Safeway

Not the same vibe or atompshere as before the Haggen Debacle… Clean well stocked but now the employees are zombie like /​indifferent. And the pricing on some stuff seems Haggen like.

It’s Safeway. Nothing more nothing less. You get your groceries and you get out. Sometimes the lines are long, sometimes they’re short. Sometimes things go on sale, other times it’s cheaper elsewhere. It’s a grocery store. If you’re expecting something more, or looking for a luxury experience, at a grocery store nonetheless, then you need to find a higher calling in life.

THIS REVIEW IS FOR A DIFFERENT SAFEWAY THAN THE ONE ON 140TH… Unilocal will not let me review the Renton Highlands Safeway, for some reason!~ The Safeway that became a Haggen’s. is now a Safeway again in the Renton Highlands on NE 4^th! I love it… so glad. The one thing I noticed on my first two visits there… ALL THE STAFF are the NICEST, MOST HELPFUL, KIND, EFFICIENT, WONDERFUL employees of any grocery store I’ve ever been in.
Is this just some effect of the store being brand new — and it was beat into the new hires heads to be so… I don’t know. but I hope it lasts. Staff of every kind (customer service, cashiers, produce, pharmacy, etc.) were just wonderful. That will keep me coming back for sure!
Store is almost 2x bigger than the Safeway closer to my house. but I love that there are more product choices here.

This Safeway Store is tops. The new Seafood department manager has really improved her department. They now have 3 varieties of oysters, and has added Ahi Poke! Love it!

I just moved near Fairwood and was super excited to have a new grocery store to shop at. After stopping by, maybe not…
This store is a newer, remodeled, location, and it looks really good. Seems to be very well stocked with a lot of product options. They have a floral department, that looks beautiful. Up front they have a huge section of Seahawks stuff, kinda cool, Go Hawks!
This place gets BUSY. Between all of the older people, annoying groups of teenagers, and all of the displays in the aisles, I had to stand and wait (not just for a like a few seconds, but a few minutes) to get by people in an aisle multiple times. Slowly I was able to get through the store to find what I needed. But goodness. Can you guys make your aisles a little wider? Or maybe not have so many free standing displays in the aisles? It’s impossible to get by when people have carts or those electric chairs and don’t want to move a few feet so other shoppers can get by. Same with up front by the customer service and Seahawks section — there is so much stuff that people coming out of the check-​stands don’t have much room, and it’s hard to just walk by without getting bumped by carts or running into displays.
Prices are outrageous. I was shocked to find some of the items I buy on a regular basis at Fred Meyer or even Target for $ 3-​$ 5 more than I normally pay — even items on sale! CRAZY. There is no way I’m paying $ 4.25 for a box of Ritz Bitz when I can go to FM and get them for $ 2.50. Also a lot of their promotions call for you to buy multiple of an item to get the discount… sometimes I don’t want to buy 5 boxes, I just want one.
I didn’t see any staff, so I didn’t have any interaction with them. I used self check out as well, so still didn’t even have anyone ring me up.
I’ll probably just drive the extra few minutes and continue going to Fred Meyer.

This Ace hardware has always had helpfully people willing to go the extra mile. I have used them for 7 years.

By far the most courteous Safeway staff that I’ve ever came across is at this location. I’ve been going there for seven years now, and everyone there is nice, and willing to go above and beyond to help.

It is too bad that at 430PM on a Thursday when I walk into the vegetable department and there is no broccoli or peppers. Seems odd. The check out lines are long, however the staff seems nice enough. I just wish they had their shelves stocked.

Best place to get your groceries but the people in the deli are not very good at handling crowds when it comes to the floral department the lady that works there is very nice and I would suggest that if you have a son or daughter in high school get corsages and boutonnière made here.

It can get crowded in the afternoons, but the selection is always great and stocked fully. Staff is wonderful and store is overall very clean.

I dropped by this Safeway late at night to shop around for some snacks. There’s plenty of parking, and it’s very conveniently located. There’s a Starbucks, Bartell Drugs, library, gym, banks, and other stuff all within walking distance.
One small thing I enjoy about shopping at this Safeway is the shopping carts. They have these smaller more compact shopping carts that are FAR easier to maneuver than the traditional long heavy ones.
In terms of snacks, they offered most major snack brands EXCEPT the Austin sandwich cookies, which I love! They offered Keebler sandwich cookies, but they were roughly a dollar more than what they were priced at WinCo for.
This Safeway does have show off their 12^th man pride, though. I saw a ton of Hawks-​themed foods all over the store. Another thing this Safeway has that WinCo doesn’t is Beecher’s cheese! That alone is enough to get me to come to Safeway.
However, with all things considered, I would still prefer to shop at WinCo because of the overwhelmingly lower prices they offer for essentially everything Safeway sells. Safeway does offer discounted rates for Safeway Club card members, but even after the club discount their prices are still often higher than WinCo’s.

I always try to go in the morning, because it can get pretty crowded in the afternoon.

I kind of like this Safeway. I go early in the morning, and while I may find that the over abundance of staff restocking shelves in kind of in my way, the place is clean and the staff are pretty quick to apologize when they hit you with the restocking cart. (that happens from time to time)
I think the manager is a bit frazzled, but the store seems to run pretty well, so I’ll keep coming here early in the morning.

Decinately my number one grocery store. Always fast, clean, friendly.

This is our go to grocery store since it is the most convenient location to our house. The store size is average with good prices and selection. Safeway makes one of the best bagels, especially for a grcoery store bakery they are surprisingly awesome and cheap! They have self check out stations which I love. It anchors a large shopping center with a pet store, bartell drugs an ace hardware and some fast food joints. So a great location to get alot done.

I typically love Safeway as it is, but I’ve noticed that everyone is super polite here! While it’s still new to me since I just moved nearby, it seems to be easy to figure out the layout.

The safeway itself is fine. Normal safeway. My 2 stars are a reflection of the terrible, horrible, no good, very bad parking lot. I am not exaggerating, i feel like every minute I am half a second away from getting side swiped, rear ended or run over in a crosswalk.
Otherwise, the deli is suuuper slow, don’t try to get a sandwich on a lunch break because you will waste your entire hour waiting for them to make it.

I don’t come to this Safeway as often as I used to, but I like the place. Price-​wise, I think some things here are a little more costly than other grocery stores I shop at, but sometimes convenience over-​rides cost, especially if I’m on a time crunch. This Safeway is also pretty close to the LA Fitness location that I’ll go to from time to time, so another plus as far as convenience goes.

i only shop here when i need something easy or quickly and driving 2 miles to fred meyer won’t do. otherwise, safeway is among the MOST expensive and limited as far as natural foods. it’s ridiculous how much they charge! i can get identical items at whole foods, pcc or fred meyer for at least $ 2 – 3 less. the organic produce is a joke. except for the pre-​washed lettuce in a container, it’s a teeny, tiny little section along the back wall and a small area in the middle. the only upside is that they do carry a decent beer selection for my hubby.
