This is my beloved hometown. Redondo Beach, along with sister cities Hermosa Beach and Manhattan Beach, have a laid back vibe. The people here are awesome, and it is a very family friendly place. The cities are clean, safe, and well run. The cops here do not joke around, and I’m glad for it. People will speak negatively about them, but I have never had a bad run in with the cops here. It’s simple really, don’t look suspicious or act stupid, and you’re fine. Redondo Beach has two main regions: North RB is bordered by Hermosa Beach and Manhattan Beach to the west, and Hawthorne to the north and east. South RB is bordered by the PV peninsula to the south, the ocean to the west, Torrance to the east, and Hermosa Beach to the north. The three beach cities feed the two high schools: Redondo Union and Mira Costa. The beach extends from the start of the PV peninsula to the RB pier. If you like to run on the sand like I do, it will make for a very good workout. Early evening and early mornings are best, as the days see quite a bit of people(especially on weekends and holidays). You might run into a few kids hanging out and smoking the green on a lifeguard tower at night, but cops crack down on that often. The beach is great to relax or enjoy a beach run. But surfing is best done in the OC, Manhattan Beach, or Malibu. Things to do: visit the Riviera Village, hang out at the beach, visit the RB pier. That’s all, folks. Enjoy RB, and keep it classy ;-)

I love this beach. I have been coming here since I was a kid. They just redid everything so I don’t know how someone can see it’s sinking. sure it gets busy and people don’t contribute to picking up there mess. But it’s not the beaches fault.

Great beach although it does get rather crowded near the pier. If you just keep on going a little further south you will be able to find a nice patch of beach to call your own. It seems like some of the other beach cities must have staff on seaweed cleanup patrol, cause you see a lot more seaweed on the beach here than elsewhere, and at times that does bring in the flies. I keep hoping they will renovate the pier, though a few new restaurants have arrived in recent years which is great! The Redondo Riviera is super cute with tons of restaurants and shops!

Generally pretty nice. But for some reason today the beach is NASTY! Not sure what the problem is here. Last week we were a few blocks south of Saphire st and the garbage cans had missing lids and the seagulls were pulling trash out. It was disgusting. As crazy as it was it was actually at Avenue C where one of the main lifeguard stations is located.

The waterfront is in desperate need of renovation. It’s dirty, old, and sinking into the sea. There are only a few stores on the boardwalk and they are touristy. I don’t see how locals would want to spend the weekend here unless they have a boat. The city itself has some charm and my favorite part of Redondo Beach is Riviera Village. Great hometown feel and walking distance from the beach. If you have a chance to go. Check out HT Grill for some great food and drinks — take a walk around the back and down a ways to the beach, and you have the opportunity to see a fantastic sunset. My next trip will be to Hermosa Beach. Great vibe, night life, and beach all in one. Sorry Redondo. Need to keep up.

It doesn’t get any better than this. I rented an apt. in South Redondo for 5 years and the beach, bike path, and pier are top notch. I often thought how lucky I was to live in a place that many people dream of vacationing to. I now live in North Redondo near Artesia and have been impressed by the quality of the restaurants here. There is a good mix of ethnic(Bamboo Thai, Al Hamra), seafood(Blue Salt, Baja California) and mom-and-pop breakfast places(Snax, Louis Burgers), among others. The schools are also top notch!
