Having eaten at this location and the original in Santa Barbara, I have to say, they did a great job of duplicating the atmosphere, food preparation and everything else. This is a new favorite place for me to eat, and the prices weren’t bad at all. My double Char Burger was delicious and just the right size. The veggies were fresh, and the meat was cooked thoroughly but still juicy. I would definitely recommend this place to anyone who likes burgers.

Always good food! Friendly and constantly good. Outdoor dining with heaters. It can be quite packed though.

Really great chicken sandwich on sour dough bread. Fun, casual atmosphere. Will go again.

I love the food here and we’ve always had good service but the reason I’m giving it 3 stars is because there is never anywhere to sit! Especially if it’s cold/rainy and the outdoor seating isn’t an option. A lot of times we will chose not to go there if it looks to busy because there is nothing worse than standing there with a tray full of hot food with nowhere to eat it. So we just move on to somewhere else.

Stopped in the Redding location in late January of 2016. My first time in The Habit(thanks Unilocal) and it was every bit as good as promised. I’m a HUGE In-N-Out fan and it hurts me a bit to say this… but I think the Habit has a better burger. Now if they would just wise up and not have only one register open when there is a line of 5 people… they might really have a great business model. Making me wait 10 minutes behind only TWO people was rather ridiculous. Note to management: ALWAYSHAVEBOTHREGISTERSOPENIFPEOPLEAREWAITINGINLINE. Otherwise it was very tasty.

The service is good so that’s a plus, and the burgers and fries are usually well made but tonight was an exception. The fries were spongy and soggy, barely fried at all and the burgers were lackluster and just okay.

Excellent service. The manager«summers» was very great at taking our super picky order, and the food came out amazing. Highly recommend this place for a good burger.

Heard great things about this place and they are all true! This is a good place to have a quick bite to eat, but can be busy around lunch. Awesome veggie burger and tons of beef burger options. Really liked their onion rings! Way better than the In-and-Out Burger.

As far as the burgers go, I don’t understand what the raves are about. It’s a thin patty with a plain bun, nothing special. I got the double char, which was just two thin patties. The fries are similar to McD’s, so that’s a positive. My wife got the chicken salad, «Nothing to write home about.» I just don’t understand the appeal, I don’t remember anything unique whatsoever about the place.

Being originally from L.A. but living in Portland for the past twenty years, every time we mention we’re heading down I-5 to L.A. for a visit, we hear the same question from friends: «Oooohh…you going to hit all the In-n-Out’s?». No. We’re not. We’re actually not planning to hit any. For Portlanders, In-n-Out seems to represent the«Holy Grail» of cult classic burger shops. But I don’t know why. To me, the food there is very«average” — and finding Habit Burger has revived my opinions of what a real burger should be. Several years back, on our last trip down, we found Habit Burger here in Redding. I had the Seared Tuna sandwich(A sashimi-grade tuna steak – I remember it as being Ahi but it may be Albacore now) which was fantastic – I ordered it «still swimming rare» and they delivered. This time through town, I decided to beef it up with The Double Charburger, everything on it. Go big or go home. And home’s about 450 miles north at this point, so my only choice was«go big.» I went big. And loved every bite. Beef was perfectly seasoned, everything was fresh. Fries were crisp and perfect. For the hair under $ 9 it was exactly what a double burger meal should be. Family N. had a variety of burgers, all delivered exactly as ordered. Wife N’s burger with bacon and cheese(and for her, nothing else, because in her mind if it came from the dirt it doesn’t belong in her burger) was excellent. The tangy barbecue sauce was perfect and there was a crap-ton(metric, not Imperial) of the most lovely crisp bacon on it(I know… I stole a bite when she wasn’t looking). The only items that were average at best were the shakes. They were a little airy and light — I suspect cheap ice cream went into the shakey-machine. I’d suggest an upgrade there. But anything you’d chew was spot on and as good as we remembered it. Absolutely great. Oh, and we found there’s a Habit Burger a mile from where we’re staying in L.A. So we’ll probably hit that one again(yep, we were there last trip) as well. Keep up the awesome burgers, Habit! Pretty soon, YOU’LL be the cult-classic everyone up north has to come down here to get.

Popular, busy, very good. Grilled albacore tuna on sourdough was amazing, so tender. Tempura beans were great too. On my previous stop, had a burger and fries, also way above average.

Frequently eat at The Habit, outstanding value, fresh food, their managers seem to be obsessed with getting«it» right. Great food, great value. And they have whole wheat buns if you ask for them.

Love love this place! If you want a sort of quick bite to eat, go here. Prices are decent and food is great. Reason I gave one start off is that I really wish they would’ve made it at another location in a bigger building. There’s never anywhere to sit and sometimes we have had to stand and run to booths before others get them.

OMG! This visit to the Habit in Redding was the best ever! I’m a big fan of The Habit Burger chain. Living in the Bay Area, we have quite a few outlets. But this weekend, my BF and I are on our way to a weekend getaway out side of Red Bluff, and since we are in the area, a slight detour is in order to Redding Habit Burgers for lunch! I’ve been to this location before and it looks just like the rest of the stores, with a corner spot on a shopping center. The parking can be a bit tight as it shares the lot with Safeway. The interior is neat and modern. The outdoor seating area is filled when we arrive, wow popular place! The order line is actually not too bad. Our friendly cashier takes our order. We already know what we want, so no need to read the extensive menu above while we wait. Two Double Charburgers with cheese extra grilled onions(no charge) and an order of fries to share, plus a to go order of 2 more Double Charburgers to eat later this weekend. The cashier enters it all in and repeats the order at the end for accuracy. We get a buzzer thingy to let us know when the our order is up. So lucky for us, a booth by the window opens up! As we wait, I’m admiring the modern chic interior. Yes, this doesn’t even compete with In N Out, with their plasticy red and white interiors. Lots of pleasing wood and modern lighting makes for a more upscale interior at all the Habits. An employee walks the dining area, clearing trays and asking if customers need anything, like more napkins or even refills on their drinks! What fast food place does that! The buzzer goes off, food is ready! My BF brings back the tray of food. OM F’ing God! Look at the pile of those fries! Those things are piled higher than I’ve ever seen fries piled in a little paper tray! It’s not just us, all the fry orders are piled high! NO skimping on fries here to save a few cents! I love it! Yes, I am a fan of these perfectly fried golden brown morsels. Compared to In N Out fries, this blow them out of the water by a long ways! The burgers are presented piping hot in all their melty goodness as are the fries. Habit even has Malt Vinegar to go with the fries, just like fish and chips! That’s classy for a fast food joint! After food pics, I lift my hefty(like a In N Out Double Double on steroids!) Charburger to my lips and tongue the melty cheese and extra grilled onions flowing from the insides of tasty goodness, before opening wide and taking that first taste. Ahhh … eyes closed, I feel the delectable textures and tastes meld in my mouth and the charred flavor of the meat, … such and experience! Extra grill onions on the burger, that’s the ticket! Each patty is 3.2 oz. or 1⁄5 of a pound, so that double burger is almost ½ a pound!, just like a fancy $ 12.00 burger in a pub sports bar. But this was only $ 4.50!, plus fries you’re looking at just $ 6.50! Sorry no beer at Habit Burger though. People that think the meat is skimpy here don’t know what they’re talking about! If you’re reading this and you’re not even in Redding CA, go to your nearest Habit Burger, you’ll make a Habit of it! Forget Five Guy’s, I added up an order like I had at Habit for $ 7.00 inc tax, at Five Guys online ordering and got a total of almost $ 17.00! Are you kidding? Added it twice for a ½ lb. cheeseburger and fries, yup, $ 17 bucks! You make the choice! see pic.

YUMYUMYUM!!! Love the variety of options on the menu — if you don’t feel like a burger, grab a tri tip instead. The burgers were great and juicy, the fries were just so-so. There’s a competitor that doesn’t make as good of burgers, but the fries are better. It’s the menu and variety of options that adds uniqueness to this delicious burger joint! I had the Charburger with Cheese, but was wishing i had tried the tri tip for sure. I LOVED the crispy green beans… who would have though that fried green beans could be so good?! If you want a step up for your other burger options, give this place a go!

Frigging delicious. We drove 3 hrs round trip just to try it and I’d definitely do it again. I ordered the Santa Barbara and it ended up being my lunch AND dinner… Was just as good as left overs! The onion rings and milkshakes were great too. I really liked the heaters outside. This place is where the burgers of dreams are made… And they’re reasonably priced. Wooo hooo!
