until I saw a small fingernail sized dead COCKROACH in my meal! I was totally shocked and disgusted, as this has never happened to me before. I waved for the server and he came immediately and I told him about the little critter. Immediately the cashier came and asked what I wanted instead of it. Being shocked, I still attempted to eat another meal as I was hungry, but my appetite is already spoiled. My date said the server went to the kitchen and let one of the ladies, manager? Chef. Look at the COCKROACH but she just brushed it off to the server. No management apology, no follow up on the meals, paid full price for our meals, the cashier wouldn’t even look at us, horrible service. Safe to say, I won’t be back to eat here again.

Since my first time here I have returned another time and still got another Banh hoi option. Still looking for the grape leaf beef Banh hoi.

Excellent service, cheerful, not terribly experienced, but got the job done. HUGE portions, so order carefully. A good value for all the food you get. Go hungry.

This place is an frequent Vietnamese stop for me. They have all the staples: phở, rice plates, spring rolls, vermicelli, banh mi… and everything is pretty good. In my opinion, their rice plates are what they are known for. I usually get the one that has a bit of everything: grilled pork, fried shrimp patties, fried egg, shredded pork, and sausage. Can’t go wrong.

Fantastic food. Great pricing too. Portions are generous and you get a great value. I can see why people like this place Lousy service. Our server didn’t seem interested in helping us. He then proceeded to smoke right outside the door next to the no smoking sign. My wife is 6 months pregnant, so that didn’t sit well with me. Had to ask the staff repeatedly for various items like napkins, silver and water. Will come back once more to see if they will do a better job of serving. Still a good place though. Everyone deserves a second chance.

To me, this is the quintessential Vietnamese restaurant. From the neighborhood, to the guests, to the food, to the servers, to the takeout… It’s all authentic Vietnamese. If you’re lucky, you’ll go with an Asian who is at leased experienced with all the options including, appetizers, soups, main entrees and desserts. My Asian guest ordered a lot of different things which were all good. I really like this place and highly recommend it.

La Me definitely has the best Hanoi style Viet food in DFW. The Ban xeo and bun cha are the cloest to what I’ve jag in Hanoi. Their ban xeo is crispy yet light. The bun cha has a great smokey taste from the grilled meats. My only complain would be the fish sauce is too sweet. I’m guessing it’s for the American palate. Nothing I’ve had in Hanoi was ever this sweet. Will RTE.

I went during lunch time and this placed is packed! The venue is small and you are there to do your business, get up and get out. The staff was friendly, food came out quick and was good. I just didn’t like that my food had pork in it and it’s not mentioned in description.

In my opinion, La Me offers better qualify food compared to Bistro B(neighboring Vietnamese restaurant). Probably because La Me doesn’t mass produce their food because they are not nearly as big and therefore not as busy as Bistro B. If you’re looking for full-flavored authentic Vietnamese food, then I highly recommend this place. I’ve tried just about everything in their menu and have no complaints.

La Me is far from lame. In fact, it is one of my favorite restaurants in the Garland/Richardson area! This is a small, casual Vietnamese café with great authentic Vietnamese cuisine. What I love is that you can ROLLYOUROWNSPRINGROLLSHERE. Yes, you roll and you eat! A dreary task to the lazy, but everything tastes better knowing you made it, right? And it’s kind of fun. I recommend the Banh Hoi 5 Mon or the Mi Quang. Banh Hoi 5 Mon: Banh Hoi consists of bundles of rice vermicelli. Like squares of rice vermicelli! 5 mon means 5 types of food. You get egg rolls, pork patties, shrimp patties, grilled shrimp, and grilled pork(yup, that’s 5!) with your banh hoi. They also give you several sheets of rice paper, a bowl of warm water, and a plate of fresh herbs. ***For the springroll noob: Take one sheet of rice paper(it’s a flat small circle), dip it in the warm water while rotating the rice paper to ensure all parts are wet(to make it sticky! I know it’s magical.) and place the rice paper on your plate. Now grab your chopsticks and put what you want on that rice paper!(Banh hoi, meat, veggies) Don’t put TOO much because you are going to roll that and don’t worry you can roll more later. Also, PLEASE don’t shy away from the mints and herbs! They add such a refreshing and aromatic taste to your springroll and crucial for that authentic Vietnamese taste. To roll, just do it like a burrito. If the ends of your roll is open, whatever you eating it anyway. Dip that sucker in the fish sauce and voila! You rolled your own spring roll. I am so proud of you. Mi Quang: literally means Quang style noodle. How to describe this… Tinted tellow rice noodles in a yummy broth. My favorite part is the crunchy pieces of toasted sesame rice crackers! You dip it in the broth and bite into it sooo good. Comes with shrimp, hardboiled egg, and pork. They also give you a plate of fresh herbs and please put those in. :) Other things I recommend: — Xoi Ga(sticky rice with chicken). If they’re in stock, you’ll find it to the left of the cashier. It’s packaged, so you can eat it at home! — Banh Flan(Vietnamese flan). Who doesn’t like egg custard with caramel sauce? You can find this in that little fridge by the cashier. — Milk Tea. This is good if you like your milk teas with a slight coffee flavor. Ask for less ice because they do put a lot :( Take note that they are closed on Wednesdays! Oh, and for those who were wondering what La Me(pronounced«lah! m-eah») means: it’s Vietnamese for tamarind! :)

The Cookie Monster and I dropped by for a late lunch today with the mission of eating my first Dallas bowl of Bun Rieu(rice vermicelli with tomato broth and shrimp paste). Coming from the area, he said La Me is known for more traditional Vietnamese foods, and the crowd shows it; pretty much everyone was Vietnamese, and either everyone really knows how to order, or everything looked so delicious! The menu is expansive, offering all sorts of rice dishes, noodle soups of all kind, appetizers, and drinks~ ^^ He had the grand rice platter(#39?), which was a huge plate of rice with a heap of veggies, egg cake, grilled pork, slices of Chinese sausage, Spam, and shrimp patties on top. Dannnng, son, I want some of that! He really liked it, and both of us agreed there was more toppings vs. Bistro B across the street. As for the Bun Rieu? I saw the Bun Rieu Cua(La Me serves theirs with fried tofu, fried fish cake, pork blood, and bits of egg), and I knew it had to spend the night in my tummy, asaps. Yumm! Not as good as the ones I have in Houston, but it hit the spot. It was served with a plate of basil, bean sprouts, and limes, but it really didn’t need any of that; the broth was really flavorful: D La Me satisfied my craving for bun rieu, and I will definitely come back to try other dishes with friends when we’re craving Vietnamese food!

La Me is another hidden gem in Richardson. My Vietnamese friend took us there for lunch and was have returned since. In fact, I keep heading to Richardson for some great tasting authentic Asian food. La Me is where we go now when we’re in the mood for Vietnamese food. Service is good and fast. Not only do they have Phở but they also have pretty good Korean and Chinese dishes. My wife had phở and I tried the bulgogi which was great. My kids enjoyed the fried rice dishes. We’ve been back a second time because we liked it so much. There’s nothing fancy about the setup but I highly recommend it if you’re in the area.

La Me has become one of my «go to» restaurants in the DFW area when it comes to enjoying Vietnamese food. I’ve been here enough times that an updated review is needed. My Overall Rating — 4 Stars(Atmosphere, Service, Food, Return) Atmosphere — Improvements all around. Yes, it still gets busy & tables can me tight on weekend. Yes, the floors may need cleanup(after big parties). But during lunch on a weekday none of those issues at all. English is optional of course, but at the end of the day you’ll get a better experience during the week. 1 Star. Service — No change. ½ Stars. Food — Still solid. The egg rolls here are true Vietnamese style. They use rice paper instead of Chinese egg sheets. The result is a crispier bite. Best eaten wrapped in fresh lettuce and dipped in nuoc mam(fish sauce). Also, the bo luc lac(shaken beef) is well marinated & tender. Two other great dishes are the Bun Cha Ha Noi & Mi Quang. The first is a rice vermicelli dish with pork and the second is an egg noodle dish with pork & shrimp. Both are true Vietnamese dishes that represent Vietnam. No fusion, not tricked up, just how mom made it. 1 ½ Stars. Will I Return? — Yes! I stop by every now and then for their Bun Cha and/or flan. When I have a craving for either, La Me is my spot. Even if you’re not a fan of Vietnamese food, you should go just for the flan. 1 Star.

Small Vietnamese restaurant located near the Hong Kong Supermarket in Galrand/Dallas area. With each visit here, I always like to order something different. What I like about this place is that they have many specialty dishes. Depending on what I’m in the mood for, I recommend trying the following dishes: Appetizer: Bo bia(Spring roll style) Bo Luc Lac(Shank Beef rice plate, delish!) Banh Hoi 5 Mon Banh Canh(Noodle soup with crab claws) Chao(Rice porridge) Hu tieu kho(Dry egg noodle) Mi Quang Com ga xoi mo Bun Cha Ha Noi(Vermicelli noodle Ha Noi style) As for dessert and drinks, they make really great milk tea with tapioca. I believe they have a buy 2 get 1 free deal. Should check with the waiter. They also make really great flan if you have room for dessert.

Lots of Banh Hoi options. I got the banh hoi dac biet – pretty good and good portion(think it had about 5 diff meats). My friend got the bun rieu — looks and tastes nothing like home-cooked bun rieu. Think the the«crabmeat eggs» was actually real scrambled eggs with some crab in it. Saw that their bo luc lac was pretty popular. Service: like other reviews said… don’t expect much. No water refills. No smile. No help with the menu. Tiny, cramped seating. I wouldn’t mind coming back to try other items… just save your tip money cuz you won’t really need it.

I have been looking for a place for YEARS that has self service spring rolls made with grilled beef and all the sparkly and authentic Vietnamese sides. The last place I recall was Arc En Ciel but it closed many years ago. Using our GOODFRIEND Mr. Unilocal I found happiness times one million when I found La Me! This was the real deal with the rice-paper you soak in hot water and then GENTLY fill will char grilled steak and a plethora of vegetables and rice noodle(no s). The sides included mint, cilantro, carrot slice, cucumber slice and the GOOD, as Ina Garten says lettuce cups. All of this for $ 8.50 with tax and generous tip. Service was stellar and my water glass never went empty. Also there was no language barrier. The hallmark of the trusting service was when I discovered my debit card was in my car. I made a deal with the hostess that she can keep my Galaxy Note III if I do not return. Of course it only took a minute, but this is the service level you would expect at a five star restaurant. Proudly demonstrating Richardson’s diverse culture most of the customers were Vietnamese which is a huge indicator the La Me is authentic. Finally — it was sparkling clean and the air conditioning was sheer bliss. I will be back in two days and would strongly recommend La Me to my family and friends. My identical twin brother is going to be THRILLED!
