I love stopping at Root Gourmet for lunch when I’m in Rehoboth. The food is fresh, healthy, and not much more expensive than stuff you can pick up at fast casual chains.

Salads are fresh, tasty, and just have dynamite ingredients. We had the veg-a-rama and the kitchen sink. Both were healthy great tasting choices at Root. Will definitely come again.

I am so lucky I spotted Root Gourmet from the main road. As soon as me and my mom walked in we knew it was going to be delicious. I’m vegan and she is gluten free, but they had options for both of us! I got the veggie delight wrap which was great — he stuffed it with kale and a quinoa salad which had beets, corn, tomatoes and more! It was sweet and satisfying. My mom got the curry chicken on a gluten free wrap(which they offer for all sandwiches) and she loved it. Our favorite part was the watermelon gazpacho which was creamy and absolutely to die for(vegan and gluten free)! My mom also got their peach iced tea and it was great. In the café their are samples of specialty olive oils and balsamic vinegars — we also bought one of those; all were tasty. Overall I would say it is a great lunch place in Rehobeth featuring a great atmosphere, friendly staff, and healthy options. Food is fresh and well made!

Excellent for lunch– can’t wait to try it for dinner. Highly recommend the roasted veg sandwich. Grilled to perfection with olive tapenade and goat cheese. Friendly staff.

Food was OK and they have GF option which I very much appreciated. I was a little miffed that their homemade GF bread was $ 7 for a dry brick. That said I wouldn’t rule it out in a pinch as heathy options in Rehoboth beach are pretty limited.

I wish you were closer to home! We were looking for healthier options around the area and stumbled upon this thanks to Unilocal.I love that it’s not just prepared food but also healthy snacks, oils, sauces, and dips among a few other things that they sell. After you order your food you can try the oils and snacks. I had the shrimp salad on bed of greens and the bf had the pork special sandwich. We both enjoyed our meals. We even indulged ourselves with a basil/peach cheesecake. It was national cheesecake day so we just had to. It was delicious and i’m very picky about cheesecake. You guys should open up shop in south jersey or philly, please!

My boyfriend(now fiancé, yay!) and I went here on a mini vacation to Rehobeth, and this was the highlight of our trip. This place is the cutest, freshest, most delicious place in the town. Boyfriend, I mean fiancé got the crab and shrimp salad sandwich, which was omggggggggg to die for. Amazingly fresh shrimp and ingredients including celery, red onion, tarragon, arugula for $ 12.50. It was heaven in between two pieces of fresh bread. Heaven inside of heaven. I was being fickle and wanted a salad. The very nice guy behind the counter suggested I make my own salad with golden quinoa. again, omgggggggggggggg. So good I bought a to-go sized portion for later. A definite must if you’re visiting(or living) in Rehobeth!

This is my new beach favorite! Decorated adorably, clean and inviting. The coffee is excellent. Very important to coffee drinkers! Sandwiches, salads made to order and specialty of both! So many choices and many, many sides. I had the Cobb salad with homemade buttermilk dressing with all the regular ingredients, chicken, bacon, avocado, black beans, blue cheese, but better. Curried chicken sandwich was also excellent. Desserts include homemade cookies, breads, pies, etc. awesome !!! The prices were very reasonable – everything was $ 10 range for lunch. Definitely a place to come back to!

I have eaten there twice since they opened. SO happy that there is a place like this in Rehoboth, because there is a market here for a more upscale sandwich shop. Whoever designed the interior and exterior should be proud: it is BEAUTIFUL. Bonus that it is not downtown so you do not have to worry about the hassles of parking, esp during the busy summer months. SERVICE: It could use some fine tuning. A little chaotic when you first walk in and are at the counter, attempting to figure out what you want to order and looking at what is on display. No organization with the line management and the employees do not help to mitigate the problem. I am sure that, with time, they will pull this together. BUT… the sandwiches and sides I have ordered were both delicious… and the house made tortilla chips they make and serve with the sandwich are the bomb. Look forward to going back…

The wife and I had so much hope for this place. We walked in the door couldn’t get past the employee standing in the middle of the walk way talking to three gentlemen and the four other people waiting at the counter talking to one of the cooks. While it is very nice inside the place, it is poorly laid out with zero Air Conditioning. It was at least a hundred degrees outside and about two hundred inside. We turned around and walked out. Sorry Roots you lost us at the door. Literally.

This place is great! It’s hard to find real, fresh, and tasty food in the area, seems like most options fall under typical«beach food» in Rehoboth. The veggie panini was particularly awesome! Root Gourmet offers affordable hand-crafted foods from side dishes to complete meals. You can do take-out(to the beach) or eat at the café(outdoor patio option too) They apparently do a big catering service, which could be sweet for those that live closer and throw parties.

Was really excited when we first went in at all the fresh food. Started noticing that they had no vegan options really for sandwiches, very little maybe one or two for vegetarian. We ordered a flatbread and a panini, both were dry and ridiculously bland. We left most of the bread. The veggies had no flavor at all. It surprised me to get a flatbread with basil, tomato and goat cheese and it be so bland, after all these flavors go together quite well. The basil actually had no flavor! The tomatoes had little juice and the goat cheese was over cooked so it dried the flat out even more. The prices are way to high for the lack of taste. The quality of the food seemed decent, however $ 7 for a non-organic honey dew… no thanks. Hopefully once they’re open longer they’ll learn how to marry flavors better and bake bread that isn’t so dry!

Delicious fresh gourmet food. You can eat in or take out. Roots Gourmet just opened a week ago. Pastry chef on site. It reminds me of Dean and Deluca in DC. You will love it. The best.
