It has a been a long time in between my first visit to Microsoft Café 37 and my visit today. Over 6 ½ years by my estimate. The reason for the time gap is that this café is not in my rotation of cafes that I regularly frequent as I work in a different part of campus. When I first visited this café circa 2008, this building was brand spanking new. Although this café is in Building 37, the location is actually near the original campus buildings(1 – 10). Not sure why this isn’t called Building 11 then. From what I recall from my first visit, it does not appear that any renovations to the café have happened in that time. This café seems small in terms of options compared with other renovated cafes nearby on campus. There is a burger/grill station, a coffee bar and Neapolitan pizza station to name a few options here. There is also a station with a rotation of cuisines from local vendors. On Tuesdays, it is Mexican food. Although the café food options are sparse, I have to say the dining area here is nicely designed and has aged well. I got a Neapolitan pizza for lunch. To order a pizza, you fill out the form which gives you a choice of crust and toppings or you can choose one of the specialty pizzas. I went with the Tandoori chicken pizza($ 6.30). Though the style is Neapolitan, the specialty pizzas here are different from the ones I find at Café H and at the RedWest Café. The specialty pizzas here are more like the ones you would expect to eat at California Pizza Kitchen as opposed to the ones at Tutta Bella. The pizza was fine, but I have to say I prefer the ones at the other cafes I mentioned which are more authentic. Café 37 is an okay option if I have a meeting nearby, but I much prefer the options at my regular cafes(112 and Café H) compared to this one.
