I am very excited that Red Bud finally has a nice place to have a sit down dinner. I know the place is new, but holy cow do they have some kinks to work out. First off, they have a host or hostess if you can find him or her. Once you are seated you better hope that they are not busy because you will have to wait for a glass, yes I said a glass. Half of our table got their beers and wine, but we didn’t because they didn’t have enough glasses for everyone and we had to wait for an empty. Plus when we did get our glasses, my daughter’s beer was warm because the glass was hot, hey at least it was sanitized right! Time to order our food, they have a lot of sandwiches and three specials. We had to ask the server what exactly was on the special, hey don’t think that you get to pick your salad, yes you can only have a Cesar Salad no soup was offered as an option. Plus the owners mother makes the salad, and you guessed it they had to make more salad and half our table bot some while the others waited. This time they had plenty of plates just not enough salad. I guess 6 o’clock on a Saturday you shouldn’t be prepared. The special was steak or salmon and I think a pork chop because at this point I was just happy to be able to get some food and a drink. I was pleased when I got my steak it was a little more medium well than medium, but I prefer more done than less done. The mashed potatoes were good and the asparagus(which was a surprise) was tasty. I give the food a 4 but the service a 2 which averages out to a 3.

Excellent! Great atmosphere, great motif, clean and easily accessible. The restaurant is located in the old opera house in the charming downtown section of this sleepy farming community. It is surrounded by small shops and boutiques. There is ample room for large groups, but also small sections for quiet romantic dining. The service is exceptional. The staff is well dressed, attentive, and knowledgeable. The wine list is very good. Ultimately it’s about the food. Everything I’ve tried has been delicious! The menu is unique for a Red Bud restaurant, or any restaurants within 30+ miles. The restaurant is comparable to what you might find in the Central West End, Lafayette Square, or Benton Park/Soulard area. I suggest the Bolognese Crêpe, and the Classic Clam Chowder. It’s about a 40 minute pleasant drive from downtown Saint Louis, of which the later half is a two lane state route past farm houses and fields of wheat and corn. Chef/Owner David Dannenberg has done a great job with this gem!
