Portions here are very small. The waiters are great here and friendly. Not the best place in Reno to get high quality steak dinner.

Came here for an early Father’s Day dinner. Not inexpensive but easily one of the best meals in Reno. Oysters Rockefeller were huge and tasty. Split the 44 oz Porterhouse and it was more than enough for two. Patrick was an excellent waiter, attentive without being intrusive. Definitely going to return. You ought to go too.

Based on the food and service, I would definitely be giving a five star rating. It’s very pricey because everything is charged a la carte. I have eaten at 5 star restaurants that weren’t as pricey. Not a deal breaker, I will definitely be going back, just not very often.

You pay for an experience but you’re lucky to get a utensils. First things first: the steak is by far the best in the city. The steak is not only flavorful but extremely soft and cuts like butter. The hand cut fries are superb and seasoned to perfection. You can taste the expertise in their béarnaise. Matter of fact is that the food is a must, we have never been disappointed. With that being said… The service was horrific!!! We were never certain as to who our server was until he dropped off the bill. Intermittently we sat for periods of time waiting. Waiting for our beverages, waiting for a refill, waiting for the bread, waiting for someone to take our order, waiting for the side items after we’d received our steaks, waiting for the béarnaise, waiting for steak knives after, again, we had already received our steaks. The theme tonight was ‘patience.‘ Baby made reservations quite a while back for my birthday and we have both been looking forward to this since. The first time we ate here was incredible. What happened? I felt like I was a bother. I got my hair and makeup done for my birthday dinner. I’ve been doubling up socks and stretching out my new Louboutins for this dinner. Long story short: I was incredibly disappointed. We didn’t order dessert because, let’s be honest, no one has that type of time. Simply put we were over overlooked. It was terribly upsetting birthday dinner.

Nothing disappoints me more than to go to an expensive restaurant and find out that I can cook better food at home. On arrival, we were 10 minutes early for our reservation and the opening of the dining room. We sat and waited. Got seated in the back with a view of the dining area. Our waitress was attentive, but confused? Like she was not sure of our order or if we were done ordering… It was weird, but she was nice. It was early and everyone was a little over attentive. We ordered salads and I got the bone marrow as well. The hubby was hoping they served a rye whiskey he likes and only serve in hotels, but they did not. So he went ahead and got a drink anyways. We’ve been feeling meh all day, so I skipped on the drinks and stuck to water. The salad I had was good. It was the petite salad. A little overdressed, but good. Hubby’s wedge salad was tasty, but the bacon was not crumbled on top. Just a strip of bacon you had to crumble yourself. The bone marrow was HUGE! I thought I was going to get half the amount served, but it was really good. Probably the best part of the meal. We love bread, but their bread assortment was kinda bland. The brioche was the tastiest, but we did not eat it all like we normally would. We both got ribeyes. I got the Cabernet veal reduction. He got the peppercorn cream sauce. I choose a side of cream spinach. He picked the truffled twice baked potatoe. When we got our steaks and sauces, they had mistakenly brought out the bernaise sauce. Thank god they did because that peppercorn sauce was NASTY! It had a real medicinal eucalyptus Vicks vapor rub taste to it. The cab veal reduction was the best of the three, but it was missing some unctuousness, like mushrooms and mustard or something. The steaks we had were not good cuts of ribeye. Like they were cuts from the tail end. Very grisly and sinewy. I usually like that kind of stuff, but not at $ 49 a steak! The eye of my ribeye was medium and the fatty cap portion ended up more medium rare. I always get my steaks medium rare. Also, the steaks lacked salt and the taste really suffered from it. I hate salting my food at the table, but the steak needed it. I love the taste of salt cooked on a good seared piece of beef. I was pretty disappointed, but I ate it. The creamed spinach was good. The hubby liked his potato, but I did not. Truffle oil is disgusting. Sadly, we did not get dessert. I wanted to get their peanut butter dessert, but was too full for that. The waitress did however came over with a couple of warm oatmeal raisin and chocolate chip cookies, 4 little bourbon flavored chocolate truffles and some lemon poppy seed loaves to take home. That was the second best thing about dinner! Loved the cookie and the truffle. Just enough to cleanse my palate of meat. All in all, the food was ok. Service was great. We probably won’t be coming back any time soon though. Maybe if we hit some jackpot while gambling. Well, even then I’d rather go to our favorite grocery store to pick up a couple prime steaks and cook them at home.

Food was delicious and service was great. I think that I have found my favorite upscale restaurant in Reno!

This review is late as I visited this place when it first open, so your experience may differ. This place feels fancy and service is very nice and attentive. The down side is that, it’s PRICEY. I’m not cheap as I visit other steakhouses around town but for these prices, sides should be included… not separate. Also… this is a steakhouse. Do some plating. Don’t just throw a piece of meat on a plate and serve it to me… Seriously? I could do that at home and get away with it but if you’re charging me from $ 25-$ 40 dollars, you better add some color or something to make the steak look appetizing. I heard they got a new chef, so I’ll have to check this place out again and see if they improved from last time.

Had dinner here on a Thursday with my girlfriend. We were seated quickly and given menus, the extensive wine list, and a selection of breads. Because of the delicious bread assortment we decided to skip appetizers and just start with our entrees. I ordered the ribeye with a side of asparagus and some potatoes au gratin. The girlfriend had a scallops dish with pork belly. My ribeye was cooked properly, but was sinewy and had a few tough spots. The potatoes were delicious! The asparagus was ok, the menu claimed it had a Dijon butter, but neither of us detected any Dijon. The scallops were also delicious, and perfectly cooked. The pork belly was tasty but small. For dessert I ordered the peanut butter cup bar. This dessert is amazing! If you like peanut butter, you need to order this! This place is on the pricy side relative to food quality and portion size, but it was a nice dinner out that we both enjoyed.

French onion soup for $ 9 was excellent. Also had the twice baked potato for $ 8. Note it is just half a potato, still it was very good. Corn bread and sourdough bread come with any meal. We were staying at the hotel so they gave us tea cakes to go. Finished with cream brûlée for $ 8, 3 different flavors, it was excellent. For less cost than an entrée that won’t include any sides I managed to have a filling meal.

This was the first time we were there for dinner. It was already 8PM and we were hungry so we didn’t want to wait for a table(up to 30 minutes) so we decided to have dinner at the bar. I expected the menu to be on the pricey side… everything ala carte. However, I was surprised that even their CP Steak Sauce was $ 4 extra. All the other sauces from bernaise to a wine reduction sauce were also $ 4+ per serving. I also thought their side dishes which ran from $ 6 to $ 12 were very small servings… served in what looked like 3″ square dishes. Most of the steak houses I’ve been to around town(Sterling’s & Tamarack Junction) served side dishes that can be shared by two or more. This being said, my steak was cooked to perfection and the side that we did order… creamed spinach, potatoes au gratin, mushrooms & carmelized onion and the wine reduction sauce were all excellent. We were never offered a bread basket and when we asked if there was a special of the day, our waiter/bartender did not know, but he quietly said something to another waiter/bartender and turned around and said there was no special of the day. Other than that, I felt that our service was okay. not great. I’ve often felt, and this time was no different, that single women at a bar just are received as warmly as men or very young pretty young girls. I should like to say to those servers that older and senior women are better tippers, especially if the service is good. Just saying! Although, when we were leaving, I took part of my steak home for a sandwich and the waiter did without asking, wrap up a couple of rolls for my home sandwich. Unfortunately, that’s when I realized we were never offered any bread at all. My steak sandwich was great… Will I go back. Absolutely, their happy hour is great and their food is great. But for that kind of money, I’m going to go where I am treated warmly — weather I choose to sit at the bar or at a table. I’ll try a table next time to compare. On the whole, this is a «must try» restaurant.

Really good steak and deserts. The onion soup is amazing, not only the taste but presentation! Almost like what I would call an onion soup pot pie, covered with a flakey croissant like pastry.

Staying at the GSR for spring break with the kids. Got a reservation same day on a Saturday night on a Holiday Weekend for a party of 7… thumbs up! We had high expectations of mouth watering steak, but it was the extra’s that really made it special. When we sat down they brought a complimentary order of fries with ketchup and ketchup/mayo sauces just to keep the kiddo’s happy while we ordered. The cocktails and two bread baskets were placed on the table efficiently, with salted butter. One of the breads were wheat rolls on a skillet. Then at the end they sent us home with bags of house made caramel corn(with nuts). Here is the verdict: Appetizers — French Onion soup — served hot en croute, but only 3 stars Caesar salad — heavy on the parmesan, light on the romaine — 3 stars Foie Gras — nice serving size, served on toast and roasted pear — 4 stars Entrée’s — Sea Bass — served with clams, moist — 4 stars Ribeye — knocked out of the ball park — 5 stars Sides — brussel sprouts — small serving, too mushy, over steamed — 2 stars asparagus side — had cream sauce — 2 stars they steamed some broccoli off the menu for us — 5 stars of appreciation we passed on dessert

The bread was hot and tasty but the crab was the highlight of the night so juicy drizzled that baby in lemon and dipped her in butter

It’s a chain steak house but it’s good. I love the piano player in the bar area. I’ve never actual sat in the restaurant… WHY? Monday — Friday Happy Hour 5−630PM — Everything is FIVEBUCKS! BEEFSLIDERS — house brioche /roasted tomato /iceberg /ketchup /chipotle aioli BACONWRAPPEDDATES — point reyes blue cheese, local honey GRILLEDCHORIZO — roasted red pepper salad, grilled sourdough bread BBQPORKRIBBLETTES — sriracha bbq sauce LOBSTERSTUFFEDDEVILEDEGGS — basil pesto aioli, smoked paprika Go with a group order a few of each or go by yourself and order one of each(hold the dates for me) and call it dinner! The good: Great wine, beer & cocktail list It’s a bit posh so if you want to dress up go for it but it’s in GSR so anything goes! Gals at the hostess desk are always welcoming and friendly. Did I mention the HAPPYHOUR! GSR comps can be used for food & drink The no so good: The full menu is NOTCHEAP! Steakhouse pricing It’s in GSR so you might get a bunch of «over served» convention attendees seated next you. So you have two options: #1 make new friends or #2 ask to be moved. Bartenders are usually slammed so it takes some sign language to get a second drink! Only open for dinner! I’m rallying for them to open for lunch at least one day a week! For sure I’ll be back!

It had been a long time since I had returned to Charlie’s. I met a group of friends there for dinner and the staff all the way through the night was perfect and did a great job. We started with the Alaskan King Crab leg appetizer, 3 very log legs shave of the shell on the side with drawn butter, the meat was chilled and very firm. Entrée my choice was the rack of lamb, only 4 bones, but very meaty and moist. Paired with the giant grilled asparagus black pepper and sea salt a great match. Dessert was the chocolate mouse cake very rich and lightly whipped. I will not wait as long to return, Charlie does it right a great evening!

We visited Charlie Palmer 1÷22÷16. We were celebrating another successful conference. We were lucky enough to have Angelina serving us. She has a true passion for her job and makes everything sound incredible. I had my mind set on the Venison, a favorite from childhood when my granddaddy use to go hunting and bring it home for the family to share. However Angelina told us the specials, with one being a 7 oz filet with seared Foie Gras I thought I had changed my mind. Angelina, who knew of my love of Venison from an earlier conversation suggested that I add some Foie Gras to the Venison. What a suggestion! The Venison was cooked to a medium rare perfection sitting on a bed of parsnip purée with Brussels sprouts in a port wine reduction. The Foie Gras was placed on top. Everything just melted in my mouth. It went perfectly with the Rombauer Merlot shared with Tracy, Mandy and Valerie. A few of the other items ordered was the Salmon, the filet, the Bone in Ribeye and the spectacular French Onion soup topped with Puff Pastry and cheese instead of the normal piece of bread. I will be back… and soon!

I don’t like leaving less than 5 stars, but tonight was a sad case of complacency. My husband & I had worked very hard the last week and ½, & decided to treat ourselves. we usually go to Harrah’s Steakhouse, but it was too booked up for a last minute reservation. My 1st complaint-it took well over 10 minutes just to get water, while others who were sat after us were served immediately. We waited another 15 or so before the wine we ordered came. I can’t blame our sommelier, Matthew for that, as he was our high point! My 2nd complaint-our waiter was less attentive than I would expect in a ‘higher end’ Steakhouse. We were left for way too long, way too many times. I believe etiquette dictates you don’t pour your own wine, but I could be wrong. What a bummer. My 3rd complaint-If I have put my remaining food together & separate from all other food & dishes on the table… how do you NOT know or ASK if I would like it wrapped up??? I don’t eat a lot at one sitting, so I always get a ‘to go bag’, but to assume to throw away the rest of my filet and side was a huge misstep! Boo! Our waiter was apologetic & rectified it well, & graciously. I will give him the benefiit of the doubt, seeing as how it’s Christmas Eve & he’s probably tired & busy! Going back home to Harrah’s next time… unless we have wine with Matt!

After having a not so good experience before we thought we would give them a try again… so glad we did! Hubby and I had a night without the teenager so we opted for a romantic dinner at Charlie Palmer… jackpot! Our server Albert was the epitome of what servers should aspire to be! From appetizers to desserts his recommendations were on point! Started with The prawns… they were HUGE! So fresh and meaty they were the perfect appetizer to share. For dinner we split the 20 oz steak and a huge king crab leg. Sides were puréed Yukon potatoes and creamed spinach. Everything was cooked to perfection with perfect temperatures and seasonings. We finished the evening with cheesecake! Usually cheesecake is dense but theirs was so light and fluffy. Beautifully topped with white chocolate flakes and a mint purée, would lived to have a picture but it didn’t last long enough. All of the staff were friendly and attentive and they were busy so it was impressive. We spent about an hour and a half just enjoying the experience. Definitely one of our top five dinners in Reno!

This is a solid 4 star steakhouse. I had a perfectly cooked strip with seared foie gras and garlic. The service was on point as was the ambiance. Neat little steak house in the casino.

Great dinner and service. We came here a couple of times for our dates and they are always great on service and food. Last time the mushrooms were to salty and we had to send it back, they gave us a new mushroom dish right away. Always very hospitable. Heard they had a pretty good happy hour too. Will have to come back and try it.
