Finally found our new favorite Chinese Restaurant! If I could give more than 5 stars I would! My husband and I were very sad when the owners of our favorite Chinese restaurant retired and sold their business. We have been on the lookout ever since for great Chinese food. The Spot Asian Kitchen by far exceeded what we were hoping for! The owners are attentive, really care about customer service and have a passion for what they do. And it shows. They also have an amazing chef in the back. We ordered a ton of food as we wanted to see what was best on the menu. We were not expecting to love EVERYTHING we ordered, but we sure did! We ordered the chicken pot stickers, sizzling rice soup, salt and pepper prawns, lemon chicken, chicken chow mein and chicken fried rice. All dishes were the best we’ve ever had and had so much flavor without being over salted. Portions were more than we expected and we had more than enough for a second dinner the next night. Definitely give this place a try, guaranteed you will love it. We will be back soon!

Pretty yummy! Got the Kun Pao Chicken with plain rice from the lunch menu. The rice blend is a nice touch. The sauce was a bit watery but the flavors were pleasant, and the mushrooms(maybe oyster?) were super yummy. Tasted better than I expected it to.

This place is so good! My boyfriend and I ate here for lunch. It was our first time, and it was a great experience. The food was great, and they give the best customer service! We will definitely be coming back to eat here!

Semi-casual and very clean Chinese restaurant located in an outdoor shopping plaza with ample parking. Interior was nicely and brightly lit with clean lines and plenty of booth tables along the two side walls, with several square/round tables in the center. It is a locally owned business and the owner(a nice, down-to-earth guy) was there when we had dinner so we got a chance to ask him about several menu items we were pondering. We ended up with the Spot Steak dish and Wonton dumpling soup. Steak was flavorful and moist(not chewy) and they give enough for 2 to share with a healthy portion of beef. The vegetables in that dish were not the typical onion/green pepper/mushroom stir-fry chinese combo… instead beef was sauteed with juicy king mushrooms and fresh green beans which was refreshing. Presentation was thoughtful and they didn’t skimp on meat and vegetables for the wonton soup either and the broth was solid. Price was reasonable and won’t break the bank, average plate was $ 10 to $ 15 for dinner. I will definitely come back when visiting the area to try their other dishes.

About time there is some decent Chinese food place in Redwood city! There is a mix of some classic Chinese dishes and some authentic Chinese dishes. Much better than the restaurant that they replaced! We will be back!

I’ve had lunch there three times: — General Chicken — Mongolian Beef — Sweet and Sour Pork All very mediocre(and I’m being nice). A Chinese restaurant at this location could clean up if they could offer quality food.

The Chow Mein was good and the Mongolian beef was tasty. Most important, they seem to have good management and care about customers. Thank you.

Thanks to the new ownership, the food here has been transformed to something quite delicious! Unlike many Chinese restaurants, the food is non greasy, and not overly salty/seasoned. The veggies are super fresh and not overly cooked and their quality of meat is higher than I anticipated. A great new addition to Nob hill plaza!

Went to check out the new neighborhood spot last night. I have lived in Redwood Shores for 12 years now and have seen this location be 3 or 4 different spots(all Asian). Some were good, some not so good. I do know this spot is off and popping at lunchtime, and deserted at night and on weekends. .curse of the suburbs, I guess. Anyway, we saw the great Unilocal reviews and decided to give it a try. I was pleasantly surprised. Everyone on staff was extremely friendly and attentive(maybe because it wasn’t busy??). We ordered a lot so we could try everything and take some home for the next day. The menu here us kind of limited compared to other Chinese places I have been too. They do the basics, but do them pretty well. Everything we git was piping hot and freshly cooked, so that is a definite plus. First up was the Hot and Sour soup. The«boat» it came in was no exaggeration. ITWASHUGE! But very tasty and we had lots to take home. One note though, it wasn’t really spicy. None of the«spicy» dishes we ordered were. Next time, I will ask for extra spicy. Anyway, next up were veggie potstickers. They were good, but nothing extraordinary or anything. There were 8 on the dish, which was a huge portion. Next up was bbq pork fried rice(quite tasty) and a pretty big portion. Next we got the walnut prawns. Pretty standard for this favorite dish of mine. We loved it and gobbled it up. Next was the garlic eggplant and tofu. Huge portion and they peeled the eggplant(plus!). The tofu would have been more firm, but it wasn’t bad. Wish this dish was a little bit spicier than it was. The last dish was my personal favorite. The«spot beef». This dish was awesome. It was organic, grass feed beef cubes that melted in my mouth. So tender! It also had mushrooms and string beans, two of my veggie favorites. So, overall, I was pleasantly surprised with this place. I will definitely be back.

Meh! There is no background noise here at all music. I don’t like listening to the kitchen conversations. I’m Chinese so can understand. To the food: restaurants are judged on how well they do standards. Kung pao, tofu veggies, chow fun dry. On the whole uninspiring too sweet Kung pao wifey found it a bit sour? Panda dumpling has more Chinese standard taste. Although the customer base is more western so understandable. Tofu veggies made for western vegetarians you can taste veggies but these are run of the mill costco quality Chow fun shrimp fresh and tasty, noodles one dimension not enough green onion. Slight crunch from sprouts. Mostly soy wish it were wet or we had the option. On a whole nice to have Chinese place in the plaza but not the type of place I’ll be a regular at.

I was not too impressed by this place. I went with the curry and I didn’t find it that flavorful. My colleague ordered the kung pow chicken and he wasn’t impressed. He felt that the dish was missing the POW! I feel the restuarant is a little overpriced for what it’s offering.

Truly abominable! They did everything wrong. Our huge hot & sour sour arrived(not too bad) and immediately brought the so-called sesame chicken. It was really sweet & sour(soggy) chicken. Next they brought the pork dish. But not the barbecued pork we ordered. It wasn’t even on the menu. We even had ti send the water back. It tastes foul! The tea(tepid) was 1 bag of tea that added no taste to the water. . Since there were only 6 other people there on a Saturday night there is ABSOLUTELY no excuse for this. Stay away!!! The will be gone soon anyway

We were looking for a closer alternative to Cooking Papa(also a fantastic Chinese restaurant) in the Redwood Shores area. This place is great! It is very clean and cozy. The service was really good and the food was delicious. We tried the lollipop chicken, the Spot steak, hot and sour soup and chow mein. Everything came out in a timely fashion and very tasty. It didn’t feel overly greasy and the portions were pretty huge. We will definitely be visiting this restaurant again and look forward to trying different dishes.

Only visible sign is on the door. That will change in the future but for now make sure you have the address 240. Sapporo beer hot tea. Hot & sour soup. Chicken potstickers. Entrees all very good. Try it you would like it !

As I said before, I like to venture out and get lost. This time I got lost and lucked upon a new restaurant called, The Spot Asian Kitchen. To thoroughly express the contentment brought on by the food and service at The Spot Asian Kitchen i’ll simply quote two Chinese Proverbs and with that, I STRONGLY recommend you… yes, you try The Spot Asian Kitchen asap! Chinese Proverb: «Trial often exhibits truly wonderful results.» English Translation: There is nothing like trying. In Short: The Spot Asian Kitchen is a new jem of a restaurant that gave it a go and has exhibited truly wonderful results. Chinese Proverb: «If you want happiness for a lifetime; help someone else.» English Translation: We are all obligated to help family, friends and acquaintances; however when you go out of the box and help somebody else(pay attention, this means you), the joy that you get is just limitless. In Short: Help me, Help you, Help me, Help you by supplying this review for your reading pleasure in hopes that you pay close attention to this recommendation. What are ya waiting for?! Grab family, friends, or perhaps total stranger and get going!

Got the call from the wife as I was getting out of the gym to pick up Chinese, so I dashed over to the closest one I knew in the area, Mission China, but when I entered the menu was different and was told that it was under new management. So, I was there, the food was there so why not give it a shot. First thing I noticed were that the prices were just a tad on the high side, but there was an explanation for that, they use only organic ingredients. Hmmm, ok, well let’s give you guys a try :) Got the the lemon chicken, spicy Mongolian beef, shrimp and snow peas, egg rolls and pot stickers. I know, there went the workout! When I got the order, the young lady at the counter insisted that she help me take the bags to my car… That was a nice touch. Everything was absolutely delicious! As a matter of fact I would say that this is going to be one of the top Chinese restaurants in the area. And if they deliver the same customer service that they gave me for a takeout order, rest assured they will be around for a while. And as for the pricing, Im now ok with it :) Good luck to the new management
