One of the best restaurants in town. Ever since its been under new ownership the quality of the food and service has really improved drastically. Hopefully people can give it another chance

Wanted to love this place but far from authentic Mexican food. Everything was terrible especially the guacamole. It literally was straight out of a package. Sad. Avoid this place and head over to uptown Kingston for food Mexican food.

Very disappointed. Watery salsa and food that tasted like it came out of a can or jar. I’m sure my chicken burrito was soggy because it was microwaved to heat it up and my husband’s enchiladas were no better than the frozen stuff one buys in grocery store. On the positive side our waitress was very nice and attentive. However, considering the overall meal we will not be back.

Not authentic Mexican food, very«Americanized». Been there twice, no interest in going back, go to Bubby’s burrito stand instead.

It truly saddens me to have come to the point where I no longer wish to eat at this restaurant. I really was excited when they opened and many times did my best to navigate through their menu, hoping to get one dish that was good. Initially the service was great, now it’s extremely disappointing. I personally do not find their food to be the best authentic Mexican cuisine. The salsa is watery and often their chips seem overcooked. The burritos are ordinary too. I’ve told the manager several times in the past my opinion of the salsa, each time I’ve been told that’s I’m the first one to say that… apparently not. Some of my friends have said the same when asked for feedback as well. Sometimes the service has been so horrendous, even when we have been one of only two tables filled throughout. Their margaritas have been good so far, guacamole has been good too, however not enough to make me return. It’s such a small community in our town of Red Hook and it would be highly beneficial to this restaurant to pay attention to what patrons are telling them, that’s if they want to stay in business.

I ate at Cancun’s two weeks ago– and it will be the last! As I feared there are times that no matter how bad the situation, it may just have to be something you suck up and hope doesn’t happen again. Pulling out a used, soiled bandaid from your mouth, that was inside your food is NEVER okay! But what’s even worse is when ownership/management literally laughs it off, gives you the bill, and says«Oh well it’s the first time this has happened, don’t know what you want me to say, good night!» And then referred me to the Internet to find out any additional information I was requesting. That latter response was probably more insulting than the disgust of chewing on a used bandaid. That I remained discreet and polite was a reaction that I had no idea was within me considering the panic that set in when I realized what I pulled out of my mouth. I know the importance of reaching owner/manager and how anything can happen but just as important is the trust we put on those who prepare our food. The response to a situation like this could have made all the difference. That response to me has no place in any town’s eateries.

Great addition to the town of red hook. Quality Mexican food, reasonably affordable. I ate chicken enchiladas and they were great. My family got a pitcher of margarita and that was relatively expensive but tasty. They used to offer 15% off for Bard students but I believe they stopped that deal unfortunately. The décor is festive.

I went on a Sunday night and food was good. Had one of the specials and it was good members of my party had the trio and overall ok. I think the food needs more seasoning in the meat choices. The seafood dishes I liked alot. Service was awesome and very quick. Had a Margherita as it was a Mexican restaurant. Seemed ok to me. I liked the Piña colada and it was good.

Holy guacamole! This place was a very pleasant surprise! For my birthday wknd, I chose BBQ& Mexican as my two special dinners, so Smoky Rock(awesome)and Cancun’s(also awesome) were two restaurants that we’d been wanting to try for awhile. The reviews were pretty good for this place, but I think it deserves even better reviews, people! It was a snowy, crappy day when we went last week, so it was fairly empty inside. The interior is bright, colorful, and festive, and the servers were very friendly, fast, and attentive. The food was fresh, hot, and authentic, not to mention large enough for a take-home bag(score!). Chips and salsa were complimentary, guac was made fresh at the table, and the margaritas were fruity and delicious. Can’t wait to go back!

Service so bad it was surreal Ordered shrimp appetizer waited a few minutes and the entrees show up! We said hey wheres our app? Waiter says i did know which one you wanted, huh only one shrimp app on the menu Figured ok forget the shrimp we will have dessert. ordered churros waited ten minutes waiter gone. Find other server who brings coffee, then says sorry we dont have churros! Waiter returns says not his fault. What? Whose fault is it? Time to leave. So bad. We ask to speak with manager and he says manager not here back tomorrow. Need i say more

Great food, great prices and good size helpings. Food is very authentic and cooked by Hispanics and not Gringo’s!

I was hoping for more since there are so few decent Mexican options around. Pros: The staff is super friendly. Service is quick. Drinks are cold and tasty. Portions are huge. Kid friendly. Cons: The food just isn’t very good. Not a single item was beyond mediocre. Even the table-side made guacamole was sub-par(over ripe, avocados, off-tasting — too many onions?). Better off going to Santa Fe in Tivoli or Bubby’s Burrito stand.

Good food and great service on a Sunday night? Even a douchey food snob would agree this place is perfect.

Absolutely delicious! Came here with the girls on a whim and we were all greatly impressed. They definitely don’t skimp on the portions and everything was delicious. The frozen margaritas were also great. We didn’t have room for dessert, but they all sounded delicious. Hopeful next time.

This food was not good quality. at all. It is way overpriced even though they offer Bard students a 15% discount and that still isn’t much. The drinks are pretty good if you’re 21 and the staff is nice, but so not worth the money if you’re just there to eat. My advice would be to try Tellos around the corner. Gabe’s in Rhinebeck is also more worthwhile than this place.

My advice, don’t even think about it. It was so bad that we went back to make sure. The LCD(lowest common denominator) food is delivered on a truck, assembled and heated. Not close to fresh. Even the bar uses low end mixes. The menu is common. The prices are higher than one would expect, but outrageous for the quality. The people are nice, the place seems clean and the chairs are colorful. Why did I write this? Because this town deserves better and hopefully — if these people want to stay in business — they’ll get a chef, buy real fresh ingredients and actually cook them, like they claim.
