Love going to Michaels with every change of the season to freshen up décor at our home, one of the perks is they often have massive sales! I wouldn’t spend full price on most of the items. There is often a 40% off coupon on the back of the reciept, encouraging return visits. Great place to get art and craft supplies, overall a very huge store so don’t be afraid to ask staff where something is! They are often busy, but helpful.

This Michaels location is magical! This one is much bigger than the one in my home town. My favorite aspect is the home décor and seasonal décor section. They usually have great sales going on and fun options. The only comment I have on the staff/service is that they’re somewhat absent! I never really see or talk to any employees, but that doesn’t bother me!

The thing that keeps me, as a multiple crafter coming back to Michaels, is that they have supplies for all my crafting needs. The one thing I wish I could say more positively is that the amount they have for some, such as soap and candle making, and for leather working, is very limited. However, the supplies in all other departments, the knowledge of their staff, and pure joy and delight in being there make it a favorite of mine. The best experience I ever had was probably when Amber in custom framing beautified a special piece of art for me to give to my wife for Valentine’s Day this year.

Michaels stores seem fairly standard, in terms of store layout and selections go, from place to place. The one here in Redding is no exception. While Michaels doesn’t specialize in fine art supplies to the degree that Dick Blick and Utrecht do(since Michaels also covers crafts), you can still find a great deal on fine arts supplies. For example, for about $ 60 I bought: a 14″ x 17″ mixed media pad with 60 sheets, a 25 piece all purpose brush set, a 36 piece pastel set, and an acrylic paint and palette set(about 4 fl oz of each of the 6 basic colors). As I’ve been buying and using art supplies for well over a decade, I know how expensive this pastime can get and I know a good deal when I see one. As for the service here at Michaels, the staff here doesn’t disappoint. A kindly staff member here went out of her way to show me that the Michaels hand-basket can be converted so that you can just drag it like luggage along the floor instead of carrying the weight of the supplies on your forearm. All in all, Michaels provides reliable, good service!

I like this place only to get items, but BEWARE of the framing department(except for Amber!) My father decided to have some rare, valuable rock posters framed and the lady who happened to be MANAGER of the store ruined by dry mounting them, for those who don’t know, is gluing sticky paper to the original poster, which will damage and devalue the living hell out of it. Frankly, he’s not happy about it. Any reputable framers would and should KNOWNOTTODRYMOUNTROCKPOSTERS!!!

Redding doesn’t have much in regards to crafty needs but this place suffices in a pinch. When looking for a project to keep the kids entertained this is a great place to get the supplies. It’s pretty much like every other Michaels I’ve been in, possibly a bit cleaner. The employees are friendly and I love the constant 40% off coupons I get each time I’m there. One bummer-no longer being able to use a coupon for books and magazines.
