This is a long review FYI!
I came in with dark brown hair (was previously dyed dark red twice) and wanted a black to silver/​gray ombré. I came in three times.
1^st time — We bleached my hair twice which turned into a dark orangey color. Later, towards the end of bleaching, he had ran out of his products. Unprofessional. When he had came back, he decided to rinse my hair even though I had a section of my bangs still DARK BROWN. Wth? Uneven bleaching. He then applied a gray dye on top thinking it could come out gray and it became a weird swamp green and orange even though he kept telling me that it looked «gray» while he was washing. Disappointed but still having hope.
2^nd time — After letting my hair rest for 3 days. We bleached my hair twice, i came out very blonde with orange tones. We decided to take another break because he said my hair needed a protein treatment. I also bought his organic shampoo and conditioner.
An odd thing that Joseph kept doing was that when he would brush my hair, the hair was very tangled and would be hard to brush through. He said that was because its so «broken». But when washing my hair, he said my hair is so healthy and strong?
3^rd time — He bleached my hair, again. Then he trimmed it. He then applied the gray dye onto most of the hair and then black dye to my roots for a nice blending ombré. Before he washed it, the color looked amazing. Silver and light and so pretty. As he was washing my hair, he kept telling me that I’d love it. I was so excited. As he towel dried my hair before he used the blow dryer, one of his clients whom had an appointment after me, barged in and was waiting impatiently. Joseph has washed and dried my hair multiple times, but he didn’t spray my hair with protectant and he didn’t even fully blow dry my hair after he found out his next client was waiting. Halfway of blow drying, I find spots of blonde near my bangs (that same darn section), so he left my hair damp and reapplied black dye onto the spots and let me walk out like that. Before I left, I complained that my hair wasn’t all gray. Only my top layer was gray and the rest of my hair is BROWN and ORANGE GREEN.
He kept insisting that it’s because the hair has not fully dried and that not all hair coloring turns out perfect. If gray dye is applied to blonde hair, it comes out gray ⁹⁄₁₀ times. How the heck did it turn green again?
He said that the haircut that I payed for will be done in a month after my hair has repaired. I told him how upset I was about my hair and he kept convincing me that gray is not a color, but a color made from combining colors. He then sent me examples of gray hair ombré that had ashy hues. Those are not the pictures I showed him and I don’t understand how he can bleach my hair about 4 times and get it to blonde and then I come out with dark gray hair? He offered to come back in to see what he can do but honestly for the $ 230 I paid, I don’t think I’ll come back.
I think I’m going to let my hair rest for a month and then I’m going salon hunting again, probably will be going to Ulta or a more experienced salon. He has been doing hair for 5 years, but I see him as a rookie. His personality is pretty chill and his suite has a calm atmosphere but that will not make up the mistakes of my gray and brown hair. Also, he kept saying it was because of my Asian hair that it’s so hard to lighten but i think that’s just his excuse of the color not coming through. Sorry Joseph but it was nice knowing you.
Update: it’s been a little less than a month since the procedure and all I can say is that this was wasted time and money. I wash my hair about every 3 days (dry shampoo and messy buns are my best friend!) and the gray stain has already come out. He did tell me that the gray he put on my hair was going to be like a stain? And it’s already gone. I look like a dark brown blonde right now. Did I seriously pay $ 230 for a month’s worth of gray/​blonde/​brown? Wow. This was my first «professional» hair coloring and I already have bad feelings about it. Joseph has offered for me to come back and fix it until I’m satisfied. Honestly though, if he couldn’t do gray within a few weeks, what makes me think he can do this in one more appointment?

Joseph is amazing! After 2 days, cut day one color day 2 he completely transformed the disaster that was my hair. Love everything he did. He’s a great guy. Fun to talk to. Will definitely go back in 6 weeks for a touch up! I

I always want to try some colour but dont know what is the right colour. Jeseph helped me pick the amazing one and also gave me a new hair style. I am so ready to begin my Thanksgiving trip now！FYI…He is soooo knowledgeable, patient and gorgeous!

I have been going to Joseph for about six months now and he is absolutely amazing! I always leave happy and he is always willing to tweak anything I don’t like. I was referred to Joey by my dad who has been a client of his for a few years now. I first came to him with dark brown hair wanting to go very blonde. I knew it was not going to be an easy process but Joey took on the challenge and spent several days getting me to the color I wanted. He was so patient with me and took his time to keep my hair in the best condition possible. Going from dark hair to completely blonde can be very damaging but Joey managed to keep my hair in good condition. My color came out beautiful and overall I am very satisfied with his work ! On top of Joey being a dedicated hair stylist he is also very kind and down to earth. I would bring my son into almost every appointment and my son loves him ! I would highly recommend Joey. I was looking for a good hair stylist after moving to Plano from Kentucky. After reading his reviews on Unilocal I decided to go see him. I am so happy I did! He looked at my hair, we talked about my lifestyle and what I liked. He then gave me an awesome haircut and style that I can maintain myself. He wanted to be sure I was happy. He is very professional and takes his time with you, not rushing you. I am happy with every visit and have recommended Joseph to everyone I know.

I actually found Joey on Unilocal while looking for a new hairstylist after moving to the plano/​frisco area. He is extremely talented and laid back! I’m super happy with every haircut and you can tell he cares about his clients. He is prob the most meticulous hairstylist I’ve been to, he’s really makes sure everything is perfect before you leave. I’m super happy with Joey and highly recommend him.

I had a great haircut and dye with Joseph! The style was great. I have short hair so the style is important and that’s what worries me the most at hair appointments. I’ve gotten so many compliments on my hair since then. He also uses high end hair dye and it didn’t sting or smell bad! First time that’s ever happened to me. In addition, it was fun talking with him throughout the haircut. It was pricier than I expected, but it was worth it to me. I’ve been looking for a stylist to stick with since I moved back to Plano, and I think it’s Joseph!

When I first walked in and saw Joey I knew right away he was somebody I could trust with my hair since I am very picky. Not only did he trim my beard for free he also offered to shampoo and performed other services. He is a professional in cutting hair for men/​women and a great guy to have any sort of conversation with. After my first hair cut I was sold to become a repeat customer! Highly recommend him for women/​men/​children or even trimming your beard!

I came to know Joseph through mutual friends. The subject of hair inevitably came up in conversation. I am very picky about who I let touch my hair as it is thick, wavy, and difficult to cut and style.
Today, I decided to make an appointment with him and see where it went. I am extremely satisfied with the care and professionalism which he exhibited. He used scissor and comb in unison to create an even and stylish cut.

I have been coming to Joey for over 2 years
, I have very difficult hair to cut it’s got cow licks and kinda thin on top .
