Great lunch! I had Seared steak wrap, hubby had Jalapeño Chicken wrap. Both were large and well seasoned. French fries were good, onion rings so so. Very friendly waiter. Lots of stuff to look at. Bastrop County’s best kept secret.

Worst. Service. Ever. I arrived late to my friends birthday dinner, so when we arrived I ordered drinks and had a couple of questions about the steaks, our waiter was condescending and sarcastic answering me. The rest of the evening continued the same way, rude and condescending. At one point he told one of us to «sh» when we asked a question about our bill. The only part of this night that makes it the 1 star was the manager was very understanding about my complains and seemed to care.

Second time here tried to give it another chance. The good news is service, cold beer and good atmosphere and layout. The bad is the food and some prices. You guys better start paying attention or you will be closed down and it would be a doggone shame. Me and my wife came in one Saturday night and the bar area was pretty full but the resturant was ghostly empty… on a Saturday night ?. We both ordered the fish with french fries. It arrived with good portions but dark, dark brown on both our plates. They were severely over cooked and old nasty grease. Seemed like it was originally a nice crisply flaky batter but gosh you guys need to cook it properly. Fish had zero seasoning and no flavor other than the old grease. Service was good. I am semi-local and really would like to see this place make it. But $ 16 for a big greasy chicken fried steak is just plain nuts. Please just compare your costs and food quality to other other café or diner. That price is just plain nuts… and then $ 2.99 additional for a salad ??? Come on guys get it together. Please get some people or chefs that know how to cook and please look at your menu and adjust before its too late…

First time here and not impressed at all. We both had the 8oz sirloin and they were cooked the way we asked, however I think the chef spilled an entire can of pepper on our steaks. I also had the bacon and garlic mashed potatoes which had not even a hint of garlic and very little fake bacon bits. My husband had fries and they were good. He also got the cookie skillet with ice cream which was good. Our server was Jackie and she was awesome. It was nice seeing her she worked at another restaurant we still go to and did not know where she went. All in all meal was lousy service great and good dessert.

First of I had hears raving reveiws but my over all experience was terrible. Went there the otherday and I took my sister and her husband. The femal bartenders constantly were talking about cheating on their boyfriends with people at the bar. Not to mention the owner was talking about her divorce with her husband that she cheated on with the cook. Maybe if they wernt so drunk they would of noticed us sitting there instead of talking so loud! Food was gross, over cooked and slabs of butter on our steaks. Only thing decent was the garlic mashed potatoes. Drinks were watered down.

Had a delicious Cobb salad in this fascinating museum/restaurant. The service was excellent and ambience was delightful… Julian was our amiable, friendly server. Will return!

Having read the reviews as well as local folks raving about the place we decided we would try the breakfast. Drove the 10 miles and the place is closed during advertised hours.

First, food was delicious, but a bit pricy for the portion sizes & Velveeta. Service was lacking for us, but he was honest about the fruit having gone over. At no point was there more than 10 full tables while we were there. We had to ask for a glass of water 3x, and had to ask for refills on our teas each time. We were not offered dessert, which we found odd. We got better service from the guy who delivered our food. So, while the food was good, we won’t go out of our way to come back again… which sucks bc we were excited about having a good restaurant out here.

excellent! best restaurant in central tx! i had wedge salad and pork chop. the atmosphere was perfect for this type restaurant. we went on a friday not knowing we needed a reservation. it was unbelievably packed. so we ate in the bar area. waitstaff was on the ball. the only thing missing was a frozen margarita. i guess at saloons they don’t use blenders. highly recommend

This was one of the worst dining experiences I have had. The service was completely terrible, we waited over an hour to get our food. Once we received the food, some of it was cold, and the steaks were under seasoned, and were under or over cooked. One of our party members didn’t receive a drink refill once, even though everyone else did. I would not recommend this to anyone.

My wife and I have eaten here several times. The food has always been very good. We have had the chicken fried steak, strip steak and Sunday brunch(when they first opened). We have never had to wait to be seated. Our drink orders have always arrived quickly. The servers, at times have appeared awkward but that has improved significantly with time. It is certainly a great addition to «downtown» Red Rock. It can get pretty loud when full due to hardwood floors. We will definitely continue to keep this establishment on our list of restaurants to visit.

This place is great. The Texas Steak Rolls appetizer description«country style steak roll stuffed with bell peppers and black beans, deep fried and served with a Jalapeño ranch dipping sauce» was confusing. They are actually egg rolls with the unique stuffing. They were good, just not what I was expecting.

Meal was just okay. Sat for 10 minutes before our waitress even spoke to us. Steaks were both ordered well done. One was slightly pink and the other was cooked medium. Was not impressed with the steaks. Veges were better and iced tea was awesome! What I believe to be the manager did come and talk to us but at that point the dinner is ruined since main item wasn’t enjoyable.

We visited this place again… and I stand behind my original review. We went for lunch this time. My husband had the Friday lunch special. .Fish and chips and I ordered the grilled salmon. Both very good. My husband’s fish looked like it would be heavy but the batter was actually very light… not greasy at all. The fish was cooked perfectly, if anything it could use a little more seasoning(but that’s a personal preference). My husband mentioned that the fries would be great with a burger. My salmon was grilled very nicely and well seasoned. I had the collard greens and I was pretty impress. Mac and cheese were also good. Love that this is so close to our home!

Very cool place. If you like a old country type feel/atmosphere with great food and a friendly staff this is the place. It is tucked away in Red Rock but its worth the drive. The saloon drinks are just as tasty as the food. Lots of old memorabilia and hard wood floors makes you feel like you just stepped into the past. They are still under construction in the back for awesome summertime festivities! Come join the fun!

We waited an hour to be served. The chicken wing appetizer were extremely dry and tough. My BBQ ribs were very fatty and poor flavor. Another of our party had BBQ chicken that was too dry and tough to eat. The noise level was so loud we couldn’t speak with each other. Those who ordered steak were pleased. Overall an unpleasant experience.

We went to Red Rock Restaurant to celebrate my birthday. Heard it had an excellent steak. We arrived at 6:45 were seated right away. After a slow start, the staff kicked up the service and the remainder of the evening was awesome. The waitstaff all seem so awkward, but am confident they will only improve with time and more experience! Will be returning!

The décor and ambiance is really fun(antiques everywhere) even the bathrooms are adorable(and really clean). We went on a Friday evening. The service was impeccable. The women ordered steaks(the filet) and men ordered the ribs. The steaks were cooked to perfection(loved the added garlic butter on mine). The men ended up all taking boxes home for leftovers because there was simply too much food. Their prices are very reasonable. I have nothing but praise for this place. Highly reccomend

The ONLY thing keeping it from being 5-stars is that both of our steaks were a bit overcooked but we will definitely be back to reevaluate. Misty was our server/bartender(we are at the bar in the Saloon) and she is fabulous! When we went there was a 45 minute wait in the dining room and we grabbed the last two free seats in the saloon within minutes there were several people standing around the bar as well. The servers were all running 100 miles an hour trying to take care of the customers. The food tasted fresh and was well-seasoned, beers were cold and kept on coming. Literally the only thing I would change would be the cook the steaks. We will be back for sure and recommend you give them a try as well!
