I’ve been eating Freebird’s burritos for 15 years now, I went to Texas A&M — home of the original Freebird’s and back when I was in college you went there for 2 reasons, the burritos were huge and cheap. Since moving to Dallas then Richardson I’ve noticed that the burritos have gotten smaller and smaller and are double the price that we used to pay. In fact they used to have different size tortillas for the different size burritos, not anymore. Now they just give more«portions» on the same size burrito. All I know is that when I used to order a monster it was more than any 1 person could eat and usually you could just cut it in half and eat half then and half later. Now the monster is more like what the old freebird used to be. The past couple of times the burritos haven’t been warm enough to even melt the cheese, the options are definitely better than chipotle, but oh what I wouldn’t give to have the old freebird’s burritos where you finished it and were stuffed for hours.

If you ask me, this place is way better than Chipotle. Way more versatile with many more options to fill up your burrito or bowl. Also if you come in extra hungry, they have the monster and super monster you can get which are HUGE. I knew someone who used to get a monster and ate half of it, then saved the rest for her next meal. Laid back atmosphere in here, and it’s great for groups, especially small groups where you only need to combine a couple of tables. The line can get long, but they have great system where they are able keep the line moving so even if it is long it isn’t a long wait.

My favorite place for burritos. HOWEVER, the indie restaurant has sold out. Changes to their menu, increased prices, and a ridiculous change to the rewards/loyalty program has seriously diminished like-ability. I still like the food… but its not the same place that feel in love with. A weekly staple for years… I feel like ill try the new places next door. However fuzzy and Chipotle are still not as good.

Free birds is my place for nachos or burritos. Don’t go for tacos. Way to small. I love their steak though and their chips. I miss this place when I travel. I prefer them over Chipotle but I like the tacos at Qdoba better. I think the quality of their meat and produce is way better than other places.

Better than Chipotle IMO. When you walk in it’s alot more spacious than Chipotle across the street and no waiting in like for 30 minutes. I ordered the vegetarian bowl because I’d rather have guacamole than meat. There are numerous servers behind the counter but you have 1 server scooping up your meals all the way to the end. I paid about 12 $ for my bowl, chips and queso and a drink. I’d say it was worth it. They also have salsas and limes available by the drinks. After I was done, I stood up to take my items to the trash can and I ended up spilling hot sauce on the floor. A server promptly addressed it and cleaned up our mess. Great food and the 5th star for customer service.

We’ve had better luck here because we stopped using the online ordering. Hard for it to get messed up when you’re watching. I will always choose Freebirds over Chipotle. Always.

Good flavor in the meat. Solid toppings. Service was as expected, they took my order and gave me the food I ordered.

I decided to give this place a try and i got really disappointed by their food. I was hoping it would compare to Chipotle but they are nowhere close. The food is super bland and their hot sauce is not hot at all. I was only able to finish that bowl because i was extremely hungry otherwise i could have tossed it in the garbage. My two star rating has nothing to do with the staff or the establishment itself. I don’t have anything more to say about FreeBirds other than i will never return to any of them. I will stick to Chipotle when it comes to this kind of food.

Hated it. I took more than one bite, trying to give the benefit of the doubt but it failed. I also hated the antics of the staff. After ordering the cayenne tortilla the chef advised me I could have anything I wanted, «if I paid for it». So, I paid $ 14 for a burrito and an order of guacamole/chips. I think it’s a fair price considering the portion size of the burrito. However, the chips were very hard & thick. The Freebirds chips experience made me think this must be what its like to accidentally bite into a dinner plate. I mean after all they did crunch, but you just don’t want it in your mouth afterwards. Then, I focused my attention on the burrito; it just fell apart. Before me laid a $ 1 puddle of sour cream mixed with excrements of Spanish rice(that I didn’t want but the chef advised is very good, «because were out of the cilantro lime rice» huh?) So, in protest of bad food I stabbed my knife and fork into the burrito drippings, stood up, left it on table, and sashayed… away. I’ll never return & you SURE won’t obtain a Foodie Baby Bump this way.

Some queso and bacon landed me a $ 10 burrito which I could’ve gotten a nicer tastier burrito at a Mexican restaurant with beans and rice on the side and a drink for almost the same price. There are no good values and excellent food for the price at Freebirds unfortunately.

The best burrito place around. If you do not like it, you ordered the wrong thing. Order a Burrito. It’s called Freebirds World Burrito. Make sure you get it with the Freebirds bbq sauce and also poor it on top when you are eating it. It truly makes the burrito.

This location is ok my favorite is 75 and lovers they usually give you a lot of food and I have enough to take. I like their bowls and salads a lot(not a burrito person) and if you add queso to it, it’s amazing. I like them over chipotle and they usually have more variety.

So in a sentence, what Freebirds has is relatively consistent quality, a great variety of ingredients,(mostly) friendly employees, and burritos of a size you can get nowhere else. For burritos in particular, Freebirds is far superior to anywhere else, including Chipoltle, which can be good or bad depending on restaurant or the time, and lacks the customization that only Freebirds offers. In case you’re not familiar with Freebirds, you basically constructing your burrito subway style; like subway, they’re all about one thing, the burritos, with a few lesser menu items. If it’s burritos, Freebirds is THE place to go; try ordering the super monster for a truly powerful burrito(Not all employees have equal skill in successfully rolling a super monster, however.).

I got the Vegetarian Monster. The rice is mushy and gross. It feels like I’m eating mashed rice with pico. My roommate got the Freebird and our burritos are literally the same size. Ingredients taste bland and disgusting. I’m literally nauseous trying to eat this so I can at least get some of my money’s worth. My one burrito cost me 10 dollars and I’m about to puke trying to eat it. Go to Chipotle across the street. Much, much better.

What a great, unique place! Awesome burrito and an amazing brownie to follow. Place has a cool vibe and I love the foil sculpture display on the wall — too funny! Will definitely be back!

Wanting to try something close and Tex-Mex I checked out Freebirds. For starters — maybe I should have ordered a burrito instead of two puny taco’s. Food: I left hungry. Period. They must have 30 toppings but they put maybe a small tea-spoon in each. I had to tell the server«more please» three times. I think that got me three leaves of cilantro. Could not even see or taste the beef. Ended up going to the counter and handing them a condiment container and telling them to fill it all the way with the corn salsa. Price: Two puny almost empty flour tortillas plus chips and queso and a drink set me back close to ten dollars. See receipt in photos. For half that at Taco Cabana you get about a half pound of steak fajitas, complimentary chips and all you can eat fresh condiments. Service: Nice but no one checked on me. Personally I would have checked on any customer taking photo’s of everything. Abviance. Probably better at lunch. Fairly empty until the bikers and Asian UTD students showed up. But I like those types. Weird and non-cohesive interior. I wanted to like this place but again left hungry for ten bucks. Count me out.

I dunno about this place. It has more variety than Chipotle sure, but it tastes less flavorful and less fresh, so I really don’t see the point in coming here unless you absolutely want queso or Spanish rice with your meal. At least the management is on the ball and corrected a mistake on my order, and the music and foil art is neat. Still a much bigger fan of Chipotle. Unless you’re specifically after something here that Chipotle doesn’t have, I recommend you instead go to Chipotle, either the one down Campbell or of you’re a little hungrier, the one by Colin Creek will usually give more meat than the Campbell one. A little tip from me.

Stopped there because Chipotle was so busy… now I know why. Went through the line and had the burrito made, asked for chips and salsa to go. At the cashier she wanted to include a drink(I hate pepsi products so I wouldn’t drink one if it were free), the preparer then started saying I can give you a larger queso, NODUMBASS I wanted salsa. Disgusted and ready to go postal I just paid and got the hell out of there. Classic case of «hipsters» paying more attention to buffanury instead of listening to what the customer orders. BTW when the preparer opened wide and exposed her tongue I almost puked at the site of her tongue stud. Remove it and maybe customers will understand what the hell you are saying.

I am super impressed by all the choices and decisions I get to make when I come here. Your food is so personalized it’s like you made it at home. Unfortunately I am a chipotle fan girl and I think the flavor and quality award goes to them. I wasn’t wowed by anything at free birds other then the countless choices. I’ve only been one time and maybe should give it another try but damn I love chipotle so that is asking a lot.
