It might have been a rough day when I had been in there. Because the girl behind the counter was a little short with me. But the food is good and it’s worth a try. And hopefully the cashier has a better day next time I come in. But I will be back!

My wife and I are on a two week road trip through the western states and stopped in this cute donut shop. We walked in and were overwhelmed by the selection. My wife started with a breakfast croissant and moved on to a custard filled chocolate bar. I worked on a apple/walnut fritter that caused me to get a box of stuff to go. If your driving through this is a must stop.

Used to be great but over the last couple of years the prices have gone up and the quality has gone way down. Very sad… but it is what it is…

Anytime I drive through Reedsport I stop here and get a bigfoot donut. I grew up eating sweets from the sugar shack and have never been disappointed. I did have a friend come with me once and she got something other than a bigfoot and said it was just ok, but then after trying my donut, she made me go back and get one for her. Lesson to be learned, some things are better than others, but get the bigfoot donut and you won’t be disappointed as it’s quite possibly the best donut ever!

Food and donuts here are overrated. Most of the time the donuts are stale. It is not very clean inside either.

Definitely a higher priced donut but oooooooo-weeeeeeeeeeee was it good! We got the Bigfoot donut(half maple, half chocolate option) and a raspberry fritter. Both were clearly fresh and generous in size. Bigfoot had a generous amount of white filling and the fritter had a big dollop of raspberry jelly on top. The two together rang up to $ 6.50. Yea, ouch, but you’ve got to treat yourself once in a while, right? There were two bowls of samples– most likely the day-old items– but they still tasted tasty. Everything looked so good.

We were visiting a friend in this small little city and stumbled upon this place by accident and I was blown away by the friendly vibe. The cashier was incredibly polite and saw that I was really interested in their big pretzel doughnut(unfortunately, the last one was sold literally right before I got to the counter) so she offered me a sample of something very similar and it was incredible. They were out of croissants and we really wanted a dozen and she took that special order and we were able to pick them up in an hour. This place is truly a cute little hidden gem, we will certainly return next time we are in the area.

Once a year we make our way through Reedsport as part of a tribal event, and once a year we stop at The Sugar Shack for a doughnut. I anticipate it as eagerly as I do Christmas, or the day my tax return comes in the mail. This place is freaking amazing. I have to admit that the only thing I’ve eaten from here has been the«bigfoot» donut. What can I say, crypto zoology makes for delicious pastries. Of course they are a little oily, it’s a donut! Not Kale! The maple/chocolate ganche topping is bliss, the dough tender, and here’s the kicker… they fill them with REALWHIPPEDHEAVYCREAM. No yellow goop from an industrial can… just home made tasty, tasty goodness. Out of the thousand people she sees every year she always remembers me and is super cool. We chat while my husband becomes slowly hypnotized by a whirling coconut cream confection revolving in the pie case. You MUST stop here, anyone who gives this place less than five stars is crazy, and not in the«fun uncle who still drives a camaro» way. The bad crazy.

If you’re driving through Reedsport, don’t miss out on this little gem :) The Sugar Shack lived up to it’s reputation for really good freshly made donuts. I had an apple fritter, it had just the right amount of grease, you could tell the frying oil was very fresh! Nice pieces of apple, cinnamon spice and walnuts. We also tried the plain glazed. Everyone left happy :)

Always wanted to stop on our way to the dunes and now kicking ourselves for not stopping sooner!!! Just walking in my mouth was watering. My eyes couldn’t focus on one thing because there was SOMUCHGOODSTUFF everywhere! All of the pastries looked delicious, I seriously couldn’t make up my mind. Husband got the apple fritter and loved it. The icing on the cake(lol) was that the woman at the counter treated my son really special after finding out it was his birthday! We will seriously be back on every trip and maybe even on this one! This is a great little local business and I’ll definitely support them!

I have here several times and love love love their donuts. Yuuuuummmmmm Best ever Some people writing reviews are rude and no I don’t know anyone that works there. If you wait till the second before a business closes then you deserve to be rude to. We all have lives not just work

I happen to go around 5:40 pm and as I walked in a young girl said quick lock door! I was like wth? The older woman replied let’s wait til she leaves.(meaning me). I could tell I was not wanted there. So I quickly choose a few donuts. 7.00 dollors for a few donuts!!! And omg they were all stale! Hard and not fresh at all.

I have not been to the one in Reedsport, however, I went to the new one in Coos Bay for the first time the other day. I was disappointed because I went to buy a dozen doughnuts and was not informed that 90% of the ones I picked out were not included in their«dozen». We ended up paying $ 24 for a dozen doughnuts. Thats $ 2 a doughnut. Would not have gotten those kinds if we knew that they weren’t included in their dozen deal. They did not have any kind of filled doughnut, I figured their selection would be better since they are known for their doughnuts. The girl who took our order didn’t pay any attention to us she wouldnt even look at us when we were ordering. The doughnuts that we did get were alright, however its much cheeper just to go to safeway and get the good kinds for a decent price. I probably won’t be going back any time soon.

After just one bite, you will spend your life comparing donuts to the Sugar Shack and they will never measure up. Just crazy good donuts. The Big Foot, nutty cinnamon rolls, apple fritters, down to maple bars and glazed — all done to perfection. There is also a day old bread rack that I use to justify returning again and again. One of these days I will have to try the soup and sandwich lunch!

5 for donuts. This is a horrible place — only because I ate donuts there two times in one week ;) It’s always reassuring to see a place busy here, good sign that something they sell is good. I’ve yet to try anything else, but I will sure try, and add my 2 cents later. Yes, the donuts were the good kind — heavy and sweet. I don’t go in for this light and airy donut nonsense. At least if you have a real donut craving, you have a place to go that won’t disappoint and the craving is satisfied. I lie. I would totally eat donuts every day if I was closer to it. I’m telling myself I live very far away from it, which is also a lie. If you are cruising by on the 101 or 38 and need to stock up on carbs, I would totally say to hit this place up. And now I know where to tell people to go when I’m the only person out at 6−7am and they are desperately seeking donuts.

I think that most of the stuff these folks sell is not very good for you but it sure is good! Stopped in here today for my fix of a Maple Bar and Divinity Cookies– WHOA! Taste is the same over all the years that I have been stopping here. This place is a bit of a locals hang out and a real throwback. Place is clean and the folks friendly. When in Reedsport, stop at the shack and get your sugar fix(and pick up a few pounds and some divinity cookies!!).

Best donuts in Douglas County! I can’t really say anything about the rest of the food, other than don’t get the coffee unless you like bad coffee(which some people really do, but I am not one of them). By far, the reason to stop here(and all the locals do) is to get a pastry. I recommend the apple fritters or for a real guilty pleasure go for the Big Foot donut– a humongous bar donut with chocolate, maple, or both on top and whipped cream in the middle. It is oh-my-god good, trust me. You will frequently have to negotiate a full parking lot at Sugar Shack, the place is a little divey, and you are not getting in and out in just a minute or two. However, the employees are really nice and helpful with making choices, and there are tables and chairs to sit at and wait or to enjoy your purchases. Sugar Shack is a Douglas County original and a must visit if you are in the area. By the by, you can now also get sugar shack donuts at most 7 Eleven stores in the area(including Coos County locations), and according to the employee I spoke with at sugar shack, they are made and delivered there daily. Nice!
