Came here after seeing the«big deal» sign outside the casino. You get a glass of wine, an appy, a NY steak and a dessert for $ 13. It was too cheap to pass up. So here’s the deal on that: Wine: had the merlot, pretty good, might be 2 buck chuck but still good Appy: had the salad, but also tried the soup and they were truly excellent Steak: I don’t really like NY steaks to begin with, wasn’t truly cooked to medium rare and a bit fatty but not a total disaster Dessert: delicious All in all, a pretty great deal. My boyfriend had the $ 20 filet mignon. He was pretty happy with it. It was a good cut of meat, melted in your mouth the way it should but it wasn’t cooked to perfection as medium-rare should be. The service was good and not slow at all. It’s tough for non steak places(and even some genuine steakhouses) to get medium rare right. You might want to go with rare and risk undercooked if you come here. Other than that, was pleasantly surprised.

Copper Ledge is inside the Cal Neva. Too bad it is no longer quite as cheap and we had to argue with the waiter… As part of my Reno on the cheap with an emphasis on prime rib dinners for under $ 10, I had to try this place, considering the huge sign on their building and ad on their website that has been showing this: Reno’s best kept secret! Pound for Pound — best BET in town Enjoy one of our delicious one pound meals including Prime Rib, Jumbo Coconut Shrimp or New York Steak plus choice of salad or soup, fresh vegetables and baked potato for only $ 9.95 Unfortunately, even though I just copied and pasted that from their website today(almost a week later) [UPDATE2⁄22 — website now correct & looks like more choices for $ 12.95] and saw their big colorful ad on the building on the way in, prepare to argue with your waiter if you want that deal. Even then, you can get the price, but you will not get the Pound for Pound meal but a smaller cut. Now, don’t get me wrong, even the $ 12 or so they want is not a bad price for even a smaller prime rib dinner, but having to argue with the waiter was no fun. When we tried to order it, if he’d have just said out of the gate that while they did not have that, he could give us slightly less but still honoring the price, I would have been fine. Instead, we had to show ourselves for the cheap asses that we are and argue with him that the sign is still on the building in order to get him to even make us the offer he did. Minus one star for needing to argue with the waiter when he has the power to make it right but doesn’t do so right away. Minus another star because the service was dreadfully slow, even before the argument. That ain’t good, even if the meal is cheap. But, when the meal came out, I have to say, it was actually a really very good prime rib(my man got the NY steak and loved it, too). We debated while there how many stars I’d give it when I Unilocaled and decided that only 3.5 would be fair considering the bad experiences but the food being good enough to significantly raise the stars. Since 3.5 isn’t an option and since the ad is still everywhere even a week later, I’m going with 3 stars. Next year I’ll probably give it another try, and if it’s still around $ 12 and the service is better and there are no arguments, maybe I’ll add a star.
