My girlfriend and I used to think this was the best place for sushi you could go to. Everything was made to perfection and we went there o often that then sushi chef would remember us and what we liked there. When new management took over and changed everything, they changed their quality of food as well. Sushi didn’t seem as fresh and cut to the correct size either. It used to melt in your mouth. We took my girlfriends dad who was visiting from Japan to try it out and we were pretty dissapointed in how everything came out. We haven’t been back since. It is a nice sized place and the atmosphere is really nice there. Plenty of seating for tables but the bar is not that big. I never seen a rush there before so you shouldn’t have a problem if you prefer sitting at the bar.

Momoyama or whatever it was is now out of business(October 2008) due to overpriced average food. Now it is a NEW Japanese sushi restaurant…:Tokyo Blue. Service is still poor, but they are trying!

SUCKED… and now they’ve sold or changed names [Tokyo Blue]. Thought I’d be kind and try them AGAIN since moving to this side of town… BOY was I wrong they still SUCK and even more so!!! The fish was WET tasting, construction was going on while customers were eating and the worse part of it was when I for Mazoku [spelling ?] the guy looked at me as if I was from another planet… Dude, its flippin’ seaweed and if you were Japanese you would had known this. He said they don’t have that type of fish… I nearly fell off my chair… DUMBASS. So to say the least I will be sticking with Japanese Owned Sushi Bars as they tend to have the best fish and know whats what!

It’s now called Tokyo Blue Japanese Cuisine. Their grand opening was… yesterday! Ta da! Haha, I stopped in today, Sunday, late afternoon, after not having eaten so much as a crumb all day. I needed some seriously good food. I rarely eat Japanese food unless my son is around, in which case it’s often all we eat. My point is that I am no connoisseur like he is. But I do know what tempura is, and that sounded really good. I got the assorted shrimp tempura. There were nice tender & tasty shrimp and a combo of veggies… like sweet potato, broccoli(the best one of all), green pepper, onion(yum! there were 3 or 4 big sweet onion rings), eggplant I think, zucchini, carrot, and asparagus. This was a large portion, obviously. And delicious. I’m no connoisseur of Japanese food, but I know when something tastes so good that I eat too much… My dish also came with miso soup and an organic green salad. I do appreciate organic in a restaurant. Now all they need is brown rice, they only serve white so far. The soup was OK, the salad nothing to write home about, so the tempura was the standout. The menu included a lot of sushi, and there’s a sushi bar in the beautiful dining room(see photos). There also are private dining areas, a fountain, and a bar area. The hardwood floors look like Brazilian cherry, gorgeous. I love the thick pastel pink cloth napkins. This is a classy-looking place. Top off this elegant scene with hip hop background music! Haha, hilarious. The servers were young, the place was almost empty on Sunday afternoon… so it was party time, evidently. I loved it. Made me want to dance. The fountain in the middle of the dining room even has a little pond with a foot bridge. And my fave thing of all about the interior was the faux night sky over the water, complete with little star lights and shooting stars(or UFOs, haha?). Too cool. I’d enjoy a ceiling like that in my bedroom. The appetizer menu looked really good, and there’s a wine list. And even a kid’s menu. Lots of salads are offered, and weekday lunch specials for around $ 13. Tokyo Blue is located right next to the newish Ortega 120 restaurant, and they’re both lovely inside. I actually had a hard time choosing which one to visit today. My dinner cost 17 bucks, btw, not too bad for all that food. Park for free in the parking garage behind the restaurant. Enter via the driveway next to Ortega.

Sushi was OKAY. in-n-out roll was a little bit too tuna’ed out for me, and I love tuna. The gyoza potstickers were cooked such that they were all stuck to each other. Or maybe… we only ordered ONEGIANTGYOZA?!? The sashimi(saba, tamago, salmon) was very normal. We were the ONLY customers in the place at one point, and they still botched our order(forgot something we ordered) I feel bad for them though, since they were very nice about it, and were very attentive to our water/lemonade needs, and were friendly. However, it was a little too expensive for what we got. Note: I went for dinner

If I were rating for a dinner, I wouldn’t give 4 stars but their pre-fix lunch menu is pretty good. I ordered teriyaki salmon meal which comes with my choice of sushi, miso soup, a bowl of rice and salad for $ 20. It was tasty. For the price, décor, food and the service I say it deserves 4 stars. For dinner, that’s a different story.

Seeing the not-so-great Unilocal reviews I was inclined to stay away from this restaurant, but the friend I went with was convinced we had to have dinner here cause there was plenty of parking and we didn’t want to drive uh, like a mile up the street to another restaurant and the restaurant next door was closed for renovations. All I can say is that you should visit this restaurant if you love throwing money down the toilet. We were there around 6pm-ish and there were only two other customers in the entire restaurant with space for 150, and there were more employees hanging out than there were customers but the service was still shitty and slow. I tried some of the food mentioned here on Unilocal, like the jalapeño shrimp tempura roll, and oh man that was a waste of $ 14. The salad was way larger than the roll itself, and the roll was half cream cheese and half jalapeño pepper all fried together. Where was the shrimp?! And honestly, I’ve had my fair share of expensive Japanese food — think $ 200 dinners for two at geisha house in hollywood — but that food was actually edible, unlike here. Lastly, the menu was fairly boring and the food was generally overpriced. We ended up ordering like close to nothing(and getting close to no food) and eventually drove up the street to Japonica instead(much more satisfying and reasonable).

this place has some tuff competition, lots of good sushi places near by. but when it first opened it was not very good. we gave it another chance and it has been better lately. they do have a full menu with lots to choose from. it is also a little pricey. seems the more times we go back the better it gets. not always our first choice, but we do and will go back.

Wonderful atmosphere, beautifully decorated, friendly staff, great service. But why only a single star? The first time I went to this place, it has been open only for a few weeks. Aside from myself there were only one other couple in the entire establishment. This is normal until word of mouth starts bringing in customers. Then I tried their sushi dishes. Oh my gosh! I’m a sushi connoisseur and their sushi didn’t taste like anything I ever had in my entire life. Was this sushi from another planet? Did it come from another dimension? All I knew is that this stuff was not fit to be consumed by any human. Perhaps this was the reason why there were only 4 customers in a restaurant that seats over 100? Aside from the exorbitant prices, I don’t believe I will never patronize this establishment ever again. There are so many other well established delicious sushi restaurants in the South Bay to bother trying this place again.

Quality of the shell fish sushi was very good, but pricey. My favorite here is mirugai and scallops. They can also make an albacore salad for you(not on the menu, at least not the times I went there). No omakase, which is bad. When ordering oysters, make sure to let him know how many orders you want(not pieces). Each order comes with four pieces. Could be a running mistake, if you catch my drift. I personally have not tried any of the cooked food here, so cannot comment. Overall, Momoyama is a pleasant place — quiet with a nice décor. Plenty of parking in the building lot, which is always good. Will go back.

we walked in here on a rather dead saturday afternoon. the waitresses and staff were extremely amicable and fast. i think i got my water refilled like 6 times! they were pretty on top of things. we ordered this amazing roll called the jalapeño shrimp tempura roll. i recommend it hands down. it was soooo tasty. spicy at the end with some cream cheese in the middle to cool you down. it was perfect. my spicy tuna roll was also excellent. the fish was fresh and enjoyable. unfortunately, my boyfriend got the dragon roll and much to his chagrin found some eel bones left in it. not too happy about that, but they were pretty apologetic. i guess some rolls are hit and miss. i would give them 3.5 stars but i cant do the .5 yet :) atmosphere was pleasant and the place looks like it could do some good business for dinner. prices were also fair and nothing looked to extravagant. the place looks solid, i just guess we’ll stay away from the eel next time.

Dim lighting and water features enhance the atmosphere at this restaurant that invokes the feeling of being outside in a Japanese Garden. While it’s a tad on the pricey side, the ambiance is highly enjoyable and the sushi is divine. However!!! Stay away from the spicy tuna. It bites back! The service is also VERY slow. So, only go if you have time to enjoy your surroundings.
