This long time Rehoboth standard is buried in the nicest of several side alleys off the main street. Certainly, the crepes can be called delicious, and they offer a few other breakfast options. However, their menu options are limited, not much in the way of animal free protein. The banana chocolate crêpe I had was tasty, though the chocolate and banana weren’t warmed with it. As others have noted, speed is clearly not a priority here. This probably isn’t a huge deal since you are presumably here on vacation, but it does seem like they could do better.

Amazing crepes! Get there early, the line grows fast and it takes a while to make the crepes so you will be waiting a while and there aren’t many places to sit

Loved everything about this place besides the wait, but good things take time! Hubby and I ordered the Ham and Cheese, the Smoked Salmon, egg, cheese, chive and a Bannana and Nutella. All 3 were to die for. The cheese was wonderfully salty, the crêpe chewy(even softer for the savory crêpe over the sweet) and while we doubted we could eat 3 when we started, we made some room in the tummy. They’re a little on the pricey side, so have your cash handy.

Amazing crepes, have been here several times. As others have mentioned the line can be long, with a wait 30 – 45 minutes… but well worth it. They have a take out window only with a few outdoor tables. You might get nervous to see that all the tables are taken, but as people eat they will leave quickly. Crêpe can be shared but can eat a whole one with a good appetite. Favorites for dessert are the lemon and strawberry/Nutella/whipped cream… for savory the ham/egg/cheese/tomato. Hit or miss for the long line, sometimes you can come back and the line will be pretty short. Came around 10pm for dessert crepes and we waited about 10 minutes.

Really good crepes made with the authentic French tools. Light and spongy, sweet or savory. I prefer the banana Nutella whipped cream crêpe. But know ahead of time it’s cash only and line is long! Always a great sign and worth the wait.

I’ve been coming to Café Papillon for as long as I can remember, and it never disappoints. Located down Penny Lane and reminiscent of a quaint French outdoor café, you will not find a better crêpe in the state. The wait can be long, so come early when the sun is down or be prepared to bake in the summer! The service has been great every time — mostly foreign employees but they seem to take pride in what they do and understand English; everyone has been pleasant. The crêpe prices generally range from $ 5 – 8, but without a doubt, they’re worth the premium! I’ve been a customer for many years and plan to keep it that way for years to come.

Incredible crepes, apathetic service. I have visited this establishment about 7 – 8 times over the last several years, and my experience has been fairly constant. While the crepes are top notch(seriously the best I’ve ever had), the exchange-student work force is extremely slow, and seemingly uncaring to customer satisfaction. It is not rare to see one lone employee making crepes for a line of several hungry customers, while other employees sit around doing nothing. This is absolutely a must see attraction along Rehoboth Avenue, but be prepared to wait if you visit during peak tourist hours.

I loved the crepes, especially the strawberry, Nutella and whipped cream. The ham, egg, cheese and tomatoes were very good and savory too. I would definitely return. Just a small cute café and creperie in Pennywalk lane.

Couldn’t be happier to have stumbled upon this place! Always come for their crepes it’s so awesome watching them make the crêpe in the window. The fruit is always perfect — our favorite is the banana, Nutella, and whipped cream combination!

Coffee was good, not great, and not very hot… the crepes which you have to order separately in a different line(yes u read that right, separate line for coffee and crepes) were very tasty however bring your wallet because they cost as much as a sit down breakfast at a restaurant… in the end if your craving crepes you won’t be disappointed

This is food worth waiting for! I say that because there is almost always a line. I recommend the banana, nutella, and whip cream crêpes and chai tea. The ham and cheese croissants are amazing as well. Crêpes are made by hand in front of you.

From the food to the quaint presentation, Café Papillon is an essential alternative to the hustle and bustle of Rehoboth’s Boardwalk food. I’ll be honest, I’m a huge fan of Nutella and their Nutella Banana Crêpe capped an excellent end to an excellent day at the beach. You get to watch your order cooked right under your nose as the scents of excellent pastries waft through the air. I usually grab ice cream at the end of the night, but Café Papillon was a fantastic and reasonable alternative.

We ordered a ham and cheese crêpe and a Nutella crêpe. Both were delicious, but I really liked the cheese they used in the ham and cheese crêpe, making it my favorite.

This place has been around as long as I can remember! Tucked into a small space in Penny Lane, Café Papillion serves up crepes to order filled/topped with a variety of selections. The Nutella and banana crêpe is one of my favorites. Since it has bananas it is a healthier dessert choice… Right?

It’s the perfect combination of tasty French pastries and the beach. Café papillon has now provided me a great experience of sitting on the beach with a hot tea and a stellar croissant. My favorites include the spinach and cheese croissant but not far behind to add a sweet tinge is the sweet crème croissant. I’ve now found a new tradition while at Rehoboth.

A little overrated but a solid French bakery/creperie. Crepes are mostly $ 7 – 8 and are a decent size and quality. I’d probably be more inclined to give them a higher rating if the crepes were a little cheaper. I tried a ham and cheese crêpe which was good. I enjoyed sitting at one of their outdoor patio seats in the morning and eating it. For seven bucks I’d rather get something a little more substantial than a slice of deli meat ham and some shredded cheese in a soft crêpe.

I had the ham and cheese crêpe and it was very good. Prices are reasonable, most crepes between $ 6 – 8. Many choices from sweet to savory. The staff is French, which provides a nice allure to the business. The croissant was good, but not as good as what you would find in Montréal or Paris. Overall a nice cute little window store inside Penny Lane Mall.

My family and I have been coming here every year for the past 10 years during our annual trip to Dewey Beach. This little French café is tucked away on Penny Lane, an adorable alleyway close to the end of Rehoboth Street, near the boardwalk. It’s housed in a pretty little building with two serving windows – one for the crepes and one for everything else. The employees are almost all French(the café offers jobs to young French people in the summertime) and they’re quite friendly. The food they offer is simple, but very French and absolutely delicious. Their crepes are perfectly made and can be filled with everything from Nutella and bananas to eggs and cheese – they’re perfect for breakfast or a late night snack. Their breads are to die for – the various croissants they make are flaky, buttery, and by far the best croissants I’ve ever been able to find stateside. They offer a variety of sandwiches served on your choice of a croissant or baguette and each sandwich comes with a little side of thinly sliced carrots, tomatoes, and cucumbers drizzled in a lovely, tangy dressing. My favorite sandwich is the fresh baked turkey and cheese on a croissant – the turkey is fresh and sliced to the perfect thickness(nothing like the junk you get from the deli at the grocery store) and they put mounds of shredded cheese on top(I believe they use Swiss or Gruyère cheese, or something similar). My mom and cousins always enjoyed the chicken salad and my grandma used to get the shrimp salad, and every loves the baguettes and croissants. I’ve had just about every croissant they offer and adore them all, and I’ve enjoyed many of their desserts, including their Napoleons and Opera cakes. They have a covered and uncovered seating area, so don’t worry about where to sit. They open early in the morning(8am) and are open late(10pm), but do be sure to come early in the day for the best selection of breads – they sell out very fast! They can do orders a day ahead – we’ve often ordered sandwiches on our last night in town and picked them up in the morning to have for lunch during the car ride home. If you’re looking for authentically French, delicious, affordable food, this is the place to go. I highly recommend this little café!
