M.A.D.E. I.T. R.I.G.H.T !! I was recently contacted by Max, who is Marina Sailing’s new Operations Manager. It took them over two years to contact us concerning the horrible experience our family had on one of their boats. They wanted to make it right and judging from the amount of useful comments the review received I’m sure there was financial impact and allows with their reputation being tarnished. However, they offered another boat rental, we turned it down asked for a refund of our boat rental. They sent my father-in-law a full refund for $ 430 and change for the half-day boat rental. It is not often a company goes back and cleans up the mess of their employees that provided the poor customer service to begin with, but they did and I’m impressed with Max’s effort to clean up their reputation. It is not easy to contact a bunch of upset customers not knowing if things will get worst or better, so my hat goes off to Max and Marina Sailing new policy. I’m giving this the 5 –stars above simply for the fact they contacted us and made things right with my family. I would recommend contacting Max if you had a less then 5-Star customer experience and I’m sure they will make it right for you.

Do not sign up for their membership. They have the worst customer service. They do not tell you honestly how they will charge you. They over-drafted our bank account, because they were dishonest about how they were going to charge us. Once you sign up, they tell you it’s possible to cancel your membership, but they will say they cannot do it. Instead they will tell you to email someone that will never ever get back to you.

I chartered Ellis Island 2 a few months ago for my family & brother to sail to Catalina this weekend. We used to do this as kids in the 70’s when my dad had a boat there. I sail out of Berkeley now, my brother is a rusty(old school) sailor. He’s not used to GPS& better boats. I read the reviews on here and have some comments of my own. The boat was clean & ready when we got there. He went over the checklist with me and showed me all the features of that particular boat(So much so that I didn’t do my own checklist). It was my first charter outside my own club @ OCSC in Berkeley. It was pricey, but I figure it was a really nice family adventure & we all had a great time. Got in and out of the slip & Catalina no problem. Only bummer was there was no way to get a mooring in advance and we had to anchor. Otherwise, we had a great experience! I would definitely recommend!

I had a great time taking some of my sailing lessons through marina sailing in MDR area. However, Marina Sailing charges you membership dues automatically every quarter without notifying you first. On top of it, I have not been able to get this«Chris» person to help me. Apparently she is the only person who can address the membership dues. Jd from RB Marina Sailing disclosed Chris’s email to me and it’s been 3 months since I initially wrote to them to ask for help with this. I have gotten NO response. The lack of help and continuous harassment with the dues must stop. Be careful with what you sign up for!!! And they offer you NO support or whatsoever once they have your money!

PLEASE!!! DONOTUSETHISCOMPANY!!! I CANNOTSTRESSHOWPOORTHEIRCUSTOMERSERVICEIS. I spent 6 days speaking to JD in this office to rent a boat for 4th of July and 2 days before they rented the boat out from under me. No apologies, no phone calls, no mention EVER of the«first come, first serve policy» Ted, faxed me a contract and I returned it in the evening. They rented it to someone else that morning!!! Chris, the owner, was rude, and had no explanation for why I was never told about the«policy» It is a ridiculous way to run a business. Right hand doesn’t know what the left is doing. It has ruined my plans for the 4th, caused expense for those who were traveling and left everyone in our party empty-handed. I have never written a review on Unilocal. First time. So believe me when I say, this was BAD business. Wendy K

My interest in sailing was first stoked by an introductory class that I took at USC. When I completed the course, I began a fairly extensive search for the best ASA certification program and sailing club in Southern California. After speaking with about 5 or 6, I decided that Marina Sailing was the place to go. I’m currently participating in their Complete Sailing Course, which has been a blast! I’m through a little more than half of the classes, and I already feel completely confident in my ability to captain a boat from the slip, out in the ocean, and back to port. The best part is that all of the instruction has been on water, so I have been able to develop both academic and practical understanding of sailing. Can’t wait to finish the program and make way to Catalina!

I have been working with all of the locations as a vendor for 7 – 8 years. I have referred a lot of my sailing friends including wannabe’s to Marina Sailing. The Sailing courses and the on sea training were above and beyond according to the 7or 8 frineds that have taken up or rekindled their sailing skills. The attention to detail is the hallmark of a company dedicated to service. It has been my pleasure to provide sales collateral that is fastidiously created based on high professional standards.
