We stopped by for lunch yesterday. As always, staff was super friendly. We always bring a coupon and we just happened to decide at the last minute to stop so no coupon. I never even mentioned that and the kid behind the counter offered up an extra coupon they had. Saved us about $ 4. Also, it was a hot day and they offered us to go cups for our drinks instead of the stay and dine cups. If you want great fish and chips this is the place to go. They have never let us down even at their busiest times.

The tables were all sticky and the food was so dry I couldn’t even eat it. When it arrived to our table it was just a plate with a peice of fish on it and nothing else. the potato came when we were almost done with our meal. Really disappointed.

Cute place to go for some fried fish and chips. The service is great and the food comes out fast. They have daily specials and you can substitute coleslaw and the fries with a lot of options. I got fried zucchini, fish, clam chowder, dole fruit cup and drink for a little over 11.00. I had left overs and fried I reps. There are 8 deep fried oreos and they are delicious and chocolatey.

I’ve been a customer since before I actually lived in Redding. If you want great traditional battered fish and chips, look no further! They have other seafood but I only get the fish and chips. As other reviews will tell you, their shtick is that you get an extra piece with all orders. You get two pieces with a one piece order, three pieces with a two piece order, etc. Oh, and their tartar sauce is the bomb too!

We have been to this place several times & I thought we had reviewed it, but I couldn’t find it on Unilocal.Anyway, this is the first place we now go to if we’re only in Redding for one meal. Last night the fish & chicken were even better than we had during previous visits — we were there after the big dinner rush, so maybe that explains it. I highly recommend the Lighthouse! Go south on Churn Creek to Hartnell & turn left, it’s about a half-block east on the right.

I’ve had a lot of Fish & Chips and this rates with some of my favorite. A two piece order looks almost like a four piece. Photo attached of the two piece. The place is clean and has a large seating area. I never would have expected this is interior California so far from the coast. My review is based on the fish and chips, since that’s all I’ve had. Oh and for those of you that can’t put your mobile devices down, there’s free wifi. Not the fastest, but adequate.

Feels like the price went up. 2 piece fish and chips with a bowl and cup of soup and two sodas came to $ 27 dollars. Very long wait at lunch and dinner times. Many people waiting for food at their tables. 20 minute wait at least so don’t came starving hungry! The food is really good but seems like the oil it’s cooked in is old.

My family and I have been to the Lighthouse many times. Food and service has always been good, price is also very good. Portions are large and hot, no place else in town for fish and chips as far as we are concerned.

Normally the food is very good and quick service but I guess it was an off night tonight. I called and ordered a one piece fish and chips half zucchini they said be here in 10 to 15 minutes. I showed up 15 minutes later and they told me my food wasn’t ready yet so I waited another 35 minutes before they got it out to me. The people that were at the counter when I showed up at the 15 minutes, got their larger meal before I got mine and when I did get mine it was cold. Just a little disappointed tonight.

We stopped by heading back to LA. Found this place on Unilocal.Excellent fish n chips! Is it healthy? Duh! It’s fried fish. What do you think? Really huge portions of food. Fried calamari, oysters, cod.etc.chips are those crinkle cut type. I personally like those. Friendly enough folks that work here. Environment is nothing fancy but it’s clean. Seems like a local establishment. Come here for some quick grub. This is my last holiday-vacation yahoo until I go back home to LA and eat super healthy again It was worth it!

Customer service is great! Ordered a two piece fish and popcorn shrimp. Instead, they gave me an extra fish at no cost;) Staff are very friendly and approachable. Whenever I’m in the area again, I’ll be sure to stop here.

I haven’t eaten here in years, now I remember why. It’s just o.k. Very decent fish and chips… oh except the chips are welfare mother’s frozen crinkle fries. The clam chowder was very dissapointing… must be milk added Sysco… it has to be. Seriously, a huge clam chowder improvement would make such a difference to this place. Hey owner… have some Clam chowder shipped over for tasting from the Eatery in Trinidad… that’s what I’m talking about! Cole slaw had a lot of vinegar… o.k. though. Stick to the fish and they allow you to change the chips(fries) to another side for small fee I think…

Recently I was searching for a good seafood restaurant & decided to try out«The Lighthouse.» I absolutely loved«Buzz’s» seafood restaurant before the owner sold it. It was bought by «R & R Meats,» which is a store that sells high-quality meats & seafood, too. I like to cook but sometimes just want to eat at a good restaurant. Based on prior reviews that I read about it, I took my whole family(6 of us) to «The Lighthouse» with expectations of tasty seafood, However, what I found was shocking. OK, the fish & coleslaw were just«OK,» but it went downhill from there. Their onion rings were burnt & inedible. The scallops, clam strips, popcorn shrimp, french fries, tatar tots & mozzarella cheese sticks were overcooked & then either too dry or greasy. Finally, we love clam chowder, but this one had a thick«gravy» & almost no potatoes or clams. And it tasted sweet, like it had sugar in it. But the SERVICE was the worst part of our dining experience. A tall, very handsome black man smiled at us & took our order. My husband & I made the mistake of whispering to each other about if we should use cash or a credit card. My husband told me we might have enough cash but he needed it to pay some neighbor kids for. We turned to the man who rang up our order & handed him a credit card. Well, the man got an angry look on his face & said, «Can’t you just use cash? Our credit card machine is acting up & almost never works.» My husband said to please try to run the credit card through the machine, anyway. The man refused to take our credit card & scowled & said, «Why can’t you just give me the cash?» My surprised husband told him that we need to use the credit card. Then the cashier argued with us! He said«The card ain’t gonna work & all those kids are gonna be hungry!» My husband calmly put his credit card on the counter, slid it close to the cashier & told him to at least TRY to use the(credit card) machine. Well, the angry-looking guy snatched up the card & slid it through the machine. It worked perfectly, with no problems at all. I told him Thank you, but he looked even madder, wouldn’t look at me & said it would take at least 30 minutes. He also shoved six regular glasses to us(NOT«to go» glasses) even though our order was«to go» & we did not order anything to drink. The cashier cocked his head toward the soda machine(which also has water), & he stomped over to the kitchen. We thought that maybe he felt bad for acting rude & wanted us to have drinks while we waited. I told the kids to just get water, in case that’s what he meant for us to get. There were no other people in the restaurant except for one couple, but they already had gotten their food & were eating. So I don’t know why it would 30 minutes, but we didn’t say anything. We all sat down. After about 10 minutes the cashier stomped over to our table &, still not looking at us he said, «I forgot to ring up the sodas so you have to give me $ 12.» He put his hand out, obviously expecting us to give him cash. My oldest son piped up & told him that we all were drinking WATER. And I was a bit embarrassed because then my son said that we never buy sodas at restaurants because they cost too much.(That’s true.) The cashier looked upset! He just turned his back on us & quickly walked away. We saw that he was cooking our food & only 10 more minutes later, someone else brought the two big bags of food to us. My husband thinks the employee may have been trying to skim money off the top & that if we had paid with cash, he probably would keep the cash for himself. He wanted to call the Police & report him. But I said we had no proof of what his intentions were so couldn’t do that. Instead of going to the Police, we’ll just never, ever go back to «The Lighthouse.» That’s OK. What we were given tasted pretty bad, anyway.

Like Long John Silvers on crack! My mom said you can’t even compare it to LJS. All I have had was the 2pc fish and 2pc chicken. Let me start off by saying I’m not a fan of fish. But, the fish at the Lighthouse is on another level. I could eat this at least once a week. They always give you an extra piece. And if you are a fat kid like me or you just like sweets. Get the fried oreos. Been there about 5 times now and the food has never let me down and no problems with the service.
