Chef Sato, Patrick and the staff were the most friendly and generous any diner could hope for. Of course, the sushi was second to none. I wish them the best of luck in their future endeavors, hopefully finding a new location!

My go to local Sushi Restaurant for fast service and delicious cheap sushi. The sushi here is half price Monday — Wednesday, including specialty rolls. The basic rolls are delicious but my favorite roll by far is the sexy roll(Spicy tuna, asparagus, avocado topped w. tuna). For desert the green tea crème brûlée definitely is the best of all the options, a little sweet, a little bitter and just right. The service is always amazing, the waiters check on the table just the right amount and rarely are there any issues with my orders.

Come here for the 50% off sushi nights and you won’t be disappointed. They can sometimes take awhile to make, but you can’t rush good food!

If you are looking for high quality sushi Sato is the real deal. Always ask for their specials because I have tried some really good stuff here! The service is always attentive and their presentation is awesome! When they have the Uni(sea urchin) get it! I’ve never had it not be super fresh and delicious. Their hot white roll is also a go to favorite. Another plus to Sato is that they have a parking lot, which is always nice when trying to park near Queens Blvd.

I don’t understand why it’s only 3.5 star here. My friends are regular here and they highly recommend us about this place. We had omakase and it’s amazing. Great quality sushi with reasonable price. Attentive and friendly staff. Although it’s little far from my house but it really worth the trip. Can’t wait to come back again!

The food: I had a sashimi dinner and a roll. The sashimi was fine, but nothing special, and the cuts of fish were minuscule compared to what is served at neighboring spots. I was not impressed. The price: the pricing is higher than average for be neighborhood. The ambiance is more upscale but the food did not warrant the higher price tab. The service: Slow. Sloppy. As we sat down the chopsticks(without covers) were laying on the table, not on a napkin. We were not offered water or tea(which is so basic). I would recommend one of the other many sushi joint in the area. Much better service and better fish for your money.

The imagination roll is amazing. Everything is super fresh and every time I order or eat there the food tastes exactly the same and is consistent. Ambience is very nice and they even have a private room.

Sato, Sato. A Japanese restaurant situated in Rego Park that if you never tried, you are missing something big. I’ve been coming to Sato for few years now, especially with my family in law, and we never were disappointed. This place is quiet charming, the staff is always fantastic so is the owner. You can see that Sato has passion and care for the food, quality of ingredients, plating, and taste of everything is coming out of this kitchen is just — top notch. I strongly recommend the spicy kayaki — broiled seafood with mushroom and crab appetizer — deliciousness. Sushi, sashimi, or anything you can take on this menu is just amazing. We wanted to thank all the team and Sato for always being on top of the game. I strongly recommend Sato to anyone that love Japanese food, is worth traveling.

Food is consistently good. Since prior reviews it’s true that service is not the same since Perlin left however, salmon sashimi is heaven. So service aside which is fine but average, the fish is always fresh and presented beautifully. We have been here several time since the prior debacle and while the prices are high for the neighborhood and while Bamboo Ya and Chikurin are better priced with good food, Sato’s ambiance cannot be beat.

I’ve been coming to Sato for years. Chef Sato’s sushi has always been good but it’s as if he’s been upping his game even more for the last two years or so. The fish he obtains is consistently delicious, and if you call him ahead of time you can ask him about special pieces – can’t get kohada(gizzard shad) anywhere? Neither can I. So the next time I know I’ll be going there over the weekend, I can call him to see if he can find any. He’s very friendly and accommodating in that way. He’s also consistently trying to innovate. Late last year, I had a smoked salmon dish that involved salmon sashimi, capers, a smoking gun, and a glass topper to keep the smoke in as the plate was served to me. As always, you want to be at the sushi bar. Sato and his right hand Sachi are great. But table service is fine too.

Love this place! Its been family favorite for years now. Service is always good, and nice clean place to eat. Sushi here is always fresh, and tasty. Also, really love the décor. Their fish tank in front is really something. Great place for a nice family dinner or date night. I usually always go for spicy tuna roll and chicken terriyaki never been disappointed yet, best terriyaki in the neighborbood. Other favorites are the kani and avacado salad. For dessert you gotta have tempura. Friendly tip they have 50% off of sushi mon-wed. Give this place a try you wont be disappointed.

Come here every year for valentines day, the service is always good so I don’t know why other reviews say that, you can ask any employee walking past your table to bring you something and they will, the food is typical Japanese sushi with some fancy stuff on the menu that I didn’t try but the salmon croquette is good the lamb ribs are cooked perfectly and recommend the lightly fried garlic shrimp, lava cake, and green tea crem brûlée

One thing that’s forefront in most Japanese restaurants is service. Whether you go to one of the best sushi places on earth or to a local izakaya, service is paramount. Even restaurants that aren’t Japanese owned tend to follow this rule. However, when it takes nearly 50 minutes to get a plate of noodles and two sushi rolls, it’s not just bad, it’s unacceptable. More so, this was on my wife’s birthday which trend what was a great day to one that finished on a downer. I’m not sure how they’re still in business with the number of non-authentic sushi restaurants in the area who all serve the same things. You would think that they could figure staffing out, especially around the holidays. Mondays and Tuesdays also seem to be their half off specials so I would say you would need more than 2 servers on the floor taking orders and answering the phone.

I had the Kumamoto Oysters which were really fresh, definitely could taste a variety of flavours that are melt in your mouth good. The added tobiko gave it an extra kick of texture. The Foie Gras was great, the sauce paired with it was what made the dish though. It’s not a bad sauce to mix with rice if you don’t mind a little sweetness! The salmon sashimi and other rolls were good. For dessert I had the green tea tiramisu and green tea ice cream. It was very moist and there was a delicate matcha flavor, although I’d prefer it to be a little stronger. The green tea ice cream is creamy as opposed to the more light flavour of some other green tea ice creams that I’ve had but it matches well with the tiramisu. Waiters are quite polite and helpful, although their service is a little slow. The décor shows a great deal of Japanese tradition(kendo uniform hung on the wall and the painted Japanese flag on a large canvas) as well as a personal family touches(trophies and little trinkets), much more unique than other Japanese restaurants. And for Christmas, they took the effort in hanging up lights. It’s easy to tell that the food and décor are done with attention to detail. I definitely recommend this place to anyone! :)

I am only review the apps and dessert which is why it’s only a 4 out of 5 stars. Each app had a distinguish taste and plated beautifully which is why I took all these pics. Since I did not place the order or looked at the menu much, I can’t specify what is what at this point. For dessert, we were recommended to get the house made green tea lava cake and green tea tiramisu. They were both delicious that I’m still thinking about it today. Both were not overly sweet or have an overpowering green tea taste! I will be coming back for to try their main courses at some point again and will update this review.

Sato japanese cuisine — hidden gem in rego park. Hard to believe that I haven’t noticed it after living there for two years. Will try omakase next time. Very humble exterior, but surprised how well interior is designed. Freshness 3.5/5(some specialty seafoods are really fresh. more common fish are just ok, but not obvious when order those with more chef’s processing/seasoning) Appearance 4⁄5 Taste 4.3÷5(the chefs are skillful and attentive to details) Service 4⁄5

Sato really stands out amongst the neighborhood Japanese cuisine joints. Family and I have been coming back for years now and the quality has stayed fairly consistent in all that time, which explains why they still have their doors open. They started a new special on Mondays through Wednesday nights that is 50% on all sushi. Ummm can I order page 6 please? The fish is fresh, the regular dishes food arent extremely impressive due to the lack of creativity, but that may be due to the«simple» clientele that just want the regular stuff. Chicken Teriyaki, Kani Salad, California Roll, …etc. What I truly love is the romantic ambiance of the place. It’s dimmed, personal booths, and truly sets a comfortable overall mood. They have a 100 gallon salt fish tank with corals and rare fish. Private room in the back for parties of 15+ diners. Rolls to try: Volcano = Awesome RR was very good Sexy Roll was sexy Imagination was tasty I recommend bringing a date and ton to try Out. Portions are generous and you will leave practically free out of pocket. I meat at 50% it comes out to $ 4 – 5 a Special Maki roll.

I could of sworn I had a 1 star update for this place after a horrendous night of service. Food — Sushi was great, sashimi wasn’t all there. They cut us some really cheap stuff. Dynamites(broiled scallops, crab meat on shell) are a bit overpriced. Service — Main reason for the 1 star is their service. For a table of 7 – 8 people, I expect better service since we’re paying more but instead we get the worse service in the house. Our soups, salads, noodle soup, dynamites, yachts, sushi rolls took forever to come out. They didn’t even serve us water or tea when we were seated. We had to ask them after 5 minutes because all of the waiters and waitresses seemed like they were duckin our table. The sushi rolls here are great but the time it takes for them to make and serve it, jesus… I felt like I was in Sato for almost 2 hours. My sister’s udon noodles came out last. It took them over an hour to serve us udon noodle soup! Dynamites took at least 45 minutes, yacht took an hour and I’m not exaggerating. Everybody at our table were getting real bored because we were running out of things to talk about. Verdict — In the future, I’m probably just going to order their sushi rolls to go. I can’t wait any longer for these people to serve us our food. Seriously, your service sucks.
