Why is this location always out of mashed potatoes tho? The wait always seems too long considering there is tons of chicken just chilling in the heaters. Hate the drumsticks they always seem undercooked.

Stopped in at 8pm to order a 2 piece dark dinner. Was told they were all out of dark and only had white avainle. Was offered NO substitutions and told it would be at least 20 minutes. Second time in 8 days this has happened. I use to eat here at least once a week, sometimes twice in a week. No more, tired of driving there, only to find out they are out of what I want!

Four stars for the niceness of the staff lady, otherwise it’d be two or three for the food. You know a chicken place is worth passing over when the sides are better than the chicken! The mashed potatoes were excellent and the baked beans were good also, but the chicken… at least the spicy kind, definitely would be better at Popeyes. The plain chicken was good. Not the best, but passable. I would try them out again, just not for spicy chicken.

Since I work in the area this has been a place I regularly go to. The chicken is always the best. The customer service is good too, not much you can really do to improve it in that work environment. Would recommend this place to anyone that likes chicken, especially spicy chicken!

Best Fried Chicken I’ve ever had. Call ahead of time so you aren’t standing there smelling all the goodness for so long. Depending on the day, the staff can be friendly or preoccupied. Too bad there are no tables and chairs to sit down, only takeout. Perhaps it’s unfair to knock them for that, but it’s my review and you’re not the boss of me. Bread Pudding and Peach Cobbler are also excellent for an after meal splurge.

I got the two piece dinner meal, spicy with mashed potatoes and slaw. Delicious. I am a fan of the Popeyes biscuit and was determined to be disappointed with the roll, but this one was much better than the one I had at the Tacoma Ezelle’s, and in fact quite tasty. The potatoes were chunky and peppery, and I agree with a previous poster that the gravy was lack luster. The chicken was gloriously crispy and flavorful, not dry. I even got a breast. I wish it came with a drink. Not the most welcoming dining area, but none of that matters when I have delicious fried chicken. I am just worried about having to resist stopping here on my way home everyday.

Oprah seems to have gotten it right! Well, at least with her fried chicken preference. Ezell’s has quickly become one of my favorite places to pick up dinner in a rush. No more standard fast food stuff. I want some southern classics when I get home after a long and tiring day. I love the spicy chicken(it isn’t hot-spicy, just flavorful), the fluffy rolls, the mashed potatoes, and of course the sweet potato pie. If they had sweet tea, I’d probably be there every day. 4 years living in the South and Renton is where I find the best fried chicken. Imagine that.

I came about 20 minutes before close and you could tell the food had been sitting out for awhile after your first bite. Chicken tasted like biting into a mouthful of grease. The food here is a bit greasier than other chicken places, but it’s always been like that. Maybe it’s the type of oil or that’s how they keep all the flavor in? I usually order the chicken strips, and those are good! White meat chicken strips, that they manage to keep moist and juicy. I can normally pass on the chicken, but my son wanted fried chicken… We also had the mashed potatoes which were chunky(in a good way), with chunks of potatoes. Gravy was nothing special though, it’s gravy. Ezell’s will do for my chicken fix when I do not want to leave Fairwood, since it’s only 3 minutes from home.

Prices have increased tremendously… I remember when they were just a hole in the wall in the central district. Now, they are a corporate chain, and they think no one has noticed the price jump… I will make my own damn chicken or go to the grocery store… also, the chicken sits allllll damn day log, and is hard and stale. Not very happy. This was the Kent location. I learned my lesson and requested fresh chicken, at the Renton location, but had to wait 15 minutes,… Um, you know what? I don’t NEED chicken THAT bad. It’s unhealthy and greasy anyway. I miss the old Ezells with better quality chicken, and the prices to match,.

On my Thanksgiving trip to Washington state I really wanted to try the infamous Ezell’s. I heard so much about this chicken joint and also heard that it was endorsed my Oprah so it was a must for me while I was visiting. My boyfriend and I visited the Renton location(not sure if there are others in Seattle). It was a simple, small place with a few tables for those who wish to dine in. However, I’ve got to say I was a tad bit disappointed in the chicken. I feel like my first experience was that«my expectations was too high going in» type of thing. I mean, the chicken wasn’t horrible, but I was expecting something a lot better. The chicken was a little too dry for my liking. Despite my high expectations, the prices were very reasonable and it seems like they had a lot of special offers on buckets and meals. Overall, I think this place was just okay. I give it a 3 out of 5 stars because despite the dry chicken, the prices were definitely reasonable.

Haven’t had this for a while, and heard rumors they were under new management. I was very happy with a recent order, the spicy chicken I ordered was delicious! Juicy, tender, and fair sized. The fried Okra was a great addition.

I had heard all the hype about this place… and sadly was disappointed. The chicken was great, but the sides left something to me lacking. The potato salad was a bit undercooked, beans were cool, not hot. And the mashed potatoes tasted like instant potatoes made with too much water. The gravy was good though! My first visit was poor. The service was weak. The two ladies seemed a bit arrogant, like I wasn’t worth helping. weird feeling… Tried it again, later. Food and service was the same. I was told to try their other locations, that this one isn’t representative of the others.

Great Sides! Dry Chicken… So the Famous Fried Chicken didn’t live up to it’s prestigious title. I came in around 5o’clock which should be the busy time, and fresh juicy chicken. This was not the case, I ordered the 8-piece special with half spicy and half original. All but one of the pieces were dry, it was pretty disappointing. The real winner was the sides Ezell has to offer, from mash potatoes and okra, to Baked Beans and Peach Cobbler. The sides I tried was the mashed potatoes with gravy, which was awesome! The other side was Baked Beans and they were just as great. The only other thing that I regret not trying was the Peach Cobbler, it looked delicious! Maybe ask if they can put in a fresh order?

Two things you can count on at Ezell’s Famous Fried. #1 The best spicy friend chicken you will ever taste, and #2 possibly the worst service and lack of respect for customers in retail. I have been eating at Ezell’s for close to 30 years now and I have never got consistently poor service until this location opened. Go there one day and your order will fill the to go box, the same order the next day is only half full. Expect to be overcharged and to have your order packed wrong. The best part about it all is if you catch this and call the staff on it, be prepared to be talked down to like you are the one with a high school degree at best frying chicken. No question the chicken is good, but the reason so many of you are not familiar, or you don’t see more locations is because of the reputation below. Many locations have closed, because the combination of consistency and service are so far below par.

We drove 26 miles for our first taste of Ezell’s after reading reviews on here about how awesome it was. We got the 8 piece Family Pack which includes 2 wings, 2 breasts, 2 drumsticks and 2 thighs, 4 biscuits and 2 sides of your choice. With 2 large drinks our order came to around $ 22.00. They don’t have highchairs so if you need one either take in a stroller like we did or get it to go. I have to say we were not disapointed in the least bit. The chicken is HUGE. It’s juicy, it’s crunchy, it’s everything you expect fried chicken to be and then some! Ezell’s will be one of those places I crave and only it will do when I want Fried Chicken. On top of great food, the staff was very customer oriented and did everything they could to insure that we had the best experience possible.

There are probably other chicken places I could go to in South King, but it’d take a lot to sway me. It helps that this one is conveniently located just off Petrovitsky. I’m a big fan of Ezell’s. This is the fourth location I’ve been to, and none of them disappoint. The spicy mix is all that I order, whether it’s breasts or the chicken strip half-pound meal. The biscuits are soft and tasty, which is why I try to eat them slowly as to enjoy the flavor. My favorite sides are the beans and mashed potatoes, though the latter can be a crapshoot sometimes. Desserts that get a passing grade for me: pumpkin pie(B) and bread pudding(A-).

Pretty tasty! This place came highly reccommended! We had the strips, regular of course, they were soo good. We had the fries, they are the crinkled kind, could have been cooked a tad more, but tasty. The rolls, sooo good, better with honey and melty butter. The coleslaw, the kiddos ate it up, so thats a good sign. The potato salad, HUGE disappointment, not liking it at all. Oh and all this for 15 $… like it, or better yet, love it! We plan on heading back!

I could hardly believe it when I saw the news plastered all over Facebook. My little hometown of Fairwood wasn’t the hottest spot in Seattle for the newest location of… well, anything. Not to be too condescending to my own little patch of suburbia, though. We have our now-prized chicken hot spot that isn’t the KFC down by the Fred Meyer. We have an Ezell’s Chicken. An Ezell’s Famous Chicken. And I became sentient of this fact the moment we pulled into the Albertson’s parking lot, and saw the glory of the sign, beckoning us into hot, crispy, spicy fried deliciousness. The scent wafted over my family and I was we stepped in early on Saturday. This was right. The chicken gleamed under the heat lamps, as we took our order, usually reserved for long drives out to Seattle. Leg, thigh, wing, strips, gizzards. A veritable feast to be topped off with sides and oh-so-soft-and-sweet rolls. The chicken, as always, was tremendous. Spicy recipe is the way to go. Crisp, and tasty. Hot and filling. Daresay… even nap-inducing. The rolls were as the should be. Sweet, soft and nearly creamy, an ideal foil to the chicken. It’s a quaint spot. It’s not too flashy. It’s, as it should be, a neighborhood eatery. They forgot to add our sides to our order at the counter, but the owner, clearly bubbling over her new business, was all too happy to throw in all of the side options for free to make up for it. Mashed potatoes, corn, hot baked beans, and cool coleslaw. Tasty and flavorful, as they should be. Fairwood isn’t too much of a place. We have our moments of proud transcendence of our middle-class suburban monotony. We’ve found, perhaps, one more reason to be happy to be in Fairwood. Our Ezell’s Famous Chicken. Now, if you pardon me, I gots the itis. *chicken coma*
