Great enchiladas, chips and salsa & tacos. Good service with good prices.

Three strikes and you’re out. My wife and I visited this place about five months ok and the food was tasteless and reminded me of hospital food. We tried it again two months ago and it was another let down, don’t eat the fajitas because even Taco Cabana can make them better! I decided to try their food again two days ago… and not only was the place empty in the middle of dinner service-the employees were to busy hanging out to be bothered to have even one of them up front to greet the food came out cold and bland and I ended up throwing it away(it was a to go order) and eating at the pizza place across the street. The good: it’s the only Mexican food joint on the corner, The bad: Mexicans stay say from this place and so should everyone else… it’s not authentic not does it have any flavor. The beef is questionable and the chicken and pork taste like they’ve been frozen and sent straight to the fryer.

This use to be our favorite spot. We are here at least one a week. The food was always good and the service was great. Apparently there are new owners now. The food is terrible and the service was absolutely awful. We won’t be back.

It wasn’t necessarily bad, but it wasn’t necessarily good either. My husband loved his enchilada and taco, and I liked my chalupas. We got a regular margarita on the rocks, and I wonder if the top shelf is better, because my regular was a lime green drink that had a hint of tequila, which makes you almost think it’s good. But it’s not. Again, it’s not a ‘bad’ place, it’s just very mediocre with not poor tortillas that aren’t homemade, and slow service despite us being one of about 3 tables here. They also allow dogs on the patio, which was perfect on this sunny, 70-degree day.

Went here tonight with my husband we sat near the bar in the corner. I had 2 ask who r waiter was after about 10 minutes. The place was not packed, and there was 2 waiters who only acknowledge us, because I said something. Young staff has no manners or courtesy 2 check on us. The table in front got plenty of attention had 2 ask 4 chips, asked 4 water twice, asked 4 napkins. The food was ok not great, but u can tell there is a lack of customer service! Heck I might as well should of went in the kitchen & fixed my own food. I did speak 2 the waiter by then I was pissed, his excuse I was busy? Really the table in front got plenty of service. Will not ever go back!!!

The service was fine. The food… decent. My soda was flat, so I exchanged it for a tea. If you’re in a bind, it’s not bad. I would never make outright plans to eat here, though.

Stopped here tonight with my two kids. Not usually a fan of Mexican food but it was the only place around. The food was high quality and the guacamole was excellent. The service was also excellent and never waited for anything. Very positive experience and I will go back.

If I could give this place zero stars I would! Watched a waiter refill someone’s drink by putting his hand over the top of the glass, dumping out the watered down drink then filling it back up with the same ice his hand touched! AND there was lipstick on my glass! Walked out. Never coming back. Enter at your own risk.

This is our ‘Go To” restaurant whenever we want a great meal during the week or weekends. The food is incredibly good and the waitstaff are friendly and attentive. We eat here at least once a week. The margaritas are great and very inexpensive. Please try the chipotle fajitas, the best I have ever tasted. A great value for the food and drinks. Chili Gordo is one of our top two restaurants!

We really enjoyed our meal. The service was good and the food was very good. The fajitas for two was more than enough for both of us and was hot and prompt. We came here because we won two $ 10.00 gift certificates at a local car show. We will come again. Good change from the chain Mexican restaurants. They also have small and large wine at a reasonable price. Good find!

Jupiter Road location: Mexican Shrimp Cocktail — perfect texture to lots of lovely large shrimp. Not too spicy, plenty of citrus and a ring of fresh jalapeño if you so desired. Cheddar Shrimp — perfectly grilled so when the shredded cheese is melted on top they are not over cooked. Carne Guisada — I don’t know which way is correct/authentic, but I know what is RIGHT! Most guisadas are like pot-roast and sauce poured out on your plate … can I have a bowl, please? … THISONE is more like fajita steak stewed in the sauce and allowed to reduce so it isn’t soupy at all. You can actually put it into a tortilla like fajitas, but better with the flavors of the sauce, onions, mushrooms, peppers. I may never do regular fajitas again. Now to try the Plano location since it’s closer to us … but if it doesn’t stand up, we’ll be making the trip down Jupiter much more frequently. — {update} — no longer a Plano location :( We are much more dependent on food and flavor, or we might gig ‘em a little for service. The young man serving us was a bit timid and did not put nearly enough ice in the iced tea … everyone has to start somewhere.

Okay, I have been going to this place since 1999. I am not a regular, however, as of late I probably will be. Things have drastically improved over the many years. We went there a couple of weeks ago, and the place was packed. Wow!!! It was delicious! If you have tried them in the past, then please give them another try. I think you will find things have definitely improved.

Staff is really nice however for restaurants I rate more primarily on taste. It was pretty bland unfortunately. I liked the atmosphere but for the money I would have wanted more flavor honestly.

Our family has been eating here for years. It is our go to place when we just can’t make a decision. We have never had bad service or a bad meal here. Ever. Allow me to respond to those who griped about the cost or the quality. Rule #1 of a review, rate it for the category it’s in. Rating Chili Gordo’s against some uptight, froofroo North Dallas Mexican Café Eatery Naturally Sourced Local Douchebaggery Cullinary Experience is not only idiotic, but egotistic and pedantic. «Sour Cream probably came from tub so I’m not rating it» is that kind of stupidity. It’s a Mexican Food Joint for christ’s sakes. Were they supposed to make the sour cream by hand to satisfy your need for all handmade product? Grow up. You want that level of quality, go to the douchebag palace of Javier’s Gourmet Mexicano and pay $ 23.95 for FAJITASDECABRITO(limited availability). Jesus reviewers like that piss me off. Every one has an opinion but please apply a micron of intellect to it. Oh ya, on to the review… So, last night I had the beef fajitas, my spouse had the Rocky’s combo plate and my son had a quesadilla with the taco meat option. Service was fast and polite. The food was good and served hot. Their refried beans still suffer from a little inconsistency i.e. one time thick, the next time a little watery. Still, they are fine and the Mexican rice is always fluffy and flavorful. The fajita’s came with the big sizzly show and my son(9) said we might need a fire extinguisher, lulz. All the plates were cleaned including those rice and bean sides you see in every Mexican food joint. It’s just a good solid meal. Another solid 4.

Had MLK Jr day off for a holiday and decided to get some errands done over this way. Hadn’t been to Chili Gordo’s for a few years, so I figured I’d stop in and check em out again. Quick service for a 1:30 pm arrival. No problem parking, but that can get tight when they are busy and the Donut shop is open(until 2 pm). Had the Mexican Chimichanga with fajita beef. It was very good, if a bit small compared to previous versions. Rice/beans/pico were very good. Service was good too. A bit disappointed they took out their salsa/chips/drink bar. A sopapilla for dessert. Tasty! light and flaky! Overall a very good experience. Very reasonably priced too!

The first time I went to Chili Gordos was for lunch probably back in 2004. We pulled up and there, sitting on the curb were two employees waving us off. They came up to our car window and told us that they had a gas leak and they were closed, but gave us a card for a buy one, get one meal in the future. Soon, thereafter, we took them up on that offer and I really liked the food. Every day, they have a special on the board in the entryway. It could be potato enchiladas, or a chili releno, or quesadillas, etc. If the price doesn’t have all the digits, $X.XX, check with the waiter to make sure. Some punks like to erase the .99 and you end up with $.99 more on your check without you knowing. Today’s special was Pork Enchiladas with rice and beans. So the ambiance. It’s a nicer hole-in-the-wall than the average HITW. There are knick-knacks on the walls and there are a few TV’s usually playing some kind of sports. I know you’re thinking it, so yes, all the wait staff speak English and they speak it well. So the first time I went, I remember the beans tasting like bacon or lard. I say this in a good sense. They were REALLY good. I like my salsa full of jalapenos, my guacamole full of cilantro and my beans full of lard. Today, while the wife was blessing our food, I could smell the bacon lard goodness of the beans. YUM. The Enchiladas were pretty good. I got con carne sauce on them. Their flautas, quesadillas, nachoes and a host of other things are very good. Oh yes, how can I forget their taquitacos. They’re tacos that have been fried inside their shell. They’re SO good. The wife, as always, got the tortilla soup and loves it. They just started renovating the place today, so they’ve added some curvy dividing walls and are painting the walls white. It’s a cleaner look than before and I think an overdue facelift. The food is as good as always. So Gordo in Spanish means Fat and you can definitely taste and smell it in their beans. It’s the first thing I notice and it will probably be the first thing that kills me.
