Old Tymer’s Café

Old Tymers is good. The hostess and waiter were very friendly and did numerous checkbacks. I had the Chili cheese burger with potato salad. Very tasty and big. Others had the Friday Special of A.Y.C.E. catfish and they said it was pretty good. This time of year, Fall, it is not busy in Red River so we walked in and seated immediately. Two guys came in after 2pm and were told nicely that it was closing time. One of the waits went outside with them and pointed out two other places that were open and gave them directions.

Rarely have a left a restaurant angry. We arrived to a wait time of 45 minutes where the teenage host cared little for seating us despite saying our table is ready. Our waitress seem to be the only person there that was over the age of 21 and while she served us drinks regularly she’d forget my drink order halfway from the table to refilling it (repeatedly). We ordered the pizza and waited for over an hour. While my gf liked the pizza I thought it was okay at best. After over 2 hours we were looking to get out of there but the waitress wouldn’t ever come by again. So we went to the host to get our check and he asked our waitress (who immediately forgot the request) while he answered the phone from one of his buddies. About 10 mins later we finally got the check making the visit more than 2 hours of agony. I won’t be coming again.

Had to wait for 45 minute for a seat to breakfest but thats usually a norm these days in a resort town. Food was good. Staff was friendly. There is limited tables so expect to wait in line to be seated.

Good food. Good service. Nane is a great waitress. We will be back next time we are in town.

Waited 20 minutes at our table and never saw a waiter. We never were even served water. The table next to us received the wrong order. We left and no one ever spoke to us.

This is my favorite place north of Santa Fe to have a bacon burger. Take it from a local — their burgers hit the spot!
Sometimes the wait at lunch can be a bit much and their hours during off-​season aren’t great, but it’s worth it.

HUGE pancakes– very fluffy and so good you don’t even need any syrup. The hash browns where SO GOOD, as well as the crispy bacon. The biscuit very fluffy, and the egg so perfect!
They also saved my phone as I did forget it.

Whaaaaaattt??? The pancakes are huge!!! I ordered 2 ginormous blueberry ‘cakes with 2 sausage patties. The waitress looked at me, like «Are ya sure?» I said, «Sure, how big could they be?» Yeah, I barely made a dent. She threw a large pizza box on the table & said, «You might need this.» Lol
Also, «I warned you!» Sure…

Had breakfast here and is was OK. Eggs were a little greasy but was pretty good over all. They serve huge pancakes. If you order them my advice is don’t order a short stack! Service was fast and wait staff was excellent

We have been eating at OT for many years and have enjoyed good food and reasonable service. Unfortunately they have fallen off the path when it comes to service. On each of our last two visits we waited over an hour after placing our orders for our food to come out of the kitchen.
Bottom line is the food is good but be prepared to wait an unreasonable time to get it

We were hungry and breakfast choices were limited at 11:00 am. Wish we would have waited to go somewhere else. Biscuits and gravy were less than mediocre. Pancakes filled the whole plate but were burnt on one side. Coffee was hot but that’s about all u can say about it. I would suggest finding somewhere else to eat.

Ate there when we rolled into RR day after christmas… had the green chillie burger awesome… ate there every breakfast for four mornings… Happy.Happy.Happy…if you get the pancakes. get just one… it covers the plate. ginormus…in the morning never waited longer than 5 min. for a table… awesome breakfasts…

Great food, great atmosphere & great service! I had the chicken enchiladas Christmas style (topped with both red & green chile) and they were excellent! I’ve also had their quesadillas and they are equally great!

Waiter with an attitude, 4 available tables on the patio no one waiting and we had to wait till everyone was seated inside before we could have a patio table. You have to wait for the next in line he loudly admonished me! Food was good though and we ate there two other times with a waitress who sat us immediatly.

On our way out of town, we decided to stop here and eat breakfast. We had heard from friends that their pancakes, were bigger then my husbands head! If you know my husband then you know thats pretty big! :) The couple that we were with ordered coffee & mentioned it was the best coffee they had had all week in Red River. As we sat in front of the window where the food came out of the kitchen we could see the pancakes overflowing the plate… they were HUGE! Between my husband and I along with the other food that we had ordered, we were not able to even closely finish this one pancake. As we were eating our food, the table next to us asked for a «to go» box for their pancake & they brought out a pizza box. Next time we are in Red River, we will definitly be stopping by here for breakfast! They have really found their niche in this small town!

Food was decent, but why such an angry waitstaff? When the waitress makes you feel like she is doing you a favor by serving you, easy solution; don’t return. And I get that customers need to wait to be seated, the 20 or so signs you have posted in the entrance to this hole in the wall reiterating this fact, again makes folks think that you think you are doing them a favor by waiting on them. Me thinks not.

Buffalo chicken basket was disgusting, I’m not sure it was chicken.
HOWEVER, the pizza was AWESOME.
Kids reported burger was good too.
So, stay away from buffalo chicken and stick to pizza and burgers.

Walking in the hostess asked how many in our party. I replied 2 and she said, «ok.» I asked if she needed my name since there were about 20 people waiting for a table. Her reply,” No, I’ve been doing this for a long time.” Well, I guess she started when she was 10 years old and was now 16. We gave each other a nervous look and took a seat to wait. We were right, she came out a few minutes later asking people who was here first, etc. Then a 4 top was seated before the 6 top that was there before them, etc. MAKE A STUPID LIST, AHHHHH!!! Anyway, our wait was not too long. We followed th hostess back to the biggest table in the place, just the 2 of us. We then placd our order a breakfast enchilada for me, actually pretty good if you like a lot of cheese (I do). She got a breakfast tamale and a pancake. She ate the pancake. We got our food and had finished eating while two table that were seated and ordered before us did. We gave our extra pancake and out of the bag hashbrowns to one of the starving table. If you like greasy spoon, out of the bag hashbrowns and bad coffee this place is fine. I do not.
