We have an entire house to furnish and so have been to about 5 antique stores in the area. Hoffman’s is, hands down, the best. There’s SO much to browse through — chairs, dishes, tools, hardware, beds, dressers, really, everything. The prices are very reasonable, it’s organized well, it’s clean, and the people who work there are so incredibly nice and helpful. We bought some furniture and they not only delivered it to our house but went the extra length — it turns out a table we bought wouldn’t fit through our dining room door so they took the table apart, brought it in, and reassembled it. Holy cow! We weren’t even there to ask them to do it, they just did. They seem to really care about their customers. Seriously, shop there people. I can’t wait to go back!

If you want something, or need something, they will have it. If they don’t have it on your first visit, keep checking back — they’ll have it at some point. Great antique and used furniture, dishes, lamps, tools — you name it, they have it. Roger Hoffman is a good man and very knowledgable. David is also a good guy and knowledgable as well. I especially love going there in the winter when the wood stove is going. If you like antiques and old things in general — check it out.

Great place. One of my favorites in the area. Not sure what the previous poster was trying to say. There are hundreds of cool and well curated items for anyone who visits. Roger and crew are great. They delivered a 300 lb radiator to my house. It took four of them, but they got it in. It looks great. Hoffman’s is a must visit.

Mr. Hoffman tries so hard to emphasize that his business be number 1 in the area, but with such a small shop in the corner of nowhere, and with the fact that his products being so old and now smell musty, the only way to make himself be on the number one spot would be to get out of that small«house» and move into a real business place, clean up all of his inventory with a dust-rag and just overly convert to something better. His place is always old and outdated. I never seem to find much that I’m ever looking for there, but is a good place to stop off once a year and browse for a few minutes. You want antiques or oddball stuff, stop off here? He’s got odd things such as vinyl records, wall mirrors, many different rare collectable items, and even some Bard College yearbooks from yesteryear, it’s just an entertaining spot to keep in mind(if you pardon the appearance and smell of this musty place). Prices you’ll most likely pay are comparitive to many outside prices for these outdated items. You won’t find that bargain on most any item here-a signature of this place. Be ready to move the items yourself, as Hoffman’s Barn Sale won’t deliver your items. If you buy big items or items in bulk, consider renting a U-Haul from across the Hudson River and bring them home yourself. Definitely a big drawback for those antique-buyers needing to buy box-spring matresses in bulk or many furniture pieces. It’s overly amazing what you’ll find here, as I can’t stress that part of the fact, enough.

Roger Hoffman is a vital part of Red Hook and his shop is simply great. There are so many rare, hard-to-find and off the wall items at his antique store. I make an effort to stop by almost every week and I have to ask while you’re reading… You want vinyl records? You want wall mirrors? You want CD& DVDs? You want furniture? You want rare collectables? You want entertaining college yearbooks from the 1930s? Are you getting the hint? Make Hoffman’s Barn a stop on your GPS when you’re heading north on Route 9. How many businesses you know of with a great staff and outstanding ownership? That’s what I thought. Be Here Now.
