This place is great! The cocktails are delicious and you can tell the bartenders take great pride in their drinks. They had trivia last night and I think that’s a regular thing, is that right? I’d love to see the music and trivia events on their website, but I can’t find it. Thanks for a great bar!

Ok, so we went on a whim to try drinks Tonight. We will all absolutely be back. John is a credit to this place, friendly and does his job amazingly well. The drinks he made were fantastic and seriously he made amazing drinks. It’s a nice casual place with great summer drinks. Go there, you will be so happy.

I love this place!!! I’ve been there a couple times the last two weeks and I’m just in love. The bartenders(Dan and Neil) are awesome, also the guy(Jack) in the door is so nice. The cocktails and the service is excellent.

I don’t typically do bar reviews, since I rarely find them worthy of such attention. Blacksmith is interesting place. Amazing craft cocktails, delicious beers, cheese-it’s as the snack. Favorite drink of the night was«the foundry». Folk who know me know I like a strange Italian herbal booze made with artichokes called«cynar». There foundry has cynar, rum and egg white in it. Was a delicious herbal and pallet stimulating drink. Also the pisco sour was dangerously easy drinking and delicious. Was certainly a great date night with trivia(which we won!) And tasty drinks. Would certainly go there again.

Great cocktails. Friendly staff, and excellent music selection. I came here shortly after opening, so the place was not packed. I was promptly greeted, and the bartender recommended the Blacksmith Gimlet(Gin, St. Germaine, lime, and Basil) based on my taste. It was a hit, perfectly refreshing for a spring day. I ended with the Ancho margarita which included a chili liqueur. It was delicious. I’d definitely come back during busier times to check out the scene.

Ambiance is chill, drinks hit the spot every time and the bartenders… Well there is a reason it’s named Blacksmith. My girlfriend and I came out here for a girls night out and the drink prices aren’t ridiculously overpriced nor are they watered down. The Blacksmith overall attracts great people to their establishment. Weather it’s just yourself or a group of friends it’s a great spot!

This place opened up last year amidst all the craze for New American gastropubs. The décor here definitely fits that category. You have these big comfortable looking couches as soon as you come in, the bar stools are all nice, soft leather and the overall ambience here feels like a high end casual bar. But what is with the music here? When we came on a Saturday afternoon, there was just rap and hip hop blaring which did not mesh well with the rest of the place’s vibe. It gave me a headache but luckily they have an outdoor area, so we just moved outside. Drinks are highly priced, but they were running a special on Grapefruit sculpin when we came($ 4 for a pint? hell yeah!) so we got a good deal. I can see this place getting pretty packed on a Friday or Saturday night.

Finally a great bar in downtown Redwood City. Great selection of craft brews including the coveted Grapefruit Sculpin. Renowned spirits and competent bartenders to create the perfect classic cocktail or something new to perk you right up. John was our abartender while out and about for my buddies 50th birthday and did not disappoint. Great service and great atmosphere. Will definitely return. Thank you John! I frequently visit blacksmith. I work in the service industry and am very aware of the average joe that posts«I used to work in the service industry» to me me? Arrogance. Neil took care of my group tonight and provided, exceptional, and memorable service without a second thought. Thank you Neil and blacksmith for awarding us with a great night!

This place has a San Francisco feel to it. Cocktail are delicious and quite potent :) Dan and Ginnie are one of the best bar tenders in the bay. It gets a little too crowded on the weekends, but you won’t have to wait too long to get a drink.

I don’t have a lot of feedback for this place apart from the fact that they serve a good combination of the things that make bars these days successful and popular. Their old fashioneds are really fragrant and delicious(they caramelize the side of the orange garnish just before smearing it on the rim of the glass), and they have a number of good signature cocktails. They have about 5 craft beers on tap, and other bottles with a good selection of liquors. The décor is the dark glossy wood bar with marble countertops and exposed brick wall aesthetic we are all so familiar with complete with attractive and knowledgeable bartenders behind the bar(male & female). The music on a Friday or Saturday night is loud old & new hip hop/pop/dance mixed live by a DJ. I have to say that it’s an easy place to like. The clientele was varied but fitting mostly in the 28 – 40 range and appeared to be mostly single. I’ve only been the one time on a Friday night and I had three enjoyable cocktails. At the time of writing this post, the old fashioned cocktail was about $ 12.

I’m not a regular in this hood, but occasionally find myself scoping the local scene, more specifically the interesting food scene. This is not our parent’s RWC, it is evolving to fit the times, socially and economically. It appears that the heart of the downtown commerce area is going somewhat upscale. Not a dive bar to be found. Enter Blacksmith. Blacksmith is a bar. But a modern bar. It is not old by any means but they kinda make it look like it is. Lots of dark wood, not the polished steakhouse kind but the stable/barn kind. And ya know what, it works. It felt like the people here were vibing with the space. I like the large open window that you can sit in from either side. I like the proper drinks the tenders dish out. I don’t like the the $ 10 dolla call price, common its just a Jami n soda! *rolls eyes* It also appears that there is a woman’s touch to the décor, very artsy. Especially in the unisex restrooms. I actually felt like I was in a posh bed n breakfast restroom. So ladies good for you, but please don’t linger in there too long with your bff’s, some of us really need to take a leak, especially after a few drinks.

Dark & Stormy. My drink order? Or a girl I once dated? Not that you’d be wrong either way. However, in the end, only one of them left me with a bad taste in my mouth. And, by the four star rating, you can probably guess which. After our terrific dinner at La Viga, my friends and I decided to grab some drinks before calling it a night. As usual, we turned to Unilocal to find what was nearby, but we decided to make our pick using a method more scientific than just ratings: «what name sounds the best?». Well, you can’t go wrong with a place called, «The Blacksmith»! Walking in, I knew almost immediately that we had made a good choice(and that they named their restaurant well). On one level, they covered the basics — TV’s, friendly bartenders, lounge-ish styling, indoor/outdoor seating, and a bar full of alcohol. On another though, the little things pushed them over the top — the fireplace, the wooden accents, the stone bartop, the power strip under the bar(!!!), and, of course, the hammer and anvil. Of course, the most important thing, their drinks, didn’t disappoint. The menu has a nice mix of house cocktails, beyond all of the usual bar/beer staples, and my Dark & Stormy was fairly well made. The pour of rum was a little light, but it wasn’t the worst thing, in this instance, since I had to make the drive home. Plus, it was still pretty darn tasty! All in all, I could definitely see myself coming back again if/when I find myself around downtown Redwood City. In part, because I’m not familiar with alternatives in the area, but mostly, The Blacksmith seems like a pretty solid choice. Well, in name, anyways, but it certainly won’t leave a bad aftertaste in your mouth!

I really wanted to love this place; it had been on my bookmarked list for months and I finally made it for a date night. It was on the colder side of a RWC night so we opted for a drink inside. Atmosphere was ok, but I gather that it gets more interesting if you sit outside when it is nice and warm and the crowd is energetic. This evening it was very dark and calm inside and very uninteresting. Drink menu didn’t catch my eye and I wasn’t excited to order anything listed. I picked one that seemed interesting based on ingredients but it ended up just being ok. We ended up staying for one drink and moving on to another of the newly opened RWC restaurant/bars. I hope my next visit is a bit more interesting.

I truthfully thought that my BF was going to love this place. We were slightly disappointed. \ There has been so much growth in DTRWC and so many great new bars popping up recently. The staff here was kinda eh– the drink making seemed a little sloppy and the drinks, although interesting, weren’t what my boyfriend was expecting given the ingredients. Considering how many similar places there are to this going up in and around RWC we probably won’t be back but it’s always nice to have another option while waiting for a table at Vesta.

Tasty craft cocktails, exclusively EDM pumping through the speakers, fast bartenders– what more do you need? They have a small patio and some seating inside. I really enjoyed my second drink– the crucible. I’d come back just for that drink.

Strong drinks here! Great gimlets and old fashions! Park in the garage off of Jefferson, or if you’re lucky, VIP street parking in front of the bar

Well our experience here was great. Walked down from music on the square at around 7pm, it was a gorgeous evening. Judah was our bartender and he was super nice and friendly. We ordered moscow mules. They hold your ID when you order these because I guess people steal the cups lol. I just love the décor and the open bar area that looks out onto the sidewalk /street. We met one of the owners Shawna, she was super nice. And also the bartenders here are pretty hot — Ricky — hello just wow. And the bartenders made us feel very welcome on our first night there, giving us welcome hugs and everything. Drinks are slightly high priced but I would gladly come back again.
