On the morning of my birthday, I decided to come here with my good friend Mickey. I have never been to this quaint little restaurant despite my proximity to it. I know that Little House is great for breakfast, brunch, or lunch thanks to the wonderful Unilocalers of local Renoites. The interior is cozy and comfortable and customers can get a view of the kitchen preparing the food. Customers choose where they want to sit as well. The patient waiters and amiable chefs made my visit all the better since I waited nearly twenty minutes for Mickey to finally arrive.(I walked, he drove.) I ordered the Italian Benedict while Mickey ordered another benedict. His meal came out first and when it did, a chef came to our table shortly after and reassured me that my dish was almost ready, which was really sweet of him because I was not expecting him to personally come out and tell me that. Of course, our benedits were nothing short of delicious and filling. The prosciutto of my benedict was cooked just right and the hash brown strips finely complemented the hollandaise. In the end, my visit brightened even more when Mickey decided to pay for my part since it was my birthday. I would tell you how much my meal costed, but Mickey paid for me and wouldn’t let me see the receipt. Just before I clicked Write a Review, I was rather shocked to see on Unilocal that they had closed/moved locations! Hopefully when they open again, people can visit them at their new location and appreciate the customer service and fabulous food.

This little café is a great place to go for breakfast or for lunch. I love the menu options and everything is priced reasonably. I ordered the Spanish Omelette and it was absolutely delicious. The meal came with potatoes and they were by far the best breakfast potatoes I’ve had at a restaurant. The staff was quick to serve and was incredibly friendly. This is a place that I will definitely be returning to in the future. The current location is great. I love the natural lighting and the homey décor. The fireplace during the winter is also a great touch. This restaurant is moving locations as of 12/30/2014 so it will be interesting to see where they end up.

Just the thought of writing this review is making me sad… My family and I decided to take a spontaneous weekend trip to Reno and I took the opportunity to find some good eats. Let me say now, I have never been so grateful for Unilocal until the day they brought me to this little house on Center St. I saw the reviews and knew instantly that I needed to find out a bit more about this spot. I want to say restaurant but this place is so much more… It has that neighborhood aunt/grandma feel to it, which is very warming and homelike. We were seated instantly and were greeted like we were part of the family. The prices here are very affordable and the quality of the food is amazing. I’m honestly sad they’re so far away from me… Anyways, I ordered the Italian eggs Benedict(which I gambled with because I highly dislike any kind of Benedict). BESTDECISIONOFMYLIFE! Their hollandaise sauce is beyond amazing! I cannot even begin to describe the taste of that homemade sauce. It was literally magic in my mouth. We also ordered a full stack of pancakes(3 large pancakes) and split that amongst the 4 of us. Those pancakes are CRACK! They are fluffy and have a slight vanilla taste to them, which is something I hadn’t tasted in a pancake until that moment. Definitely something to remember. I have yet to have a breakfast experience olé this in San Francisco so I’ll just have to sit here patiently and wait to go back to this little house. If you are ever in the area, it is a MUST that you come to this house on Center St.

Normally, houses turned into restaurants rely too much on their cuteness and dizzy layout. But I liked this one. A couple of things that kept it from being five stars. One is legitimate, one’s pretty stupid. First, let’s get the legitimate one out of the way. Toast the toast, people. I want to see golden toastiness, Second, and I know this sounds stupid, and it is, so I didn’t take any points off for it really, but I want to be told where to sit. I loathe the discomfort of standing there, looking around, trying not to make eye contact with other diners, because you told me I can sit anywhere I want. I don’t KNOW where I want to sit, I’ve never been here before. Should I sit over there? Oh crap, I made eye contact, now he’s gonna think I don’t want to sit next to him. He’s going to confront me in the parking lot after breakfast. Oh, if only you just suggested that nice little table by the window? Then after you left we could ask each other, «Why did she put us here? That table looks nicer.» Anyway. They know how to make an omelette, so they are on my Good List. Nice chunks of sweet ham and cheddary cheddar. Interestingly-shaped hash browns. Browned a little more and they could be perfect. Great coffee, nice and strong. I briefly glanced at the lunch menu and there are things I could talk myself into eating on there. I would definitely come back, now that I know where I’m gonna sit.

I’d heard a lot of people refer to that little house on center street, and for the longest time I actually thought they were talking about a little house on center street. Well it turns out that while there are a lot of little houses on center street, there’s just on Little House on Center St., and it’s gotta be one of the cutest restaurants I’ve every been to in my time. Situated on Center Street sits a little house that has been converted into a restaurant. This location was formerly Rose’s, a beloved lunch and sandwich mecca in the Midtown District, that is sadly no more. Fortunately for us, the space didn’t sit vacant for long, and with some much needed minor remodeling to open up the space and create a big open kitchen, is now a great spot to grab breakfast or lunch. The service is amazing and friendly, and they’re genuinely happy to see you. You’ll feel like you’re visiting old friends from the moment you walk to the moment you leave, and you can watch the hustle and bustle of the kitchen the whole time, something that I thoroughly enjoy because it lets you see how much fun the staff is having. The menu has about what you’d expect, from omelettes to pancakes for breakfast, to sandwiches, burgers, and salads for lunch. The menu says they use a combo of chuck and shortrib for their burgers, so I was hell bent on ordering one of those! I chose the Bleu Burger and added bacon to it, a favorite combo of mine, and ordered it medium rare. A friend of mine did the same but ordered his medium. The food arrived in a timely fashion, and I was really impressed with the beautifully toasted brioche bun they were using, the doneness of the bacon, and the freshness of the veggies. But when the burgers arrived, the server made no mention of one being medium rare, so I knew it wasn’t happening. In addition, the burger was served with crinkle cut fries, a product that can only come from the freezer. It hurt to see they’d spent so much time to create this beautiful burger blend and source this great bun, and then overcook it and serve it with a side that does not reflect the handmade efforts put into the food or atmosphere. Maybe I’m being too picky, but I wanted to see them follow the train of thought all the way through. Truth be told, I didn’t say a word in the restaurant because I was there having a meeting, and I should have regardless. I’ll definitely be back to try them again, and you can count on the fact that next time I’ll be sure and tell them about my previous experience.

Continuing with our plan of trying all the new breakfast joints in town, Sunday brought us to the Little House. What an amazing spot! The remodel of an old Reno house is really well done. The place was really hoppin’, but we weren’t made to wait, as the weather was nice, and with all the outdoor seating, there was plenty of room for everyone. Kid wanted to sit at the counter, though, so we took the front-row seat to watch the staff at work in the kitchen. Despite the busy time, the whole staff was operating extremely well. One thing that I noticed is that they work as a team, with people picking up slack wherever need be. We didn’t have one particular server, but several, which I thought was pretty cool. Everybody who passed by took a second to check on us, and my mug was always brimming with fresh coffee. The only hiccup in the service was that we had to wait a while to get menus when we were sat because they had run out. Our opinions on the food were split. I had the biscuits and gravy, and it was great! The gravy was thick and flavorful, and there was a TON of food, including two full sausage patties hidden under the gravy. My only complaint was that the potatoes could have been a bit more well done. Kid had the pancakes with bananas and strawberries, and we both agree that those are probably the best pancakes in town! Super fluffy and delicious. Husband, though, was not as happy with his meal, the Italian Benedict, mainly because he thought ciabatta was too chewy for a benedict and because he was still hungry after finishing it all. Overall, I was thinking 4.5 rounded to 5, but Husband convinced me that we need to keep it at 4.5 rounded to 4, mainly because Little House is competing with some really amazing breakfast spots, so, by comparison, they still have some work to do to measure up. Still, a very enjoyable breakfast, and I highly recommend a visit! We will definitely be back.

2.7 — hollandaise on Benedict was not made correctly, frozen hash browns!!! Toast was not properly golden when served, and overall, breakfast experience was sub-par. A converted older house, the architecture is rather cutesy, but not the sub-quality food. Another misguided Unilocal endorsement that just did not live up to 5 stars – not even close.

I am giving four stars because the problems that I had were more my fault than theirs. I finally made it into this very cool remodeled old house about a month ago. They did a great job remodeling, it feels very homey. I ordered the biscuits and gravy plate, it comes with two eggs, two sausage, two slices of bacon and hash browns. I ordered it with all sausage. When it came out it had the bacon on it. I called them over and they took it back to get it fixed. It came back with three sausage, I questioned only three, not realizing that a full order of sausage is two pattys and a full order of bacon is four slices. A little bit later someone who acted like a manager came over and explained why I got only one more sausage. He was very nice about it and said that he was sending over a fourth sausage anyway. Thank you for the excellent customer service! Now for the food. The biscuits were nice and flaky, the gravy was just the right amount of sausage and spices, and the house made sausage were very tasty. I like the way they cut the hashbrowns, they look like it is shaved. Next time I will have to remember to ask for them to be cooked well done, or crispy. I had coffee and water to drink. The coffee was very good and they did a good job not letting it run out. I would recommend them and I look forward to the next time I go there to try something else on their menu.

I ate breakfast here on a Saturday morning, my first time here. My family loves this place and I see why. It is dog friendly(we brought our tiny dog on a leash but others didn’t) and we ate outside under an umbrella. All of the servers were very friendly and brought drink refills regularly. The food was SO good. We all(4) ordered versions of the California omelet /scramble. I ordered mine with spinach instead of cheese. When the plate arrived it looked so good that I almost didn’t notice that they left off the avocado! When we mentioned it to the waiter he brought it out on a plate with another little slice of melon and ½ a strawberry(bonus) so it looked very nice. The hash browns were very good.

After hitting the Rib Cookoff on Thursday, we went to the Little House on Center St for Friday morning breakfast. It’s just .7 mile down the road from Harrah’s. Street parking is easy and I imagine that it’s a lot less crowded than on the weekend. All sixteen of us were seated, served water and coffee, orders taken and food served in a snap. Great homemade hearty breakfasts were served with a smile by several servers at a very reasonable price. I recommend it as a great«go to breakfast place» before making the drive down the hill. Pancakes, french toast, and eggs benedict are best.

I went here for breakfast. It’s in a cute little house on Center St. converted into a restaurant. There is a lot of street parking fronting the restaurant, but I did not see an actual lot. Inside is pretty charming. There are wooden tables and chairs inside with wood flooring. In the back is an open kitchen where you can see your food being made. There are about 2 tables outside on the porch if you wish to sit there. Service was friendly and casual. About 3 different waiters and waitresses came to check on us. Prices were decent and the menu had the typical breakfast items and some unique omelettes, but I noticed there were no waffles. Just pancakes and French toast. I got the eggs, bacon and hash browns. It came with toast with your choice of bread. The serving portions were huge! We also got the french toast with fruit on top. Very good and also a huge portion. A great place for breakfast in the Reno area in Midtown. They also have delicious looking sandwiches and burgers for lunch.

4.5 diamonds. A-freaking-dorable. It lived up to all my expectations. It is a quaint, and unassuming place with quality, not gussied food. The inside is beautiful, I want to live there, even with the set up the way it is. I met a friend around 10:30 one morning, but was feeling very lunch-y, luckily they were already serving lunch! So many things looks good, but I went with the Chicken Cordon Bleu salad for $ 9.99, it was spring mix topped with prosciutto(If it is on the menu, I am eating it), grilled chicken and bleu cheese. My friend who had just gotten back from a Sweden trip chose the muesli and fruit for $ 4.25. I have never heard of it, but it reminds me of a mix of trail mix with loose granola, you get regular or almond milk with it too, so I think it becomes a bit like gourmet oatmeal. It was a simple day, and our server graciously let us chat a bit(a while) before we could take a break to even look at the menu, the food around us looked so appetizing as it was being dropped off, huge bowls of salad, a big filling sandwich, a gigantic breakfast platter… The prices are great, and the food is good. It isn’t mind blowing, but its just a small breakfast brunch place that does a few things, but does them really well. You basically get to eat at home, without paying restaurant prices, all while getting out of the house and clean up ;)

This is the cutest little quaint breakfast house I have ever been to. The employees are soo kind! Not to mention the prices are beyond reasonable. My boyfriend and I came to Reno to get away from the world and just relax. This was a perfect way to start our day. I will definitely be coming back here when I come back to Reno!

The Little House on Center Street is a picturesque place to have breakfast. It really looks like a house that was nicely converted to a restaurant so you have the home cookin’ feeling. The food is pretty good, large portions and good quality. The pancakes are fluffy and quite large, like one pancake is sufficient. The omelet is good with meat and cheese. The service is very friendly and cheery.

You know, I have been wanting to go back to this quaint spot since my first visit — that is a REALLY good sign. Breakfast is my FAVORITE meal of the day, and breakfast foods are generally what I crave regardless of which meal it is. My favorite food? PANCAKES. I know, right? A foodie, a culinary graduate, an obsessive baker — in love with pancakes, of all things. Well, it’s true, and it’s damn hard to find a basic pancake that is up to standard. Little House on Center St makes me smile and hasn’t left my mind when thinking of breakfast because they have delicious, sweet cream type pancakes. A lot of restaurants make giant batches of this weird, oily pancake ~ooze batter that has a lingering flavor of burnt canola-oil-butter-flavor blend, with very little of any other flavor. You’ll be lucky if you get a hint of buttermilk or vanilla most of the time. Here? A bit of vanilla, sweetness(that isn’t overwhelming at all) that reminds me of using powdered sugar instead of granulated sugar, and a buttery goodness that is in perfect balance on the palate. I almost ate all of manfriend’s pancakes, and they didn’t need butter OR syrup to be delicious. The coffee was very enjoyable, too; not too bold, not over brewed, not a bright and acidic mild coffee(hate those). I know, I know, why even bother talking about coffee when it’s not specifically a place FOR coffee? …Because I don’t consider it a good breakfast without a proper cup of black coffee. The service was casual and just felt NATURALLY friendly. Not the overly cheery friendly type in some Reno breakfast spots, but it just kind of ~fit~ the feeling of the old little house. Natural. Cozy. Warm. Delicious. Welcoming. I’m going to return soon, and after a few more meals and pancake stacks, I wouldn’t be surprised when another review shows up with an update and a fifth star. I’m easy to please when you’re doing things right.

Stopped in here solo a few weeks ago, thinking I was going to have a light breakfast. I remember having to find a sign post across the street to lock my bike up to(which I just found out that in Reno it’s technically«illegal to use trees, sign or light posts» — ; looks like I’m going to be a scofflaw on that one…) since I didn’t see anywhere near the house itself. As the name implies, this is a converted house on Center. It’s got a nice fenced in yard that they had tables set up on, as well as a large patio on the south side of the building, covered with one of those large, fabric sail-like tarps you see everywhere now. Lots of outdoor seating, but since I was alone, I sidled up to the counter. The rest of the house is very open — walls have been taken down, lots of natural light coming in the windows, and the front door and large patio doors were wide open on the beautiful morning I stopped by. The counter seating looks straight into the open kitchen. I ordered the huevos rancheros and an orange juice, without really looking at the menu. I probably should have paid more attention, since the huevos are atypical — instead of being on corn tortillas, it’s on tortilla chips. My first thought when the dish came out was that this was basically breakfast nachos, and definitely not the light breakfast I had been hoping for. Some sliced avocado was served on the side, and there was a ramekin of sour cream as well as one of salsa. The salsa on the side was weak — seemed like something out of a can or bottle and reminded me of Pace. They asked if I wanted any hot sauce, and I said yes, and they brought out Cholula and Tapatio. .. score one for appropriate hot sauce choices! In any case, the nachos were decent — I mean, really, how can you screw up nachos? In this case, a good mix of of chorizo, beans, jalapenos, cheese, a fresh pico with onions, tomatoes, cilantro, etc and some poached eggs(yeah, I realize I stated I was expecting a traditional huevos on tortillas and should have expected fried egg in that case, but they asked how I wanted them, and being a yolk fan, I went with poached). So, while the food wasn’t quite what I expected, the menu does clearly state«fresh tortialla chips, frijoles, olives. .. » And to be clear, the food here isn’t the trendy, locally sourced, whatever is fresh etc type food. This is clearly food with ingredients coming from large scale distributors like Sysco or what not, but it’s well executed. They take common ingredients and combine them well. My first impression is a lighter version of Peg’s, with a much nicer atmosphere. The GF has been out of two for 10 weeks now, and this is one of the places I’m really excited to take her to when she moves back to Reno. .. seems like the perfect spot to bike to(minus the lack of a bike rack), grab a Sunday paper, and have a lazy breakfast/brunch inside or outside, and just enjoy a care-free morning. ..

So today we finally got around to having lunch or brunch at the little house. It was a gorgeous day and they have plenty of outside seating I was surprised at How Busy Ctr., Street could be on a Sunday afternoon. Staff did a great job they were very busy outside and a few tables inside but the service was excellent. The water glasses were never empty. The owner even came out and checked on the table to see how everything was I guess I would classify them as maybe diner type food. Our table ordered eggs Benedict and a seafood benedict and the hollandaise sauce was light, had great flavor and wasn’t oily. If you order the steak sandwich come hungry it was huge. My friend showed it to me it was cooked a perfect medium rare and she said it was tender and had great flavor. My husband ordered the California omelette. When it arrived he thought it had been made with a half-dozen eggs it was so large. I also liked the unique cut to the hashbrowns Most prices on the menu were $ 7-$ 10 range I look forward to going back and trying out their lunch menu. I saw some burgers and sandwiches that sounded really good

This is a beautiful little café. Located just one street over from busy Virginia Street Little House is really a cute remodeled little house. The service was fast and friendly. We were seated, ordered and received our food all in about 10 minutes. While the food looked fabulous the french toast is pretty average and on the not so sweet side. The Eggs Benedicts are one of their specialties but if you don’t like a lot of Lemon in your Hollandaise sauce don’t order one. I had the Salmon benedict and if was very good but I am not a fan of tart Hollandaise sauce. The hash browns however were amazing, crunchy on one side and tender on the other with just a strong fabulous potato flavor-YUM. I think if we go back I will order a giant plate of hash browns :) Prices are reasonable I believe french toast was $ 9 and most of the benedicts and omelets were $ 10.99. If you want to eat at nice quaint family owned joint, this is the place to go.

May 3, 2014 Saturday — breakfast 9:45AM 2 adults Atmosphere — 5 stars Food — 5 stars Service — 5 stars Background — Busy day and nothing in the house so we planned breakfast out and have been eyeing this place for some time. Atmosphere — A beautiful old house in the midtown area. Beautiful art hanging on the walls Food Drinks — Just water, my wife had coffee. Our drinks never went empty. Appetizer — none. My Main Course — I went with one of my classics, biscuits and gravy. It was just one fresh biscuit split and covered with the sausage gravy. It also came with two eggs, cooked to your liking and they nailed it for me. But you also get two strips of bacon, yum and two sausage patties. But the star of the show and a surprise was the hash browns. Each strip of potato had its own crispiness not the typical glob of crispy hash browns. They were so good, next time I am ordering a side. I recommend you do the same. Dessert — none for breakfast. Service — Welcomed when we entered. They were superfast with the food coming out of the kitchen. The menu is simple so I do not think we spent much time looking at it but I think that was the longest part of our visit. Future — I could order that meal again.

The food here is good. You may not like it but it’s good. The coffee is strong and tasty. You get a decent shake for your buck. I’ve been here several times and the only thing that I can say I didn’t care for was the is the huevos rancheros. They were tasty enough but not my cup of tea. Too many tortilla chips. That aside, the service is decent to fantastic. I have yet to try this place for lunch but fully expect it to be great. Server of choice… Esmerelda
